What would he do about the frequent thoughts which (he thinks) do not please Allaahu Ta’aalaa – Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan

What would he do about the frequent thoughts which (he thinks) do not please Allaahu Ta’aalaa
Answered by Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan

The questioner asks:

My thoughts often come to me in the things that are displeasing to Allaah and i always reproach myself from these thoughts and i say to myself this is from shaytaan, are the mankind accountable with it?

Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan says:

No, mankind is not accountable with it, (the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said) “My nation is forgiven for their mistakes and forgetfulness and the things that occur in their minds which they do not talk about or do your state of hating to talk about it and stating it, this is a sign of faith and you should seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of shaytaan the accursed and you also have to reject those thoughts and avoid its interaction….Yes

Guidelines on Children’s Clothes with Pictures and on Dolls – Sheikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (may Allah have mercy on him)

Guidelines on Children’s Clothes with Pictures and on Dolls
Sheikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (may Allah have mercy on him)
by SalafiEvents.com

Question:

Here, one of the sisters asks: What is the ruling on clothing children with clothes which contains pictures of things which have souls if it is not possible to erase these pictures from them, because by erasing them (the pictures), the garment is spoiled?

So, the Sheikh replied:

Answer:

Without doubt, it has to be said, that for the likes of this question, the purchasing of the garment which is illustrated with pictures, has to have definitely already occurred by mistake or negligence from the father or mother who bought (it), because the fundamental principle is that it is not appropriate for the Muslims that they purchase clothes which have pictures on them. However, a person may be unaware, and he may be negligent, and they may forget…and he may forget and he may purchase a garment, (and) after he returns with it to his house it becomes clear to him that there is a full prohibited picture on it. So, in this situation also, this question (above) is not to be found. It is imperative that another introduction precede it (this question), and it is…the changing of the garment for another garment from the place where it was purchased from, (whereby this new garment) does not have on it a prohibited picture. So if… so if it was not possible for the father or the mother to change it (for another garment), then here in the third stage (of this situation) this question comes about.

So, I remind about these two introductions (which should be placed before the question) because the majority of the people are heedless when they proceed to the markets. They buy everyday necessities (which are made) from different materials, from them which are the likes of those things which are spread out (carpets, rugs, mats etc.) and blankets or what resembles that, those (things) which are predominantly illustrated with pictures and decorated. And they do not pay any attention to them at all (these materials which have pictures) and they buy them with the excuse that these materials are not respected (because they are sat on, slept on etc.) and are not hung up. So, we say: It is imperative upon the Muslims that they be those who are awake (and) not those who are asleep, and that they pay attention to the plot of the disbelievers, those who are invading them in the midst of their own house with diverse ways – and that which is from them (these ways) are these clothes which are illustrated with pictures. And it (this matter) is mentioned bit by bit, specifically if the people are in need of it. And in a manner more specific when they are made heedless through some of the erroneous guidelines, through some of the fataawa (religious edicts) which are not based upon authentic proof, like (the fataawa for) these dolls and children’s toys which cram up the markets and the mothers go and buy for the boys and girls many a thing from these amusements in the name of them (being) toys for children or toys for girls.

So, it is imperative that we remember something here, and it is that the toys (i.e. dolls) which are allowed to be used for the small children… rather I say for girls only and not for the males from the children, that there is not out there any proof for the permissibility (of these toys/dolls) except the hadeeth of ‘Aaishah (may Allah be pleased with her) which says that she used to send for the daughters from the daughters of her neighbours to come to her and she would play with them with girls’ toys and the Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa ‘ala aalihi wa sallam) would help her in that and consent to her (doing that) and he would not rebuke her. Rather, indeed he (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa ‘ala aalihi wa sallam) [entered upon her] one time and saw amongst her toys a horse with two wings. So he (‘alaihi salaam) said to ‘Aaishah, playing about with her: ‘A horse which has two wings?!’ She said: ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, have you not heard’ or ‘has it not reached you that the horse of Sulaymaan (‘alaihi salaam) had wings?’ and he (‘alaihi salaatu wa salaam) laughed and he affirmed her in that. This hadeeth is the proof which makes it possible for us to rely upon it in allowing girl’s toys (i.e. dolls) with images and sculptured forms.

However, there is a principle of fiqh (jurisprudence) out there that every text which comes and carries within its folds a ruling which is an exception from the general proofs, then this ruling is halted at and it is not increased upon because it is against the fundamental principle. And that which was like that, i.e. that which was against the fundamental principle, then an analogy (qiyaas) is not made from that which was irregular to the fundamental principle, (and) because that which was against (an) analogy (being made with it), cannot (then) be used to make (a further) analogy based upon it, and indeed it is but connected (back) to the general principle.

If this meaning is clear to all, inshaa’Allah, then at this time we say: The toys which Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (may Allah be pleased with her) [had], they were from that type which some of the other women engaged in, in diverting the attention of their children away from requesting food and drink in the state of them fasting. And indeed they (the women) used to take for them images from coloured wool, from cotton and give them to those who were fasting from the youngsters, diverting their attention away from requesting food and drink. This type from the images, this type from the toys of the children, it was a local (type of image and toy) and it was a domestic [i.e. in the house] (type of image and toy), and it was not imported from outside the Islamic households, let alone being imported from the lands of disbelief and misguidance which manufacture toys and figures which are in accordance with their tastes, with their habits and their customs, and which do not agree in any way whatsoever with the habits of the Muslims and their customs and the rulings of their share ‘ah. And from that which shows you this, is what you see in these (imported) images, from the (imported) figures (which) sometimes are small (in size) and sometimes are big (in size), until (even) a young girl (who) can just about hold the doll and (yet) it is the same length as her and the same width as her and it has blond hair and clipped (in its hair) from the sides like the male children. And it (the imported doll) has a garment which are shorts i.e. the garment which has no legs to it, and it has the short garment which reveals the thighs (of the dolls). These sculptured forms contain the customs of those disbelievers and their habits and their mannerisms.

So, if we entered these sculptured forms into our houses, then first that (shows) that we are pleased with what they contain (i.e. from the customs, habits and mannerisms of those who made them)…firstly…, and secondly, that we are teaching our children (those) mannerisms and that we are bringing them up since their tender age upon finding pleasant these objects which are mutually contradictory to the Islamic clothing, and in particular that which is related to the men. And due to this, it is imperative upon us to beware of these imported clothes from the lands of disbelief with their [different] types and their (different) forms and their (different) purposes, and from that are the clothes of young children.

So we, with great sorrow, every time we enter a house we find the children of our brothers, those who adhere – according to our claim – to the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet, despite all of that, we find that the children have been dressed in clothes which have pictures on them and lewd pictures. Then, this calamity has spread until we have begun to clothe our youths who have passed the age of responsibility with shirts which have pictures on the back and on the front. And (when) sometimes we pray the Friday prayer, there comes to the Friday prayer, as you know, the one who does not pray except on the day of Friday, and most of his life he spends in play and amusement and despite that he (stills) attends the Friday prayer. So, we see him praying and behind him i.e. on the back of his shirt, there is a picture of a woman with her hair flowing and visible from her is her arm and her neck and the likes of that, and we face this picture (whilst praying).

These strange acts of heedlessness from the Muslims, I think that that which helps in spreading these shameful things and these Islamic violations is the saying that the prohibited images are indeed only but firstly, the three- dimensional images which have a shadow. As for that which is not three- dimensional, then these they claim are permissible and allowed and especially if they were not formed by the hand but were rather but formed with a photo camera or a printer. So, these are from the whisperings of shaytaan which he has thrown amongst humanity in this time and beautified for them (the fact) that there is nothing wrong with them.

So, it is upon the Muslims therefore, to stay away from buying any type from the types of clothes which have these pictures on them due to what we have mentioned earlier.

And in conclusion I say in response to that question (asked above): If the affair revolves around scraping off (the picture from) the garment and wasting the benefit from it and around seeking pleasure from it (the garment) despite its obvious and hidden shortcomings…I say if…., then seeking benefit (from it) is permissible. However, I believe that the believing woman and the one who with her capability is truly the mistress of the house, (should) erase the traces of that picture by scraping (it) off and with embroidery whereby the head is wiped out because the affair is as he (‘alaihi as salaam) said:

‘Indeed, the picture is but the head’.

So, if the head is wiped out, the picture is wiped out, even if some of its traces remain. And with this has the answer been completed inshaa’Allah.

Those who Feign Knowledge – The ‘Allaamah Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan

Question:

The Questioner says: What is At-Ta’aalum (feigning knowledge); and what is your advice to the youth who are put to trial by those who feign knowledge?

Answer:

At-Ta’aalum is to claim knowledge; it is to claim knowledge. When a person claims knowledge while he, in fact, is not a person of knowledge. He has not taken knowledge from the scholars. He has only taken knowledge from the books and by reviewing (a few books). He does not have knowledge based principles upon which he builds. He only reviews some books and proceeds upon his (own) understanding; and perhaps he errs more than he is correct. This is the one who feigns knowledge. He is a danger to himself and he is a danger to the people; because he plays with the religion of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic.

If someone were to come out to the people and say: “I am a physician; I am a doctor; I can perform surgery.” Yet, he has no clinical certifications; he has no clinical certifications. Will he be allowed to perform surgery? Will he be allowed to operate on the stomachs of the people, and perform surgical operations upon the heart? He will not be allowed to do this, because this is dangerous. So how can this feigner of knowledge be allowed to play with the religion? Playing with the religion is more severe than playing with the bodies. It is obligatory upon these people to have Taqwaa of Allaah, and not to speak concerning Allaah without knowledge. For Allaah has placed speaking about Him without knowledge above Shirk.

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): “(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawaahish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allaah for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allaah of which you have no knowledge.” (Al-A’raf 7:33)

It is obligatory upon these people to have Taqwaa of Allaah and to learn first; learn before they speak.

Asking about people to start fitna is not permissible – Explained by Shaykh Rabee

Asking about people to start fitna is not permissible
Explained by Shaykh Rabee (hafidhahullaah)

[Click Here to Watch Video with English Subtitles]

Question:

Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee: The questioner says: May Allah bless you and give you good. Is asking about the people from the guidance of the Salaf?

Answer:

Shaykh Rabee: Yes, asking about the people is from the Minhaj of the Salaf; look to see who you take your deen from. Verily this knowledge is deen, thus look to see from whom you take your deen.

Some people ask will truthfulness and sincerity, they desire to take their deen from qualified Scholars with sound Aqeedah and sound Minhaj, thus for this reason they ask.

And some of the people ask because they want fitna. During this time period, there are many questions; what is your opinion about so and so. What do you think about so and so, what is your view about the Minhaj of so and so? And his intention is not to benefit from the person or to avoid him, rather he has another intention. His intention is to disseminate and spread fitna among the people. These types of questions are not permissible because they are for the purpose of fitna, and the affairs are according to their intentions.

But if the questioner wants good, and he wants to learn and he wants to take his deen in the correct manner then it is incumbent upon him to search for those whom he should take his deen from.

Having Correct Understanding And Good Intention Is The Greatest Blessing – Al Imaam Ibnu Qayyim il Jawziyyah

Al Imaam Ibnu Qayyim il Jawziyyah said:

“Correct understanding and good intention are from the greatest of Allah’s favors by which he blesses His slave. Much rather, after Islam, He has not bestowed a slave with anything more virtuous or majestic than the two of them. Much rather they are the two legs of Islam, it stands upon the both of them and by them the slave is spared from the path of those whom divine anger is upon- those whose intent was corrupt- and the path of the astray ones whose understanding was corrupted. He becomes from those whom divine favor is upon- whose understandings and intentions are good, and they are the adherents of the straight path whom we are ordered in every prayer to ask Allah to guide us to their path.

Correct understanding is a light that Allah casts into the slave’s heart to distinguish between that which is correctness and corruption, truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, error and right approach. It is supplied by good intent, being adamant for the truth, having taqwa of A-Rabb inwardly and outwardly. Its supply is severed by following desires, preferring the dunya, desiring the praise of creation and abandoning taqwa.”

From Defender of the Sunnah to Apostate! – A warning from Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee

From Defender of the Sunnah to Apostate!
A warning from Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee

[Click here to watch Video with English Titles]

Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee:

An example of this is Abdullah al-Qasemi. How many books does he have defending the Dawah of Shaykh of Islam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab, the Dawah of Tawheed?! His book, “The conflict between Islam and paganism”; look into it. (His book) “The lightning of Najd in sweeping away the darkness of Ad Dajwee”, read it. Read these books that he authored aiding the Dawah of Tawheed, the Salafi Dawah, and the Dawah of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab.

Then after that he became an apostate! And the Scholars of the Dawah ruled that he was an apostate. And these rulings are sound and documented in the books. (He has) writings in defense of the Salafi Dawah, then he became an apostate!

O slaves of Allah. What is your problem, why do you not fear for yourselves?! It is obligatory for all of us to fear for ourselves. Thus if the person is in a satisfactory condition then he should ask Allah for firmness; this is a principle.

 رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us (Soorah Aali Imraan 3:8)

This is because the slave’s heart could deviate; even after he has been given guidance; because the hearts of the slaves’ are—as we have been informed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم—between two Fingers from the Fingers of Ar-Rahman, He turns them however He wills. And the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم has informed us concerning the fitna that would occur during the last days, when a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever by morning, selling his religion for worldly gain. We ask Allah for safety and security.

So why are the people shaken when they hear that so and so used to aid the Sunnah and then he deviated? We ask Allah for firmness and we ask Allah to guide the likes of the person mentioned in the question. But let it be known that this is occurring and it has occurred, and this has happen and it will continue to happen; as long as man exists as long as man is alive. So don’t be alarmed, and don’t flee from this (reality) rather ask Allah for firmness and security.

Translated by Rasheed ibn Estes Barbee

Student of knowledge does not pray in the Masjid ? – Answered by Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak

Student of knowledge does not pray in the Masjid ?
Answered by Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak

[Click Here to Watch the Video]

Questioner:

What is your view of a student of knowledge who does not pray in congregation, and when there is a discussion concerning this issue he says: “I examined the proofs and I prefer the view that praying in congregation is ‘Sunnah’ (optional) and it is not obligatory.” Therefore should he be criticized for not attending the congregational prayers or not?

Shaykh Baraak:

La hawla wala quwwata illa billah (There is no might or power except with Allah). La hawla wala quwwata illa billah (There is no might or power except with Allah).

La ilaha illa Allah (There is no deity worthy of worship except for Allah)

And how is this view preferred to you?! How does a Sunni Muslim prefer this preference of yours?!

If we agree for the sake of argument that it is optional. Is it befitting for you, and you are a student of knowledge, that you are absent from this tremendous virtue?! And if it is mentioned to you some portion of the Dunya (worldly life) you go out to obtain it. This resembles the condition of the hypocrites. Those who the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah are upon him, said about them:

“The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are Isha and Fajr and if they knew the virtue in these prayers they would have attended them even if they had to crawl.”

Then he said:

By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if any one of them had known that he would get a bone covered with good meat or two sheep’s feet with meat on them, he would have attended the Isha prayer.”

Meaning if he knew he would find some good meat he would have attended Isha prayer.

Subhanallah! Either this person is lying, deceiving and using this as an excuse or shaytaan has deceived him and caused the Sunni to prefer the view that (congregational prayer) is optional.

How can he be pleased with this for himself when the companions of the Prophet would come (to the congregational prayer) with a man supported, being carried by two other men?!

Will you not be shy oh student of knowledge?!

You say: “I prefer the view that it’s optional, it is optional therefore I pray with my woman.” With his wife! He prays with his wife; meaning him and his wife pray in the same manner (at home).

Subhanallah!

Questioner:

May Allah give you good. The one who asked about the student of knowledge not praying in congregation says: “I prefer the view that congregational prayer is optional because it is the point of view of some of the major scholars.”

Shaykh Baraak:

This is not our way. The major scholars are not used to contradict the legislation.

And if you differ in anything among yourselves refer it to Allah and His Messenger. (Soorah An Nisaa verse 59)

This is what has caused many of the Muslims to be tested; using the difference of opinion as a defense.

Subhanallah! The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah are upon him, blamed those who stayed away from the congregational prayer. He said:

“I was thinking of ordering that the call to prayer be given, then I would tell a man to lead the people in prayer, and I would go out with men carrying bundles of wood to people who do not come to the prayers, and I would burn their houses with fire around them.”

And he said, blaming the one who sought an excuse:

There is no prayer for the neighbor of the Masjid except in the Masjid.

And there are other proofs as well.

Read “The book of prayer” by Ibn Al Qayyim. Ibn Al Qayyim even mentions that those who say congregational prayer is optional, such as the Hanafees, as this statement has been attributed to them, they say it is a confirmed Sunnah; and according to their school of thought the person who leaves a confirmed Sunnah is sinning.

So the major scholars are excused and we have the best thought about them. As for those who take their statements because it agrees with their desires then they do not have any excuse similar to the excuse which is given to those scholars who made their knowledge based judgment.

Subhanallah.

The Honeymoon should be Continuous – Shaikh Uthaymin

The Honeymoon should be Continuous
By Sheikh Uthaymin

Sheikh Uthaymin, may Allah have mercy upon him, said

Some of the people say that it is possible to take from the statement of the messenger of Allah peace and blessings are upon him, “so that you can taste his honey and he can taste your honey”, that we can take what is called a honeymoon so is this correct?

[Translator’s Footnote: Originally "honeymoon" simply described the period just after the wedding when things are at their sweetest; it is assumed to wane in a month. (Wikipedia)]

Yes this is correct. But the honey is not just for a month if you remain with the woman; rather the honey will be continuous not just for a month.

As for traveling during this month to lands that are not befitting to be traveled to then this is a waste of money. And then we hear about some of the people who travel to outside countries and they go to swimming pools, night clubs, and theaters, and his wife is uncovered, revealing her head, chest and arms, and so on and so forth; and with Allah refuge is sought.

This only occurs from someone who has changed the favor of Allah into ingratitude; rather the reward for this blessing is for the person to increase in thanking Allah and to live with his family in a good manner.

But what is the ruling on the one who says, ‘instead of this I will go with my wife to umrah, (for the honeymoon)?

We say this is good, but it is not good. Because it is obvious that the origin of this is taken from the non Muslims; we did not know of this during the time of the previous scholars or during the time of the pious predecessors and none of the people of knowledge spoke about doing this, therefore this has been obtained from the non Muslims; this is one angle.

From another angle, I fear that if a long time passes by and the people are making marriage a legitimate reason for making umrah then it will be said, it is the Sunnah for everyone who gets married to make umrah. Therefore we would have invented for an act of worship, a reason that has not been legislated, and this is a problem. Because if a long time passes the condition of the people will change and they will forget the beginning.

For this reason we say, have the honeymoon in your room, in your home and make the honeymoon forever not one month; and the praises belong to Allah for wellbeing.

Advice from Shaykh Uthaymeen to those Who Shave their Beards – Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen

Advice from Shaykh Uthaymeen to those Who Shave their Beards
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen

Returning to the truth is a virtue. There is no doubt that if we were to give a person a choice between two paths; the path of the Majoos (fire worshippers) or the path of the Prophets, which would he choose? Every believer would choose the path of the Prophets. The Prophets-at the head of them is the seal of them, Muhammad ﷺ-would all let their beards grow, while the Majoos would shave the beard; so choose whichever of the two paths you wish.

Due to this, we do not see that anyone has an excuse, after the truth has been clarified to him, to abandon the truth. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Be different from the Majoos; be different from the polytheists. Let the beards grow fully and trim the mustaches.”

This was the way of the people from aforetime. We did not used to know of anyone who shaved their beards. Rather, it has been said that some of the oppressive rulers would punish an individual by shaving his beard. He would make it to be a punishment! The scholars, may Allaah have mercy upon them, textualized within the books of At-Ta’zeer (punishments) that it is not permissible to punish by shaving the beard. (This is) from that which indicates that some of the oppressive rulers deemed it to be permissible. So how about now? A person blows his wealth on shaving it. He loses out on the most important thing; he loses out on following the Messenger ﷺ and compliance with his command.

We hope for this brother of ours, whom you all respect; we ask Allaah to bless him with guidance, and that he grows his beard in compliance with the command of the Prophet ﷺ and in keeping with his Sunnah.
