Al-Imaam al-Qayrawaanee: “The First Foundation They Instill in You is Hatred for the Scholars” Comments by: Shaykh Ahmad Bazmool
Al-Imaam al-Qayrawaanee [d. 750 AH], may Allah have mercy on him, said:
…The first foundation that they (i.e. the Soofiyyah) instill in you according to their methodology is hatred for the scholars and chasing people away from them … (1)
Shaykh Ahmad Bazmool, may Allah protect him, commented:
Question: Why do they lay this foundation?
The Answer:
They lay this foundation because the scholars distinguish between truth and falsehood. They are the inheritors of the Prophets, and they guide people from darkness to light. Likewise, the scholars are opposed to what they propagate.
So, the first thing the people of falsehood are intent on doing is to cloud the minds of their followers with evil descriptions of the scholars. This is how all the people of falsehood and innovation are: They must give the scholars evil descriptions. They do this so when the scholars warn against them and clarify their misguidance, their followers will be unaffected [by what they hear]. This is a dangerous affair.
This is why they speak ill of Salafee scholars and Salafee students of knowledge; they even speak ill of the Salafee youth, because the youth spread the speech of the scholars. They say: ‘Don’t listen to so-and-so; He is from the extremist, etc.’ – They warn against him. So, take notice of this agreed upon technique that all the people of falsehood employ.
The call the Salafees ‘extremist,’ ‘Haddaadees;’ ‘they promote dictatorship,’ etc. They use these descriptions to cause people to flee from them so they won’t hear the truth … (2)
Observation: Many people have changed their behavior with certain scholars who are known to openly clarify falsehood and identify its propagators; such as: Shaykh Rabee’, Shaykh ‘Ubayd, Shaykh Zayd, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Haadee, Shaykh Muhammad Bazmool, Shaykh Ahmad Bazmool, Shaykh ‘Abdullah al-Bukhaaree, etc., may Allah protect them all.
In the past, they would learn from them, attend their gatherings, visit them, take others to visit them, translate for them, spread their lectures and articles, seek and accept their advice, etc. – Now?
May Allah bless us with love for all of the scholars of the Sunnah, and may He protect us from the clear and subtle methods of those who seek to misguide us.

It Is Not A Proof That So And So Is Salafee Simply Because He Studied With A Salafee Shaykh
It Is Not A Proof That So And So Is Salafee Simply Because He Studied With A Salafee Shaykh
Shaykh Ahmad Baazmool (hafidhahullaah)
Be mindful: Some people use as a proof (the fact that) so and so from the students of Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen or from the students of Shaykh Ibn Baaz, that so and so (this person) is Salafee. No. This is not a distinguishing sign according to the Salafees. It is only the Minhaj, manners, and attestation.
Due to this, frequently we get the question: “A man came to us claiming that is was from the students of Shaykh Muqbil; from the students of Shaykh Rabee’; from the students of Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen.” Is this sufficient? The answer is no. Not until he is attested to. Hence, he may be, and this is something well-known, he may be from the present day opposers. Rather, perhaps some of them are Takfeeree; some of them are perhaps Takfeeree, even if he ascribes to having studied under Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen. Due to that, it is not to be used as a proof that so and so is similar to him. Clear? This is a benefit, so pay attention to it.
Due to this, when ‘Alee Al-Halabee comes to us and says: “I am from the students of Al-Albaanee.” That’s it, he is ruled to enter directly into Jannah?! He is ruled to have knowledge absolutely?! No, this does not suffice you; not until you walk and traverse upon the methodology of the Salaf upon which Al-Albaanee traversed, may Allaah have mercy upon him. If you oppose it then you are not from him, even if you clung to him from the time he began his studies up until the time he died, this would not suffice you. For the scholars free themselves from those who oppose (the truth). They free themselves from those who oppose (the truth). For this reason, this is of no benefit. So pay attention to this.

“Should we be scared while the Qur`an and Sunnah are with us? Shame on us!? We are Salafees! And we are scared to defend the truth while the people of falsehood encourage themselves in their defense of falsehood? There is no blessing from Allaah in this life for a fearful and chicken-hearted person – no blessing in this life!
This life isn’t just about a desire for drink and food! By the Lord of the Ka’bah!
Either I live as a Salafee with my head held high, defending the da’wah of Prophet Muhammad, salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, defending the narrations of the Salaf and defending the scholars of our time, the scholars of the Sunnah such as Al-Albaanee, Ibn Baaz, Ibnul-’Uthaimeen, Shaikh Al-Fawzaan, Shaikh al-Ghudayaan, Shaikh al-Luhaydaan, Shaikh Rabee’ and others amongst the scholars of Salafiyyah who have propogated this Da’wah, otherwise, no! There is no good in us!
There is no good in us! By the Lord of the Ka’bah!
I am amazed!
Why such relentlessness against the Da’wah Salafiyyah?!
Why such relentlessness against the Salafees?!
Why so much praise for the people of bid’ah?!
Why is all this happening?!
Where is your Gheera (Honorable Jealousy), oh you who affirm that Allaah is above His Throne?!
Where is your Gheera (Honorable Jealousy), oh you who affirm that Allaah is above?!
Where is your Gheera (Honorable Jealousy), oh you who affirm that there is neither benefit nor harm except from Allaah?!
Oh you who do not invoke for aid nor in distress except Allaah (alone)!
(Oh you) who considers the prohibition of amulets and that we must swear by Allaah alone, where is your Gheera (Honorable Jealousy)?!
When you are seeing your Imams – those who call to the same Da’wah as yours – being blamed and criticized, while those who praise the deniers of the Istiwaa` – and claim that Allaah is ‘everywhere’ - have become Imams?
Where is your Gheera (Honorable Jealousy), oh my brother?!
Is that where we are?! Have we dropped to this point?!
The one who clings to this Religion becomes stronger, while the one who abandons it (becomes) weak! This Religion is a Paradise; the one who follows its path will succeed, but the one who abandons it will be lost.
He is The Lord, The Noble, free from any imperfection and Exalted is He! The one who sticks to His commands, his strength will be tenfold and he will become powerful by the power of Allaah and His favour.
Otherwise, he has no good in this life.
Nowadays, our scholars get accused of many things, our mashayikh get accused of many crimes, and it is the modern-day Khawaarij, the modern-day Mu’tazila, and the modern-day Ash’aria who have become the Imams?!
Have they become heroic combatants and brave men?! [No!]
But they just want to kill you, oh Salafiyyoon. They want you to quit your Salafiyyah!
But remain steadfast upon it! You have the Adila (proofs) with you; don’t be deceived by their words!
Imam al-Awaza’ee said:
‘Adhere to the narrations (aathar) of the Salaf (the Prophet and Sahaaba), even if the people were to abandon you. And beware of the opinions of people, no matter how much they beautify it with speech.’”

Why do the Modern Day Khawaarij find difficulty in making Talaabul-Ilm? – Moosaa Richardson
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Our beloved brother Abul-‘Abbaas Moosaa Richardson (حفظه الله تعالى) mentioned in his first class from the Explanation of Masaa’il al-Jaahiliyyah by Shaykh Saleh al-Fawzaan (حفظه الله تعالى) on Saturday the following highly beneficial point:
…And just one point before we begin and I apologise for this, but perhaps you can get benefit from this, because it is related to our Salafeeyah and our distinction from the Khawaarij (Renegades), today. And I mean the Khawaarij of today! There is a special attribute the Khawaarij have today, specifically! The Khawaarij are those people who call to rebellion against the rulers. You might say this is kind of a strange connection. But I’ll tell you.
The Khawaarij of today have no patience in Talaabul-Ilm. They have not patience to continue and study day-after-day, week-after-week and year-after-year. They, while they may have acts of worship that are great. They may have other things that they do with diligence. Talabul-Ilm is very hard for them in this era. Why? I don’t know!
What is the proof that I have, or why do I say that?
It manifests itself in their claim when they speak about the scholars of Ahl-us-Sunnah. And they call them what? What are the names that the Khawaarij us to refer to the scholars of today, the evil nicknames that they invent?
They say: “They are the scholars of women’s underpants.” Talking about menses and haidh. Menses and blood and the colour of the blood and when it is pure and when it is not pure.
WHAT IS THE SECRET BEHIND THIS CLAIM? A side from them being khabeeth [evil ones] and having filthy accusations? What’s the secret, why do they pick this issue out of all the issues in the religion to say the ‘Ulema are busy with this? They can say the ‘Ulema are busy with sheep and cows, dividing them up for Zakah. They could say the ‘Ulema are busy with raising your hands or not raising your hands in takbeer. The could say so many things about our ‘Ulema if they wanted to speak about our ‘Ulema.
Why do they say: “The Scholars are people who are so busy with women’s purity and issues of women’s purity.”
Because, they attended the first few lessons with the Scholars, they tried to make Taalabul-Ilm. THEY TRIED BUT THEY DIDN’T GET PASSED TAHAARAH
So in their minds our ‘Ulema are still teaching menses after 25, 30 years. They came to a few lessons, they saw the ‘Ulema of Islam dealing in great detail. With precision, the texts of the Book and the Sunnah. Making tahkeek [checking the chains of narration] showing how the issues are to be understood properly, about taharaah about purity about. What’s one of the issues, women’s menses! That’s an issue from our Deen.
So when they couldn’t bear it, and they didn’t have patience to go beyond that, to get real tick in to the religion they immediately jumped in to the newspaper seeking Fiqhul-Waaqi’ [news about the current affairs] and running to the political activists propped up as scholars and getting behind them and trying to replace our scholars with those political activists. What made them make this jump? What made them leave the lessons with the ‘Ulema? In the very beginning it’s their LACK OF PATIENCE.
So be a Salafee and be distinguished and be patient upon Talaabul-Ilm, it takes patience for you to study a book from beginning to end…

Throwing dirt in the face of the one who Praises you – Explained by Shaykh Sulayman Ruhaylee
Throwing dirt in the face of the one who praises you
Explained by Shaykh Sulayman Ruhaylee
or watch video @ http://www.safeshare.tv/w/eoZElFgwwO
Questioner:
Is it correct for the one who is praised to throw dirt in the face of the person who praises him?
Shaykh Sulayman Ruhaylee:
Praising a person in their face is of different types.
The first type is praising with lies. Thus he praises the person while he is untruthful, and this is not permissible. He says: “You have this and that quality.” And everything he says is in contradiction to the truth. (He says) “You are; Masha Allah, a man known for truthfulness.” While in reality this person is the biggest liar there is. (He says) “Masha Allah, you do not backbite the Muslims.” While in reality the person does not sit in a gathering except that he backbites. This is not permissible.
The second type is to justifiably praise the person, when the person is not safe from this being a fitna for them. He praises the person in their face, justifiably, while the person is not safe from this praise being a fitna for him, such that it is feared that this may beguile him; as we mentioned in the lesson concerning praise. This type of praise is not permissible. And the one who praises him has cut his neck. And if you find those who praise the people throw dirt in their faces. This is the category (who has dirt thrown in their faces)
The third type is to praise the person in their face while they are safe from this being a fitna for them. There is no harm in this type of praise; as was done by the Prophet prayers and peace are upon him, with Abu Bakr As Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, and with Umar, may Allah be pleased with him.
The fourth type is to praise the Muslim for qualities that he possesses behind his back. And this is desired. To spread the virtues possessed by a Muslim this is something which is desired.

Tips for Remaining Firm Upon the Manhaj – Umar Bryant (rahimahullaah)
The Path to Salafiyyah – Part I
Tips for Remaining Firm Upon the Manhaj[1]
Compiled by Umar Bryant {May Allah have mercy upon him}
Verily, all praise is due to Allaah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we ask Him for His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allaah from the evils of our selves and the evils of our actions. Whomsoever Allaah guides, there is no one that can lead him astray. And whomsoever is led astray, there is no guide for him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship in truth except Allaah. He stands alone and without any partners. And I bear witness that Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is His slave and Messenger.
“O you who believe! Fear Allaah as He ought to be feared and do not die except while you are Muslims.“[2]
“O you who believe! Fear your Lord who created you from a single person (Aadam), and from him, He created his wife, and from them He created many men and women. Fear Allaah through whom you demand your mutual rights and (do not cut off the relations of) the wombs. Surely, Allaah is ever an All Watcher over you.“[3]
“O you who believe! Fear Allaah and be truthful and precise in your speech. He will rectify your deeds for you and forgive you of your sins. And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger, then he has achieved a great success.”[4]
To Proceed:
The following are aids in keeping the Salafee firm upon this noble manhaj.
We ask Allaah to grant us and you success!
- Thank and praise Allaah for this great gift of being guided to pure Islaam. Indeed it is a great blessing in which Allaah grants to whom He wills from his servants, hence, it is befitting that you turn to The Most Merciful with the utmost gratitude and thanks.
- Constantly ask Allaah for success, guidance, and firmness upon the path for indeed you being guided to it does not guarantee you will remain upon it.
- Seek assistance with Allaah, humble yourself before Him and call upon Him with sincerity and humility as if you are in need of being guided to the straight path. Ask Him to make you firm upon it. From the great supplications in this regard is one of the opening du’a of the prayer.
“Oh Allaah, Lord of Jibra’eel, Mika’eel, and Israfeel, Creator of the heavens and the earth, knower of the seen and unseen. You are the arbitrator between your slaves in that which they have disputed. Guide me to the truth by your leave in that which has been differed upon from the truth for verily You guide whom you will to a straight path”
[ From AbdurRahman.Org : Adding transliteration of above Du'a
Allâhumma, rabba Jibrâ'îla, wa Mîkâ'îla, wa Isrâfîla ! Fâtira s-samâwâti wa-l-ardi, âlima l-ghaybi wa sh-shahâdati, anta tahkumu bayna ibâdika fîmâ kânû fîhi yakhtalifûna. Ihdinî li-mâ khtulifa fîhi mina-l-haqqi bi-idhnika. Innaka tahdî man tashâ'u ilâ sirâtîn mustaqîm. ]
After this, seek out the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Guard it, reflect upon it, and stick firm to it.
- Connect yourself with the ‘Ulamaa known for their upright manhaj and creed. Those who speak the truth and are just with it. Those who are known by those far from him and close to him for being firm upon the Salafee manhaj. Stick firm to their books and tapes. Be adamant about attending their sittings and lectures. Be adamant about calling them each time a matter arises or you have a question.
- Leave alone the frauds and self proclaimed “scholars” and “du’aat”, those known for being in opposition to the Salafee manhaj. The manhaj is free of them and their da’wah. They are known for creating fitnah, getting the people excited, their strong desire to be seen as people of knowledge, while associating with the people of innovation.
- Be steadfast in seeking knowledge. Start by learning the correct creed and becoming well versed in it. Get a hold of the books of Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyah and his student Ibn Qayyim, likewise the books of the great reviver Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab – may Allaah have mercy upon them all. Be steadfast in reading these books with a known Salafee Shaykh. Likewise be steadfast in studying the books of the Salaf which clarify their creed and manhaj as it relates to those who oppose the manhaj of the Salaf. Books such as As-Sunnah by Ibn Abee Aasim, As-Sunnah by Khalaal, As-Sunnah by Abdullaah ibn Ahmed, Sharhus Sunnah by Barbahaaree, Al-‘Itisaam by Imaam Ash-Shaatibee, Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah Al-Ukbari, Sharh Usool ‘Itiqaad Ahlis Sunnah wal Jama’ah of Laalikaa’I – may Allaah have mercy upon all of them.[5]
- Free yourself of everything that is related to Hizbiyyah and the Hizbees, such as their books, their tapes, their nasheeds, and their shows in which no permission from Allaah for them has been granted.
- Do not allow your heart to be a sponge sucking up shubuhaat (doubts) and accepting them.
- It is sufficient for you in this life to stick with the Salafee ‘Ulamaa, keep the ties between your parents, and aid your family. It is also sufficient for you to be around good Salafee companions. If you want to call to Allaah then sufficient for you are the books and tapes of the known Salafee scholars. Beware of proceeding before your maturity. Prepare for yourself a Salafee library consisting of the books of Salafee tafseer, books of hadeeth, and books of aqeedah. Stay far away from the books of “intellectual” thinkers such as the books of Sayyid Qutb his brother Muhammad and other then them from the known people who have deviated in their manhaj.
- Stay away from suspect individuals. Those known to speak against leaders of the Muslims, those who claim to dispel evil and those who claim to be aiding “the jihad”. The majority of these individuals and their allegation of enjoining good, is nothing more than hizbiyyah and not upon the Sharee’ah. Their Jihaad is that of the Haroorees[6] and not that of the Sunnee.
So for example, you will see some of them making takfeer upon the Raafidhah and saying “The ruler should stand up and remove these people from the land or he should annihilate them” We shall say to him “What is your opinion of the one who insults the companions such as Sayyid Qutb? If you see him pause, hesitate, or stammer in his speech then know his statement about the Raafidhah was only a political hizbee one.
If you see one say “The muslims are being slaughtered while the muslim governments do nothing” We shall ask him, “What have you done to aid the muslims by way of correcting his aqeedah and manhaj? If he frowns and continues upon such speech then know his statement was a political and hizbee one.
- Do not enter into debates with the Hizbees. Ask Allaah to guide them. Beware of visiting and sitting in the gatherings of the Hizbees as you know what they are upon from misguidance.
The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) informs us in a hadeeth narrated on the authority of Aboo Hurayrah (radi Allaahu ‘anhu);
“There shall be people in the latter part of my Ummah who will speak to you concerning things you nor your fathers have heard so beware of them”[7]
The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) also informed us that when one hears of the Dajjaal then we are to stay far away from him.
Ibn Abbass said:
“Do no sit with the people of desires for verily in their sitting is a sickness for the heart”
- There are many important books, publications, and tapes in which the Hizbees hide because in them their figureheads are exposed. Try to attain them from the known Salafee brothers or from known Salafee organizations[8].
- Be open in your affiliation to the blessed Salafee manhaj. Do not be ashamed to call yourself SALAFEE. And if one says your are praising yourself. Tell him this is from informing the people of your affiliation and not from praising oneself and furthermore if this were the case, then everyone who refers to himself as Muslim or Sunnee is also praising himself.Memorize the statement of Shaykhul Islaam Ibnu Taymiyyah:
“There is no criticism for the one who proclaims the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf, who attaches himself to it and refers to it. Rather, it is obligatory to accept that from him by unanimous agreement (Ittifaaq) because the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf is nothing but the Truth (Haqq).“[11]
- Beware of falling into tamyee’ [12] and associating with its people! Beware of the many tricks and hidden attacks of those who have been afflicted with this sickness. From their tricky statements are:
“Those brothers are harsh”
“Their focus is only refuting the people”
“They blindly follow “their” scholars (Shaykh Rabee)”
- Beware! Beware of looking into the books of the people of innovation and those who defend and protect the people of innovation and listening to their tapes for verily within them is a deadly poison.
Ibnu Quddamah (rahimahullaah) said:
“And from the Sunnah is to boycott the people of innovation, exposing them, leaving off arguing and debating with them in the religion, leaving off looking into the books of the innovators, and lending ones ear to their speech. And every newly invented matter in the religion is an innovation”
And if you want to study with anyone then be sure of his methodology. Return his affair to the scholars of Jarh and Ta’deel from our Salafee Mashaayikh. If they caution you from him then flee from this leper as if you were fleeing from a lion.
When you are cautioned from an individual by the scholars and those known for their firmness in this area then do not fall into a common misconception amongst many and that is the statement “I will wait until I see this matter with my own eyes” or “I have not seen what they say about him” and other similar statements signifying ones ignorance of this manhaj. Do not be bold and arrogant.
- Call the common people (from the Muslims) to the methodology of the Salaf with insight and good exhortations. You must use kindness and wisdom with them as the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Verily kindness is not added to an affair except that it beautifies it and it is not taken from an affair except that it disgraces it”[13]
- Be humble in the face of sincere advice. Take the advice of our blessed elders in knowledge and virtue when they advise you.
- Be abundantly aware of those who oppose the manhaj of the Salaf and know that they have characteristics that you must know.
And all praise is due to Allaah and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad.

[12] Tamyee’ literally means to water down or liquefy. As it relates to manhaj, then it is the act of watering down and changing firmly established principles in an effort to defend the people of desire
With regard to tamyee’ Shaykh Rabee’ was asked:
Questioner:
Our Shaykh (hafidhakumullaah), we hear a lot from your excellence the usage [of the term] “at-tamayyu`”, we hope (i.e. seek) an explanation of this usage from you, and what is your view regarding the one who rejects this [terminological] usage.
Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee:
This is not [terminological] usage, this is a temporary word (i.e. a passing remark upon a particular trait) that is said, but what is desired by it is a [group of] peoples who came to the `usool of Islaam, melting them, softening them, and belittling their importance, rather, they wage war against them , may Allaah bless you.
And they describe – meaning [describe] the Salafee manhaj, and standing (firmly) in the face of Ahl ul-Bida`, and defending the Sunnah – they describe it as shiddah (harshness), they describe that as shiddah, and they describe that as ghuluww (extremism), and they lied and fabricated a lie.
By Allaah, besides whom there is none worthy of worship (in truth), shiddah (harshness, severity) is not found amongst the masaakeen Salafees now. And certainly, no matter how harsh the Salafees are in facing and standing against the falsehood, and innovations, they do not reach one hundredth of what the Salaf were upon of harshness against Ahl ul-Bida` to the degree that they (the Salaf) used to kill them, and expel them (from the land), and boycott them, and beat them, and humiliate them. [And as for us] the Salafees, they have nothing [of what was with the Salaf of harshness], masaakeen.”

Study Arabic at Kuwait University
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In shaa’Allaah another wonderful opportunity for Salafees to learn Arabic in the Middle-East.
When Shaykh Falaah (hafidhahullaah) was asked about those who don’t get accepted at Madeenah Univ. or those whose age is more than 25 yrs, he suggested that they can try to study in Kuwait through the Embassy. He said that Kuwait does not make age a condition and the students are given sponsorship and other facilities walillaahil hamd. [1]
One of the students of the Kuwaiti Mashaykh & the admin of http://salafiyyah-kuwait.blogspot.com, Br. Aboo Sufyaan Uthmaan Beecher (hafidhahullaah) has also studied Arabic at Kuwait University. The website of the university is http://www.kuniv.edu
WAllaahu ‘aalam. May Allaah grant us success.

Can We Benefit From An Unknown Translator? – Q/A With Shaykh Ahmad Bazmool
Q&A With Shaykh Ahmad Bazmool
Author: Shaykh Ahmad ibn ‘Umar Baazmool (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala)
Questions posed by Anwar Wright & Abu Yusuf Khaleefah, Translated by Anwar Wright
http://www.salafyink.com/studentsofknowledge/QAShBazmool2.pdf
Eleventh Question:
What is the ruling on benefitting from the books of the scholars which are translated into English, however the translator is not known or he has errors in manhaj?
Answer:
If the book is a Salafee book, however the translator is unknown or he has errors in manhaj, it is not permissible to benefit from these books, it is not permissible to benefit from these translated books. This is because they take the ruling of the translator.
So if it said that the author of the book is Salafee and the translator, even if he is a hizbee, “he is just a mere translator”; we say the wisdom behind this is that we cannot be sure that this translator will not distort the meanings to coincide with his falsehood. And we have been trialed and have found many translators translating live for some of the Salafi scholars, translating that which is falsehood. It has been related of one Salafi scholar that he was teaching Tawheed and with him was a translator whom he did not know, so he (the scholar) was affirming Tawheed (in the lesson) whilst the translator was affirming shirk, as if it was the words of this scholar until someone let the scholar know what was happening!
So look how these individuals deceive. Then we will give you an example; the people of innovation explain the book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah – salla Allaahu alayhi wa sallam – and with this we do not accept from them. So likewise the translator, if he is in opposition (to the truth) or unknown, we don’t accept from them.
