Should I beat my daughter? – Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak (hafithahuAllah)

Should I beat my daughter?
Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak (hafithahuAllah)

Questioner:

Oh Shaykh may Allah rectify us and our offspring. If I want to beat my daughter due to a problem that occurred between her and her sister or due to her wrecking the house, or not listening to what her mother tells her or not listening to me; when I beat her she becomes frighten and says: “Dear father may Allah preserve you, I ask my Lord to enter you into paradise.”

So I am concerned about this dua especially since I continue to beat her and I say to myself, “Say, oh Allah, Enter me into paradise though I beat her”.

Shaykh Baraak: Why do you beat her? Why? Do not beat her! Why do you beat her?!

Questioner: Due to her disobeying her mother and her father.

Shaykh Baraak: No, No, do not beat her. Discipline her with words. Beating is not the appropriate means. Hitting is for violating the rights of Allah, for violating the rights of Allah. If she does not pray after reaching the age of ten then she is lightly hit as a means of discipline.

(Your beating her) is incorrect.

Some of the people go to the extreme. Some of the people punish their children with fire! This is ignorance.

Discipline is not torture! It is not torture! Show mercy and you will be shown mercy.

Do not beat your daughter. Discipline her (with words).  (Such as saying) ‘Shame on you, Shame on you’, ‘This is not correct.’ ’What is this you are doing?’

.. but their tongues rip apart the honor of both the dead and the living

Poisonous Tongues

Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim, rahimahullaah, said:

It is quite amazing how it can be easy upon a person to be cautious and wary with regards to [different impermissible acts such as]: eating from unlawful means, oppression, adultery and fornication, stealing, drinking intoxicants, looking at prohibited things and the likes, and yet quite difficult for him to be careful about the movement of his tongue. So bad that you find a person towards whom the people point to concerning his practice of the Religion, his asceticism, and worship, and despite this he says statements that anger Allaah greatly and he shows no concern about this, yet this statement will take him [to a Fire] that is farther than distance between east and west. How many people do you see from amongst those who have enough piety to abstain from lewd, indecent acts, oppression and wrong doing, but their tongues rip apart the honor of both the dead and the living and they show not a care in the least.

The Obligation of Differing From The Disbelievers – Shaykh Saleh ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan

The Obligation of Differing From The Disbelievers
Author: Shaykh Saleh ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan
Jumah Khutbah: Riyadh, Date: October 12, 2001 (Rajab 25, 1422)

All praise is due to Allaah Who has promised those with patience a reward without measure. He has rewarded those who are thankful for His bounties with preservation and protection as well as with a generous increase with regard to these bounties. I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allaah, with Whom there is no associate, beyond any shadow of doubt. I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger; the leader of all Messengers and the chosen one from among all mankind. May the blessings of Allaah be upon him, his family, his companions and all those who will follow them sincerely until the Day of Judgement.

O Allaah’s servants! Allaah, the Most High, has granted the Muslims a complete Sharee’ah, or comprehensive set of rules, that cover all religious and worldly matters. He made happiness both in this world and in the Hereafter contingent on working according it and adhering to its guidance. Allaah, Most High says that which means: “Whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter].”(Taa Haa: 123).“Whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.”(Al-Baqarah: 38).

This Sharee’ah is the straight and correct way, which is the way of those  on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace such as His Prophets, the sincere, the martyrs, and the righteous. Anything other than this is the way of those who have earned the wrath of Allaah such as the Jews, the Christians and the polytheists.

Dear Muslims! In every rak`ah, or cycle, of your prayer, you invoke Allaah to show you the straight path and keep you away from the path of those who have earned His wrath and those who have gone astray. You do this because you recite Surat Al-Faatihah. This recitation in every rak`ah is one of the pillars of Salaah, or prayer. Therefore, you should reflect on this Du`aa’, or supplication, its objectives and its positive results.

First and foremost, it implies following Allaah’s Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and adhering to Allaah’s Sharee’ah concerning acts of worship, business transactions, morals and inward and outward manners. It also entails differing from the disbelievers with regard to their specific acts of worship, business transactions, morals, and manners. This is because imitating them outwardly leads to Read more…

Palestinian stones vs jewish machine guns | al-Albani

Scholar: Imâm Muhammad Nâsir-ud-Dîn al-Albânî
Source: Silsilat-ul-Hudâ wan-Nûr (233), Reference: Maktabah Darulhadith.com
Audio and translation courtesy of http://aFatwa.com

Question: The Palestinian Intifada has now been going on for 1 ½ years. We throw stones at the jews that either hits them on the head or not. What do you say about throwing stones at the jews or continuing the Intifada in this way at all?

Shaykh al-Albânî: We have honored the intifada from the entire beginning. It deserves to be honored given its courage and heroism. However, it goes about the wrong way. If we firstly consider the Sharî’ah-based texts and thereafter the biography of the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), we see that this matter is in need of preparation. This preparation addresses two matters;

1. the spiritual
2. and the militaristic.

We already know that the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his companions were subjected to hardships by the polytheists in Makkah until Allâh (tabârak wa ta’âlâ) allowed some of them to emigrate even if it be to Abyssinia. Allâh thereafter allowed the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to emigrate from Makkah to al-Madînah. He was followed by those who were able to follow, and others stayed. The believers are up until today subjected to the worst punishments [by the Kuffâr etc], which history is a witness to.

What I want to say is, the Muslims of the world (should not) rush it. They should rather prepare themselves to fight against the disbelievers (Kuffâr) and expel them from the Muslim countries to the disbelieving countries. That is why Allâh (ta’âlâ) said in the Qur’ân:

“And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allâh and your enemy”

(8:60, interpretation of the meanings)

The intifada is undoubtedly just as (it was) before though even more evident. It has not been prepared at all in order to be able to fight against the disbelievers who have occupied this country (I.e. Palestine). Both spiritual and militaristic preparations are missing.

Secondly, we see that it is useless and worthless to confront various types of machine guns by way of stones. That is why I do not see any results from this intifada. It has now been going on for two entire years and they still stand on the same spot. Especially since the Arabic countries, who after all have a fairly [acceptable] military force, doesn’t help our brothers militaristically.

Attaining Two Rewards for Trying to Accomplish what You are Aiming For

by Ahmed Abu Turaab

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,

“Indeed those things which inhibit a person from attaining what he is aiming for are numerous.  But by seeking Allaah’s Aid, the Mighty and Majestic, and by expending [the required] effort he will achieve his goal.  And let it be known that every time the diversion is stronger then the one seeking [his goal] will be in a jihaad, and that every time the distraction is stronger but the person drives it away then through that he will receive two rewards: the reward for doing the [righteous] action and the reward for repelling the hindrance and for this reason the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said,

“Ahead of you there are days of patience, when patience will be like grasping live coals, and the one who does good deeds will have the reward of fifty Companions,” because of the numerousness of the things that hinder.”

Squeezing in the Grave – is there any escape?

January 26, 2012 Leave a comment

Translated by Ahmed Abu Turaab
http://shaikhalbaani.wordpress.com

Questioner: He said in the Musnad … the hadith of Hudhaifah, who said, “We were with the Prophet of Allaah, صلى الله عليه وسلم, during a funeral. So when we got to the grave he sat down on his two shins and started to look at it, and then said, ‘The believer is squeezed in it one time such that his ‘hamaa’il’ are crushed, and the disbeliever is covered in Fire.’”

He said the hamaa’il are the veins of the testicles.  What does, “… the veins of his testicles are crushed …” mean?

Al-Albani: It’s an expression to show the severity of the punishment. [The compiler of the book said, 'I.e, his ribs are crushed to such an extent that it affects his testicles.']

Questioner: Namely, the believer will be squeezed to such an extent?

Al-Albani: And his ribs will overlap, no one will escape it, not even Sa’d ibn Mu’aadh [did] as he, عليه السلام, said in some authentic hadtihs.

Questioner: Namely, he will feel pain from this squeezing?

Al-Albani: … without doubt. When the ribs overlap then this is severe pain, but it does not persist. One squeezing and then everything returns to its natural state, if he was a righteous person then [he will be in the state of a] righteous person, and if he was an evil person then [he will be the state of an] evil person, as we just explained that a window is opened up in the grave for the dead person.

Questioner: Namely, the squeezing, there is no escape from it?

Al-Albani: There is no escape from it.

Refutation of the claim that Tawheed divides the Muslims – Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan al-Fawzaan

Listen to the translated audio clip of Shaykh Saalih Ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan where he answers the conception held by many ignorant Muslims today that being concerned with Tawheed is a cause for the division amongst the Muslims and that we must instead be more mindful of the plots of the Jews and Christians against Islaam. The Shaykh aptly explains that such a person is either an innovator, or a mushrik.

Don’t just be patient, be patient and along with that hope for a reward from Allaah for your patience during your calamity

December 24, 2011 1 comment

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,

“Indeed when a person faces calamities with patience [but] without hoping for a reward from Allaah, the calamity will become an expiation for his sins.  And if he shows patience along with hoping for a reward [from Allaah], then along with being an expiation for his sins it becomes a good recompense and reward.  And the meaning of hoping for Allaah’s reward [al-Ihtisaab] is that a person believes that he will soon be rewarded for the patience [he is showing], so he makes good his thoughts about Allaah and thus Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, will give him [a reward] according to what he thought of Him.”
