“Why don’t you allow us to perform tabarruk/make istighatha from the Prophet’s grave?”

“Why don’t you allow us to seek blessings from the Prophet’s grave?”
Answered by ash-Shaykh al-’Allaamah Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaymee

 Questioner:

He says: “What is the ruling on seeking blessings (tabarruk) from the Black Stone? And why don’t you allow us to seek blessings from the grave of the Prophet – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -?”

Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee:

[Why] don’t you allow?! Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa bil-Laah! I ask you, O brother, may Allaah give you success: is it permissible for me or other than me to allow or forbid? Is it permissible for us to declare halaal (lawful) or haraam (unlawful) on our own accord?

{And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: “This is lawful and this is forbidden,” so as to invent lies against Allaah.} [Sûrah an-Nahl (16): verse 116]

Did you pay attention? If we allow on our own accord, then we are liars and forgers. And if we declare lawful on our own accord, then we are liars and forgers. And [likewise] if we declare unlawful, declare lawful, make obligatory or legislate. For the one who makes obligatory or legislates on his own accord, then he is a Taaghoot [1] from the Tawaagheet [2], even if he testifies that nothing has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammed is the Messenger of Allaah. Do you understand, O servant of Allaah? So do not blame us and say, “Why don’t you allow us to do this and why do you forbid us from that?” Because if we allow things on our own accord, then we are Tawaagheet! Na’am! The one who declares lawful and unlawful is Allaah! We are not from those whom Allaah said about,

{They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allaah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allaah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary)…} [Sûrah at-Tawbah (9): verse 31]

So declaring lawful and declaring unlawful is in the Hands of Allaah, in the Book of Allaah – jalla wa ‘alaa -. So the lawful is that which Allaah and His Messenger declared lawful, and the unlawful is that which Allaah and His Messenger declared unlawful.

“Verily, that which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear. And between the two of them are doubtful matters about which many people do not know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honour. But he who falls into doubtful matters [eventually] falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepard who shepards [his flock] around a sanctuary, he is certain to pasture [his flock] in it. And verily, every king has a sanctuary, and verily, Allaah’s sanctuary is His prohibitions. And verily, in the body there is a lump of flesh, which, if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and which, if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Truly, it is the heart.”

So the unrestricted legislation belongs to Allaah and His Messenger – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -. And it is not permissible for anyone to legislate or prohibit something which Allaah and His Messenger – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam – have not legislated or prohibited. As for saying, “Is seeking blessings from the Black Stone allowed?” No, this is not permissible. Rather, what do we do? We kiss it, touch it or point to it, following the example of the Prophet – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -. And where are you from the authentic statement of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab in Saheeh al-Bukhaaree,

“I know that you are only a stone which can neither bring benefit nor cause harm. Were it not that I had seen the the Messenger of Allaah - salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam – kiss you, I would not have kissed you.”

So pay attention to this, O servant of Allaah! As for the second part of the question; seeking blessings (tabarruk) from the grave of the Prophet – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -, this is not allowed, nor from the grave of other than him. Rather you seek blessings by following him – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -! Here lies the barakah (blessing); by obeying his commands and staying away from his prohibitions. As for wiping over the walls, then this form of tabarruk is forbidden! And if a believer believes that this wall benefits him or has power to harm him, or that the one behind the wall has power to remove harm from him or bring good, then this is Shirk, which because of it Allaah sent the Messengers and sent down the Books.

So beware of this, O servant of Allaah! For verily, this is extremely dangerous! And whoever attaches himself to a grave, even if he is a Prophet or angel, then he has commited Shirk! Meaning: whoever thinks that the person in the grave hears him, benefits him, answers his supplications, responds to him and raises him, then he is a mushrik (polytheist) and Allaah will not accept from him any sarf (repentance or obligatory acts) or ‘adl (ransom or supererogatory acts).

{And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmeer (the thin membrane over the datestone). If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad) like Him Who is the All-Knower (of each and everything).} [Sûrah Fâtir (35): verses 13-14]

So pay attention to this, O servant of Allaah! By Allaah, the Prophet – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam – will declare himself innocent from those who wipe over his grave or hope for him to fulfill their needs or to remove their distresses on the Day of Resurrection, just as ‘Eesaa (Jesus) will declare himself innocent from the Christians.

{And (remember) when Allaah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): “O ‘Eesaa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allaah?” He will say: “Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my innerself though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden and unseen.” Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allaah) did command me to say: Worship Allaah, my Lord and your Lord.} [Sûrah al-Mâ-idah (5): verses 116-117]

So whoever comes and stretches out his hand out to the grave and seeks help from him and asks him to remove harm; by Allaah, the Messenger of Allaah – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam – will declare himself innocent from him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be turned to that which he attached himself to. And he (the Prophet) is free from him and from his deeds. Indeed, he (the one who does this) will be free from the whole religion of Islaam. Whoever does this, then he has freed himself from the whole religion. Whoever supplicates to other than Allaah, seeks help (in times of need) from other than Allaah, slaughters for other than Allaah, takes an oath by other than Allaah or seeks help from other than Allaah, even if he is the best of the creation, our sayyid (master), Imaam and leader, our Prophet Muhammed – salla Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam -; by Allaah, if you ask from him the fulfillment of your needs and the removal of your distresses, then you are a mushrik (polytheist) and Allaah will not accept from you sarf (repentance or obligatory acts) or ‘adl (ransom or supererogatory acts).

[1] Taaghoot:The word Taaghoot covers a wide range of meanings. It means anything worshipped other than the Real God (Allaah), i.e. all false deities. It may be satan, devils, idols, stones, sun, stars, angels, human beings, who were falsely worshipped and taken as Taaghoot. Likewise saints, graves, rulers, leaders, etc., are falsely worshipped and wrongly followed, but the one who does not accept to be worshipped will not be considered as a Taaghoot. Sometimes Taaghoot means a false judge who gives a false judgement. [See Tafseer ibn Katheer]

[2] Tawaagheet: plural of Taaghoot.

Answer concerning Prophet’s marriage to Aisha – By Shaykh Muhammad Al Aqeel

Answer concerning Prophet’s marriage to Aisha
By Shaykh Muhammad Al Aqeel

Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadee Al Madhkali reads the question:

The questioner says: What is the best answer to respond with to the disbeliever when he asks me concerning the marriage of the Prophet, prayers and peace are upon him, to Aisha when she was nine years old?

Shaykh Al Aqeel:

The Prophet, prayers and peace are upon him is more knowledgeable than us and that Kafir. It is said to this western Kafir: What’s going on with your daughters today? What is the condition of your daughters? O unfortunate one. Mourn over yourself O unfortunate one if you are going to mourn. The western statistics do not find a virgin in high school at all, never. These are their statistics.

If there comes to you something reproachable from my defects; then this testifies to the fact that I am complete.

We presented this to doctors who are specialists. Does it harm the young girl who has reached the age of puberty to marry early? (The answer) No. This does not harm her. This is what the doctors said.

This affair is very normal. When the young girl reaches puberty even if she is nine years old for her to marry does not harm her at all; it does not harm her at all.

This is not anything to be ashamed of. Shame is for the daughter to fornicate with her lover on her father’s and mother’s bed with no disapproval. This is something to be ashamed of. As for that which the natural inclination proves, and the intelligent people have agreed upon its permissibility then this is nothing to be ashamed of.

In Defense of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) – by Shaikh Rabee

In Defense of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace)
by Shaikh Rabee’ bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala)

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

[This scholarly article is from over six years ago, in refutation of the disbelieving criminals who wickedly tried to distort Prophet Muhammad's message via the drawing of despicable cartoons in an infamous and hated Danish newspaper]

Excerpt: “Some newspapers and other forms of media have spread hurtful, vicious information that could only emanate from the jealous, arrogant enemies of Islam and its Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace). That conduct comprises a calumniation of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah and a distortion of his message by jealous individuals and Christian organizations, as well as envious and irresponsible columnists, like those who write for the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Its writers mocked the best of Mankind and the most distinguished of the Messengers, Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), the likes of whose nobility, honour, justice, and manners the earth has never known of. Neither has it known of a more complete and comprehensive message than his, nor a more just and merciful one.

It is a message that embraces belief in all of the prophets and messengers, honoring them and defending them from calumniation and defamation. It has also preserved an accurate history of the prophets, including Jesus and Moses. So whoever disbelieves in Muhammad and speaks of him in a derogatory manner has disbelieved in all of the prophets and disparaged of all of them.

Recently, some uncivilized miscreants made fun of the Prophet, drawing various pictures of him. Twelve despicable pictures, one of them portrayed him (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) wearing a turban resembling a bomb on his head.

We say to these criminals and their envious supporters in Europe and America: You are accusing others of your very own crimes! (*)

Let it be known that never did Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), nor his righteous successors or any of his honorable companions, ever establish factories for even the most primitive of weapons, like swords and spears, let alone atomic bombs, long-range missiles, or any other weapon of mass destruction.

Never did Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) build a single weapon factory. Rather, he was sent as a mercy for the entire creation, to guide all Mankind towards happiness in their worldly lives and in their hereafter, such that they fulfill their Creator’s right upon them, for it is He who created them to worship Him alone. Whoever rejects this is truly a criminal deserving punishment in this life and the next, by the Lord of all that exists, the Creator of this universe and its Master.

As for you O Westerners, claimants of civilization, you have constitutions and statutes that destroy upright moral character and permit all kinds of forbidden acts, the likes of fornication and homosexuality, as well as usury which destroys the economies of entire nations, and the eating of improperly slaughtered animals (dead meats) and pork, something that causes the loss of concern for women’s values, and thus a man does not feel protective of his wife, sister, or daughter, and thus she fornicates with or intimately befriends whomever she pleases. These are some of the means which lead to ruin, and they have been prohibited in all of the prophetic messages.

As for bombs and all other weapons of destruction, war planes, tanks, and long-range missiles, you are the ones who engineered and manufactured them with your satanic minds that only think about transgression, animosity, oppression, attacking, tyranny, conquering entire races of people and enslaving them, spilling their blood, and usurping their natural resources. You think only about annihilating those who oppose you and stand in the way of your greedy aspirations, your oppression and spreading of hatred. All this wrapped up in the name of civilization, human rights, freedom, and justice!

All intelligent people know this about you. For your dark history is overflowing with uncivil and terrorist acts, a history recorded against you by both your enemies and allies alike.”

The Correct Stance of Every Muslim on the Film about Muhammed (peace be upon him) – Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee

September 20, 2012 1 comment

Published on 20 Sep 2012 by
Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee – Teacher at the Prophet’s Masjid in Madeenah

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

Shaikh Saalih as-Suhaymee (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala) said:

“Firstly, there is no doubt that abusing the Prophets is not tolerated by any religion or intellect, and I do not think those intellectuals in those non-Islaamic countries accept this (film) either. And Allaah has raised the mention of our Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), so we are not in need of anyone to clarify his status for us after (what has been stated) about his mention in the Qur`an and Sunnah.

[Allaah said to His Messenger ('alayhi as-salatu wa salaam:]

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ
And (have We not) raised high your fame? (Ash-Sharh, ayah 4)

No one approves of this behavior, and I do not think that even those countries would approve of such acts as this. The Mufti has issued a clarification in the Kingdom of Sa’udia Arabia, denouncing that vile film – which does not harm anyone except those who produced it. It does not harm the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) at all, for indeed Allaah Tabarak wa Ta’aala has honored him and revered him.

Therefore, if anyone abuses the Prophets (such as Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Noah, etc…), then that does not mean the Prophets are harmed due to it; rather the person (who abuses them) is harmed and he will receive the evil repercussions. So it is upon us as Muslims to deal with such events according to the Islaamic legislation.

Therefore, the demonstrations and the storming of the embassies or the killing of innocent people – who are not involved in these affairs – is an evil deed according to us Muslims. We do not approve of this in any circumstance, and this is not from our religion and it is not from our legislation. Thus, the storming of the embassies is not from our religion nor is the killing of so and so ambassador nor is assaulting others a part of our Religion, al-Haneef (The [only] Monotheistic Religion [Islaam]).

Our religion is a religion of peace; our religion is a religion of goodness. Our religion prohibits assaulting others. Our religion prohibits abusing others. Our religion gives the due right to its people (whether) Muslim or non-Muslim. And that which we hold to be from our Religion is that these chaotic actions that are carried out by some of the youth do not represent the religion of Islaam or the Muslim population.

Rather, these actions are the result of their emotions and that is not tolerated from them. And we denounce such actions with every kind of denouncing. Just as we have extremely denounced this film and its likes which was produced by those rabbles from those countriesm whom have only harmed themselves before harming the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

The disbelieving Quraish used to abuse the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), the would call him blameworthy, a poet, and sorcerer and called him whatever they called him (from the vile nicknames), they wounded his head, they broke his molar tooth, and they placed the intestines of a camel on top of his head. They did what they did, however the Muslims (the companions) did not protest or storm or kill, because this does not serve the Religion of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala.

So I want the youth to understand that they should return back to the scholars who are well cultivated in this issue, those who refute the distortion of the extremists and (refute) those who (distort) the text (Qur`an and Sunnah) to suit their desires, and likewise the ignorant who misinterpret the text.

There is no doubt that the killing of the innocent – whether a Muslim or non-Muslim – is prohibited, and our Religion does not tolerate it, especially if there is a treaty between us and them, like peace treaties or an agreement between us and them.

This is the Sunnah of Allaah with His creation. So the ambassador serves as an emissary to another country, and the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) did not kill (the emissaries) of Caesar and the king of Persia and other than those who were upon the same religion as them. So it is obligatory upon us to understand these affairs. Protests are not from the Religion of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala; rather it is a symbol of demagogism which the Religion of Allaah does not tolerate.

And we – by Allaah – love Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) more than we love ourselves and our families and our parents and our children and all the people together. However, this love should not cause us to go beyond the boundaries which (Allaah) has laid down for us from the legislated rulings of Islaam. (It should not make us) enter into the religion that which is not part of it.

The Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) warned against killing the one who holds a covenant with the Muslims, or the one who is under the protection of the Muslims, or the one who is under a peace treaty with the Muslims.

The ambassador is considered to be just like the one who is under a peace treaty with the Muslims, and assaulting him is in opposition to the guidance of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), who said: Whoever kills a person under a covenant will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.

And that ruling is also applicable to the one who is under the protection of the Muslims and Dhimee (Jews and Christians who live under the law and protection of the Muslims).

So those people are under our protection in our lands; it is not permissible to violate them with any type of violence. It is obligatory to return to the scholars in this affair as I have said, those who will judge according to the truth and justice. As for dealing with this matter with uncontrolled emotions, then we should place boundaries upon this and free ourselves from it and from its practitioner.”

Do not circulate what the disbelievers said about the Prophet – Shaykh Fawzan

Do not circulate what the disbelievers said about the Prophet
Prayers and peace are upon him
Explained by Shaykh Fawzan

Question: O Noble Shaykh, may Allah grant you success: Is it permissible to spread and circulate what the disbelievers have said, and the evil they have done against the Messenger of Allah?

Shaykh Fawzan: This is not permissible, even if it is said in an effort to criticize it. This is not permissible. This is spreading evil. Thus this is not permissible. It is obligatory that this is concealed and not spread. It is criticized but not spread.

Advice In Light Of The Recent Film Degrading The Prophet Muhammad – Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan

September 17, 2012 4 comments

Published on 16 Sep 2012 by Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan – Translated by Raha Batts

Question: “O Eminent Shaykh, may Allah grant you Tawfeeq, there are many questions as to what is your advice to the students of knowledge and other than them regarding that which has happened recently regarding the derogatory film about the Prophet, what is the advice of your Eminence regarding that?”

Answer: Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan [Hafidhahullah]:

”Our advice regarding that is to have comportment and not to show disapproval in this manner; demonstrations or harming innocent people, and wasting wealth, this is not permissible. Those who must respond to this are the scholars, not the common folk. The scholars respond to these affairs. They (i.e. the Kuffaar) want to cause chaos amongst us and they wish to affect us; this is what they want. They want us to fight one another. The soldiers withold while these people attack; and there occurs beating, killing, and injury. This is what they want. Calm down, calm down. Those who are responsible for responding are the people of knowledge and insight. Or they could chose not to respond to them and resolve not to respond. The pagans used to call the Messenger a magician, a soothysayer, a liar etc. and Allaah commanded him to have patience. They did not protest in Makkah nor did they destroy any of the homes of the pagans nor did they kill anyone. Patience and comportment until Allaah the Glorified and High facilitates a way for the Muslims.

That which is obligatory is to have comportment; especially in these times and in these tribulations and within this evil today which is going on within the lands of the Muslims.  It is obligatory to have comportment and not rush into these affairs; and the commoners are not fit to deal with this, for the ignorant do not know. None should deal with this except the people of knowledge and insight.”

Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) – By Sheikh Ali Al Haddad

September 9, 2012 1 comment

Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad صلى ا عليه و سلم
By Sheikh Ali Al Haddad
Translated by Abdullah Boyd

((The first khutbah))
As for what follows:

From the signs of the Prophet صلى ا عليه و سلم is that Allah aided him with miracles that were beyond human capability in order for this to be a proof of his truthfulness, and to increase the faith of those who already believed in him, and to establish an argument against those who opposed and disbelieved in him.

And Allah aided our Prophet صلى ا عليه و سلم with many miracles, and there is no doubt that the greatest of the miracles is the Noble Quran, which shall remain until Allah decrees to raise it up shortly before the Day of Judgment. And the effects of knowing the miracles of the Prophet صلى ا عليه و سلم is that will increase the believers’ faith concerning him; therefore I wanted to remind myself and you about some of these
miracles.

Splitting of the moon:

And from the miracles of the Prophet صلى ا عليه و سلم is the splitting of the moon; and this occurred when the pagans requested that the Prophet صلى ا عليه و سلم show them a sign, so he split the moon into two segments, a segment of the right of Hiraa mountain and a segment on the left of it. But still they did not believe, rather they said, ‘Muhammad has bewitched us’. And Allah spoke the truth about them when He said, ‘ الظّالِمِينَ بِآيَاتِ اِّ يَجْحَدُونَ فَإِنّهُمْ ل يُكَذّبُونَكَ وَلَكِنّ “It is not you that they deny, but it is the Verses (the Qur’an) of Allah that the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers) deny.” (Chapter 6 verse 33) Ibn Kathir mentioned that there was built in India a temple, and on the night the moon was split it was written about on this temple, therefore this is proof that the splitting of the moon was not only sighted by the people of Mecca. Rather, it was sighted by those whom Allah had decreed for it to be sighted by.

Ibn al-Qayyim Summarized the extent of Prophet’s (peace be upon him) Noble Manners

June 25, 2012 3 comments

Exclusive excerpt from the translator’s introduction to “Upright Moral Character” by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (troid.ca)

In the Name of Allaah, the All-Compassionate, the Ever-Merciful

All praise is due to Allaah, the Lord of all that exists, and may He raise the rank of His last Prophet and Messenger, Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillaah, and that of his family and Companions, and may He grant them all peace.

Upright moral character is an integral part of the correct implementation of the Religion of Islaam.  In fact, it is so essential and important that the Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) said about it:

“There is nothing heavier in the Scales
(on the Day of Judgment) than good character.” [1]

And the Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) was our role model and the premier example of a man who displayed the finest possible character.  About him, Allaah, the Exalted, has said:

Verily, in the Messenger of Allaah you have a fine role model.
[Soorah al-Ahzaab 33:21]

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have Mercy on him) summarized the extent of his noble manners by saying:

The Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) used to greet the children when he passed by them.  Sometimes, a little girl would take him by the hand and he would allow her to lead him wherever she wanted.  He (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) used to lick his fingers after eating.  He (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) would be in the service of his family when at home.  Never would he become angry because of something personal.  He (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) used to repair his own sandals and mend his own torn clothes.  He would milk his goat himself for his own family.  He would feed his own camel.  He used to eat with his servants, sit in the company of the poor people, and personally take care of the needs of widows and orphans.  He would be the one to initiate the greeting when meeting people.  He would respond to the humblest of invitations.  He (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) lived a very modest lifestyle, a man of soft manners, naturally kind, easy to get along with, having a pleasant smile on his face, gracefully humble, extremely generous but not wasteful, soft-hearted and gentle in his dealings with each and every Muslim, lowering the wings of humility to the believers, bearing their companionship in such a gentle way. [2]

In a time when the West pushes its deficient values and misguided moral codes on the cultures of the world, it is imperative that Muslims realize the completeness of the guidance of the Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace), and realize that our true honor and distinction among the nations, as well as our success in the Hereafter, lies in embracing his guidance, in all affairs of belief and action.

Based on the scholars’ continual advice to the Muslim youth, combined with the specific need that Muslims in the West have to understand and implement upright moral character, the importance of this book and the need for its translation into the English language becomes crystal clear.  And what better guidebook than one based on the character of the Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace), authored by an exemplary scholar like Shaykh Ibn al-’Uthaymeen, known for his outstanding manners!

Writing ‘Ya Allaah & Ya Muhammad’ – Shaykh Rabee

Writing ‘Ya Allaah & Ya Muhammad’
by Rabee’ ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee
Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

The Question:

A lot of what we see in certain Masajid is ‘Ya Allaah & Ya Muhammad’ (O Allaah & O Muhammad) written on the Mihrab, is it permissible to pray in the likes of these Masajid?

The answer:

This is clear from what we have seen in Pakistan and Afghanistan – with great regret – I swear by Allaah we saw this written in the cars of the Mujahideen; actually those who claim to be Mujahideen! And they would not accept any advice, they would continue upon these aspects of Shirk! You would see it written in their shops and their Masajid: ‘Ya Allaah, Ya Ali, Ya Ghawth, Ya Hussain, Ya AbdulQadir, Ya such and such!!’ as well as other aspects of Shirk!

Seeking aid from other than Allaah is Shirk; by saying ‘Ya Muhammad’, then this is committing Shirk with Allaah (associating partners to Allaah). Muhammad was the Messenger of Allaah, the slave of Allaah and His Messenger –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam. Therefore, if one says ‘Ya Allaah and Ya Muhammad’, then that person has made Muhammad as an equal to Allaah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala.

The Messenger –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam- did not come except to destroy this polytheism, and to rectify the deviated nation and at the head of what they had was committing Shirk (associating) with Allaah -Azza wa Jal. The Messenger came to purify the Dunyaa, the hearts, the minds and intellects from Shirk with Allaah –Azza wa Jal- and the filth connected with Shirk.

He –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam- taught us pure Tawheed with the texts of the Qur’aan, the texts of the Sunnah and practically implementing them. He –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam- ordered us to level the graves, and to destroy idols.

The Messenger –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam- said:

‘Do not undertake journeys except to three Masajid – only these, not to graves, nor any place [for worship] – the Masjid al-Haraam, and this masjid of mine, and Masjid al-Aqsa.’

This is because these Masajid were built by the Prophets for the Tawheed of Allaah having Ikhlaas (Sincerity) of the Deen for Allaah – Azza wa Jal.

This action of writing ‘Allaah & Muhammad’ began in al-Madinah – since we know these things we can evaluate it – we knew the plots of the Ahl-ul-Bida’.

There was a man named Siraaj Rahman a colleague of mine in the University and he was from the students of Abul-Hasan an-Nadawi – I don’t know whether – I saw this in Kenya or a story had been narrated to him that this had begun to spread in al-Madinah. Anyway, he mentioned that Abul-Hasan an-Nadawi said the statement: ‘Allaah & Muhammad’ and this is disbelief, what they mean by this is that Muhammad is a partner to Allaah –Azza wa Jal; Allaah & Muhammad are equal.

There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah; I testify that there is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, I testify that there is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger; this is the highest status for this Noble Prophet –alayhi as-Sallat wa Sallam.

The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘Do not over praise me, like the Christians over praised the son of Maryam. Indeed I am a slave of Allaah and His Messenger.’

I have seen this clearly and I would have waged war against it, and if I saw it in a Masjid I would advise the Imam of the Masjid. Likewise in Masjid al-Qiblatayn – Masjid al-Amoodi -, I spoke to the Imam, but he did not do anything! So I spoke to al-Amoodi who was responsible for the Masjid, and he hastened – may Allaah reward him with goodness- and effaced these things.

And in the Masjid near my home in al-Madina they had written ‘Allaah & Muhammad’ so I advised the Imam and he said: ‘we will change it, we will change it.’ But he kept postponing it and did not change it! There was a good young man present who said: ‘I’ll sort it out.’ Then he went and covered it, and that was the end of that, and all praise be to Allaah.

One day I was coming from Batthan and entered Madinah and there was a pickup truck in front of me and it had ‘Ya Allaah Ya Muhammad’ written on it in red. So I followed him and he began speeding up, he noticed that I was following him, so he began to speed up even more, so I gave chase and pursued him until we reached Qurban, he stopped his car and got out and said to me: ‘Shall I wipe it off?’ and I hadn’t even spoken to him yet! He knew and felt this is what I was pursuing him about, so I told him ‘Yes, wipe it off.’

This confirms that there is a battle going on, the battle of these grave worshipping deviants in the land of Tawheed!

How Did Your Affair Begin, O Messenger of Allaah?

ad-Daarimee reported (1/8-9), and al-Haakim (2/616-617), and Ahmad (4/184) from `Utbah ibn Mas`ood as-Sulamee, and he was from the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), that he narrated that: A man said to Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam):  “How did your affair begin, O Messenger of Allaah?”

So he said:

<< I was being taken care of by a woman from Banoo Sa`d ibn Bakr. So I went off with a son of hers along with some of our goats, and we did not take any provision along with us. So I said: “O my brother, go and bring us some provision from our mother.” So my brother went off and I remained with the goats. Then two white beings that were flying came, being as if they were two eagles. Then one of them said to the other: “Is it him?” The other one replied; “Yes”. So they hastened to me, took hold of me, and threw me upon the ground on my back. Then they split open my chest and extracted two black clots from it, and one of them said to his companion: “Bring me ice-water”, and he washed my insides with it. Then he said: “Bring me snow-water”, and he washed my heart with it. Then he said: “Bring me tranquillity”. And he planted it in my heart. Then one of them said to his companion: “Sew it up”, so he sewed it up and sealed it with the seal of Prophethood. Then one of them said to the other: “Place him upon a scale, and place a thousand of his nation upon another scale.” >>

Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said :

<< “So I saw a thousand people above me and feared that some of them were going to fall upon me.” He said: “If his whole nation were weighed against him he would outweigh them.” Then they went off and left me. >>

Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

<< And I became very afraid, and I went back to my mother and informed her of what I had experienced. So I wished that I had been mistaken for someone else. She said: “I entrust you to Allaah’s protection”. So she prepared a camel of hers for riding, placed me upon the saddle, and rode behind me until we reached my (true) mother. Then she said: “I have fulfilled my trust and my responsibility, and she told her what had happened to me, and this did not alarm her. She said: “When he came out from me I saw light which shone and revealed the palaces of Shaam.”>>

-Shaikh al-Albaanee said in “as-Saheehah” (no.373):
“…..this chain of narration is “hasan”… and this hadeeth has many witnesses…”
