Should I beat my daughter? – Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak (hafithahuAllah)

Should I beat my daughter?
Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Baraak (hafithahuAllah)

Questioner:

Oh Shaykh may Allah rectify us and our offspring. If I want to beat my daughter due to a problem that occurred between her and her sister or due to her wrecking the house, or not listening to what her mother tells her or not listening to me; when I beat her she becomes frighten and says: “Dear father may Allah preserve you, I ask my Lord to enter you into paradise.”

So I am concerned about this dua especially since I continue to beat her and I say to myself, “Say, oh Allah, Enter me into paradise though I beat her”.

Shaykh Baraak: Why do you beat her? Why? Do not beat her! Why do you beat her?!

Questioner: Due to her disobeying her mother and her father.

Shaykh Baraak: No, No, do not beat her. Discipline her with words. Beating is not the appropriate means. Hitting is for violating the rights of Allah, for violating the rights of Allah. If she does not pray after reaching the age of ten then she is lightly hit as a means of discipline.

(Your beating her) is incorrect.

Some of the people go to the extreme. Some of the people punish their children with fire! This is ignorance.

Discipline is not torture! It is not torture! Show mercy and you will be shown mercy.

Do not beat your daughter. Discipline her (with words).  (Such as saying) ‘Shame on you, Shame on you’, ‘This is not correct.’ ’What is this you are doing?’

The Keys to Paradise

By Shaykh ul –Islaam Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah as-Salafi -Rahimullaah-

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- said:

Bukhari mentions in his ‘Saheeh’ from Wahab bin Munnabih that it was said to him: ‘Is not ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ the key to Paradise?’

He said: ‘Of course, however there is no key except that it has teeth, so if a key is brought which has teeth then it will be opened, otherwise it will not open.’

Ibn Qayyim continues:

Allaah Subhanahu has placed keys for everything that is necessary, and they open the way, so Allaah made purification the key for prayer, as the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘The key to prayer is purification.’ [Saheeh al-Jamia as-Sagheer No.5885] .

Like wise

  • Ihram is the key to Hajj,
  • Truthfulness is the key to righteousness,
  • Tawheed is the key to Paradise,
  • Asking good questions and being attentive is the key to knowledge,
  • Patience is the key to victory and triumph,
  • Gratitude is the key to increase of provision,
  • Remembrance of Allaah is the key to having loyalty to Allaah and His love,
  • Taqwa (piety) is the key to success,
  • Fervent desire and dread of Allaah is the key to being successful,
  • Dua’ (Supplicating) is the key to being responded to,
  • Zuhd (Abstaining from the luxuries of the world) is the key to desiring the Hereafter,
  • Reflecting about that which Allaah calls His slaves to is the key to Eemaan (having faith),
  • Making the heart accept Islaam and making it secure for Allaah and having sincerity for Him by having love and hate and fulfilling His commands and leaving the prohibitions is the key to going in front of Allaah,
  • Pondering upon the Qur’aan, and imploring Allaah before dawn and not sinning is the key to giving the heart life,
  • Being kind to the worshippers of the Creator and striving to benefit His worshippers is the key to obtaining mercy,
  • Striving to seek forgiveness from Allaah and Taqwa (piety) is the key to Rizq (provisions),
  • Obedience to Allaah and His Messenger is the key to honour,
  • Longing for the Hereafter is the key to being prepared for the Hereafter,
  • Fervent desire for Allaah and the Hereafter is the key to all goodness,
  • Love for the world, continuously longing for it and turning away from the Hereafter is the key to all evil.

This is a great matter from the most beneficial chapters of knowledge, namely knowing the keys to goodness and evil.’

The Government of Tawheed and Sunnah-The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Umar Bin Saalim Baazmool (may Allaah preserve him) quoted Shaikh Saaleh Al-Luhaydaan (may Allaah preserve him) who said:

This country is the heart of Islaam and its sanctuary. It has been blessed with many affairs of peace and security whose match is not found in the world. There is no doubt that it is unrestrictedly the best of governments in this world.

And this neither means that it is (perfect) nor that anyone says that it is perfect, rather it has mistakes and we have mistakes; however it is the best of governments upon the face of the earth. And for that reason, it is incumbent upon every Muslim within and outside of it to supplicate for it to be upon firmness, strong upon truth and giving assistance to the oppressed.

And the reason (for its success) is that it has remained upon the Pure Creed of of Tawheed, and because it establishes the prescribed Islamic legislated laws when the conditions for its establishment are fulfilled.

.. but their tongues rip apart the honor of both the dead and the living

Poisonous Tongues

Source: “al-Jawaabul-Kaafee/adDaa wad-Dawaa”.
Transcribed from: The Appendix of “An Explanation of the Hadeeth: “Say, ‘I believe in Allah’, and then be upright and steadfast.” | Ibn Rajab

Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim, rahimahullaah, said:

It is quite amazing how it can be easy upon a person to be cautious and wary with regards to [different impermissible acts such as]: eating from unlawful means, oppression, adultery and fornication, stealing, drinking intoxicants, looking at prohibited things and the likes, and yet quite difficult for him to be careful about the movement of his tongue. So bad that you find a person towards whom the people point to concerning his practice of the Religion, his asceticism, and worship, and despite this he says statements that anger Allaah greatly and he shows no concern about this, yet this statement will take him [to a Fire] that is farther than distance between east and west. (1)

How many people do you see from amongst those who have enough piety to abstain from lewd, indecent acts, oppression and wrong doing, but their tongues rip apart the honor of both the dead and the living and they show not a care in the least.

How To Protect Yourself From Showing Off

February 7, 2012 4 comments
An Exclusive Translation for Sisters Upon Al-Istiqaamah

The Shaykh, ‘Allaamah Zayd Ibn Muhammad Ibn Haadee Al-Madkhalee was asked:

Noble Shaykh, how does the believer distance himself from showing off in his actions? And does the people’s praise of him on account of his worship harm him?

He responded:

Actions are judged in accordance to the intentions.

As for the person who the people praise due to him performing good deeds and he did not do these acts except seeking the pleasure of Allah, then the people’s praise of him and their commendation is a testimony for what he is upon and this does not harm him.

However, if he notices something (i.e. in his heart) when the people praise and commend him or when he hears that someone praises him, if he notices something in his heart like amazement or showing off then he should turn to Allah; and he should say the supplication that has been reported upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):

“O Allah, I seek refuge with you from knowingly committing Shirk and I seek your forgiveness for what I have no knowledge of.”

[In the book there appears to be a typing error towards the latter part of the hadeeth, and Allah knows best.  So I have affirmed that which is found in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad of Imam Al-Bukhari and other hadeeth collections.]

Verily, this – by the Will of Allah – will remove what is in his heart from weakness or showing off, by the Might and Power of Allah.

Food and Gifts from Non-Muslims – Shaikh Muhammad Salih Al-Uthaimeen

Food and Gifts from Non-Muslims
Shaikh Muhammad Salih Al-Uthaimeen (May Allah have mercy on him)

QuestionOccasionally, for special events my non-Muslim neighbor sends me food and sweets.  Is it permissible for me to eat them?

Answer:  Yes, it is permissible for you to eat food given as a gift from a non-Muslim if you trust them because the prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) accepted a gift from a Jewish women which she gave in the form of a sheep and he also accepted a Jew’s invitation to share a meal and he ate (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam).  So, there is no problem in accepting the gifts of non-Muslims or eating their food with the condition that they are trustworthy (in that they would not try to harm you) and if you are worried or afraid (that they could harm you in some way i.e. serving you poisoned food etc.) then their invitation is not to be answered.  Likewise, it cannot be for a religious event or holiday like Christmas etc. as the gifts given for this event are not to be accepted.

Fathers whose Children will Intercede for Them on the Day of Judgement

Fathers whose Children will Intercede for Them on the Day of Judgement
by Ahmed Abu Turaab @ http://wp.me/p1lJtd-JT

Questioner: What kind of intercession is it that a child will do for his father when his father was someone who had given an aqiqah on behalf of that child? [The Aqiqah being the Sunnah of sacrificing two sheep for the new-born boy and one for the girl]

Al-Albaani: It is known in many hadiths that on the Day of Resurrection there will be young children standing at the gate of Paradise, crying and asking for their fathers. So Allaah the Blessed and Most High will send Jibreel عليه السلام to ask them why they are crying–even though He the Blessed and Most High knows better about them–so Jibreel عليه السلام will ask them and they will reply, saying, ‘We will not enter Paradise except that our fathers are with us.’ So the Lord of the Worlds will give permission to them and their fathers to enter Paradise.

So this type of intercession, i.e., hastening entry into Paradise, is what those fathers who offered aqiqah’s on behalf of their children, i.e., sacrificed on their behalf when they were born, deserve.

The Companions and the Time they Found the Body of the Prophet Daanyaal (Daniel)

by Ahmed Abu Turaab

Questioner:
The story which the ‘Imaams of the Da’wah’ report in some of their books, that some of the Companions found the body of the Prophet Daanyaal and so dug thirteen graves for it [such that they would bury him in one of them] so that the people would be unable to locate it, how far is this narration authentic?

Al-Albaani: Firstly, at the start of your question you mentioned, the ‘Imaams of the Da’wah, who are you referring to with that phrase?

Questioner: Shaikh Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab’s grandchildren.

Al-Albaani: But nowadays it usually refers to the Tablighi Jamaa’ah.

Questioner: I didn’t mean that.

Al-Albaani: You didn’t mean that but your wording gave that false impression, that’s why, according to what I understood [when you used that term], I found it strange that you attributed that to them because those people [i.e., Jamaa’atut-Tabligh] do not give important to such noble issues at all.

Questioner: True.

Al-Albaani: [Anyway], what is important is that this narration has an authentic, established basis, having many paths of narration. Right now I do not recall whether the particular details that you mentioned are correct. But what is important is that they really did find [his body] and then dug [the earth] and caused a river to flow over him [i.e., over the grave] such that it was not possible to go to it and glorify it or for it to be worshipped instead of Allaah the Blessed and Most High, this is established.

Ibn Baaz: Have a Set Amount You Read From the Quraan Daily

by Ahmed Abu Turaab

Shaikh Abdul-Aziz ibn Muhammad ibn Dawud said, “I was going with his eminence, may Allaah have mercy on him, from the Imaam Turki ibn Abdullaah mosque to his house when he asked me about reading the Quraan.  I told him I read it from time to time but that I did not have a set portion that I read daily.  So he said that I should take up an amount to read from the Quraan daily even if it was only a little, explaining that the person who has a set portion which he reads daily from the Quraan will finish it, but he who does not may finish reading it quickly one time but then months may pass and he will not have finished it, and he mentioned the example of a person who reads a juzz a day finishing it in a month and he who reaads two finishing it in fifteen days.”
