Question: These days the television and video exist which ruins the youth and causes division in their thinking and they become blind followers of the enemies of Islaam. So what is the way or how do we advise the people to avoid this devil (the T.V.), and what are the harms that are caused by this television? Read more…

The look is one of the poisonous arrows of the Devil

The look is one of the poisonous arrows of the Devil. If a person shoots it out, it is indeed a poisonous missile that kills the one who sends it. This arrow returns back to the heart of the one looking.

The look is a poisonous arrow that returns to the heart of the onlooker, striking it and affecting it, or killing it and causing it to die. So none of them should look at what Allaah has forbidden. The creation of this look and this eyesight is a blessing, which humans must use for only that which Allaah has permitted. He must use them for only those things that Allaah has allowed and refrain from using them for those things that Allaah has forbidden. Allaah says about men: “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze.” [Surah An-Noor: 30] And He says about women: “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze.” [Surah An-Noor: 31]

The Recording Angel on the Left Waits…

Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the Messenger of Allah (salallahu alayhi wa salim) said, “ The companion (Angel) on the left lifts his pen for six hours for the Muslim slave that errs or sins. If this slave repents and seeks Allah’s forgiveness for that error or sin, the Angel doesn’t record it. And if the slave doesn’t ask Allah for forgiveness, the Angel records it once.

Collected by At-Tabarani in Kabir (7667 ) , Abu Na’eem in Hilya (6/124), Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ib (6788). Shaykh Al-Albani graded this hadeeth as being Hasan in Saheehah (1209)

Benefits for this topic:

Lifts the pen for six hours: These six hours could refer to astrological time, or another time period.

The Muslim slave that errs or sins: Means the Angel won’t record the sin or error before the six hours passes. He simply delays writing it.

If the slave repents: This refers to the salve seeking sincere repentance for the sin or error he’s done.

The Angel doesn’t record it: Means the Angel on the left ignores writing it.

If the slave doesn’t ask Allah for forgiveness: This means the Angel on the left writes it down as one bad deed, unlike the Angel that records the good deeds. The Angel on the right writes down a good deed ten times.[ Faydul Qadir Al-Manawee]

What do we say during an earthquake?

Q- What do we say during an earthquake?

A – At the time of an earthquake, eclipse, strong wind or flood, (we must) repent to Allah, beseech Him, ask Him for well-being, remember Him a great deal and seek His forgiveness.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said at the time of an eclipse:

“When you see that, then turn to remembrance of Allah and call upon Him and ask for His forgiveness.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

It is also mustahabb (recommended) to show compassion to the poor and needy, and to give charity to them, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Show mercy, you will be shown mercy.” (Ahmad)

And he said: “Those who show mercy will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Show mercy to those who are on earth and the One Who is in heaven will show mercy to you.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

And he also said:

“The one who does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.” (Al-Bukhari)

It is related from Umar Bin Abdul Aziz that he used to write to his emirs to give charity when earthquakes took place.

One of the means of being safe and sound from all evils is for those in authority to hasten to restrain the foolish and compel them to adhere to the truth, and to implement the laws of Allah among them, and to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, as Allah says:

“The believers, men and women, are Awliyaa’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al?Ma‘roof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al?Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salaah, and give the Zakaah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (Qur’an, 9:71)

“Verily, Allah will help those who help His (Cause). Truly, Allah is All?Strong, All?Mighty. Those (Muslim rulers) who, if We give them power in the land, (they) enjoin Iqamat?as?Salah (i.e. to perform the five compulsory congregational prayers), to pay the Zakaah and they enjoin Al?Ma‘roof, and forbid Al?Munkar (i.e. they make the Qur’an as the law of their country in all the spheres of life). And with Allah rests the end of (all) matters (of creatures).” (Qur’an, 22:40-41)

And there are many verses with similar meanings.

Some of the Signs of Magicians, Sorcerers and How To Identify Them

- by Abu.Iyaad . Source : Dajjaal.com

Magicians practicing sorcery have certain features and signs that prove that they are obeying and worshipping the devils (shayaateen) and are in league with them. The ruling of magic (witchcraft, sorcery) is that it is disbelief (kufr) and anyone indulging in it is a kafir (disbeliever). There is no such thing as “good” magic. All magic (sihr) is haraam.

Signs of the Practitioners of Magic (Sihr)

From these signs are:

  • The magician will ask you for some clothing which has been in direct contact with your body, they are looking for something which has traces of sweat upon it. It can also be a comb, or some hair, or a picture (photo).
  • The magician will ask you for your name and the name of your mother. This type of magician is greater in his disbelief than others, because the devils are prepared to work for him through names alone, without the need for any clothing or hair and the likes, which indicates his obedience to the devils is greater than others, and that he has reached a level with these devils that other lesser magicians have not.
  • He will chant or mumble what are talismans (spells, amulets) but in a language that is not understandable.
  • He will ask a person to keep away from the people for a defined time in a room in which no sunlight enters.
  • He will often be found in a dark room.
  • He will often use bukhoor (incense) or a fire in which he will put bukhoor (incense).
  • The magician will ask you for a sacrificial animal (chicken, sheep etc.) with a given description (i.e. age, size etc.) so that it is sacrificed in a specific way (without Allaah’s name being mentioned), and then its blood is used to smear on to the patient’s body (where he has his pain or disease), or the patient may be requested to go to a deserted buildings or places and asked to smear the blood, or it may be on stones or on trees in a certain location.
  • On some occasions the magician may tell the person his name, his mother’s name, the place he has come from, or the reason (problem, ailment, need) for which he has come. He gets this knowledge through the devils he is giving obedience to, and which he is summoning for this purpose.
  • He may give the person an amulet in the shape of a triangle or a square (made out of paper, or a cloth), or it could be out of leather, or it could be made out of silver, and inside of it there are written calls for help from the devils, coded through numbers and symbols, and words written backwards. He may ask the person to hang them around his neck or put them under the pillow.
  • He will write talismans, or amulets in which he mixes parts of the Qur’an, the names of the Prophets, or Companions, along with unknown names, symbols and combinations of numbers and letters.
  • He will write or prepare talismans on paper or otherwise and which will often contain five pointed stars – these five pointed stars represent Satan in occult symbolism.
  • He may give the person certain artifacts and ask him to bury them in the earth, in a specific location.
  • He may give the person pieces of paper mixed with pieces of wood and ask him to burn these papers and wood and use them as bukhoor (incense, fumigation) to fumigate himself with the smoke. And these papers are likely to be pages of the Qur’an torn into small pieces.
  • He may give him the skin of an animal (like a fox or wolf or jackal), or its teeth and ask him to carry them, or he may give him black threads, or cords to hang in his car.
  • He may ask the person to wear a garment he gives him and ask him to wear it on a specific defined days, and the garment will be filled with talismans and amulets (they will be stitched into the garment).
  • He may give the person a ring to wear onto which talismans are etched, or a small padlock with its key inserted around which a talisman is attached with sellotape. And other odd things like this.
  • From the signs of the magician is belittlement of the Qur’an and its desecration, and this takes place in many ways.

These signs are found amongst many people claiming to be “faith-healers”, and they come out in the garb of faith, pretending to be pious, and they place advertisements in the papers and on the radio and television (in some Muslim lands) and in the Western lands also. So you should beware of these liars and worshipers of the devils, and warn everyone against them – to see how these people became magicians in the first place, read the following article:

{Must Read} All Major Innovations and Deviations Begin Small and Insignificant

    February 11, 2011 3 comments

All Major Innovations and Deviations Begin Small and Insignificant
Beware of small innovations because they grow until they become large.[1]

This is the case with every innovation introduced in this Ummah. It began as something small, bearing resemblance to the truth which is why those who entered it were mislead and then were unable to leave it. So it grew and became the religion which they followed and thus deviated from the Straight Path and left Islaam.[2]

[1] A striking example of how small innovations lead a  person into committing major innovations is found in the narration reported by ad-Daarimee in his Sunan (1/79)

al-Hakam bin al-Mubaarak informed us that Amr ibn Yahyaa said my father related from his father who said:

“We used to sit by the door of ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ood before the Salaatul Ghadaat (morning prayer), so that when he came out we would walk with him to the masjid. (One day) Aboo Moosaa al-Ash’aree came to us and said, “Has Aboo ‘Abdur-Rahmaan come out yet?” We replied, “No.” Therefore, he sat down with us until he came out. When he came out, we all stood along with him,

so Abu Moosaa said to him, “O Aboo ‘Abdur-Rahmaan I have just seen something in the masjid which I deemed to be evil, but all praise is for Allaah, I did not see anything except good!”

He inquired, “Then what is it?”

(Aboo Moosaa) replied, “If you live you will see it. I saw in the masjid people sitting in circles awaiting the Prayer. In each circle they had pebbles in their hands and a man would say ‘repeat Allaahu Akbar a hundred times.’ So they would repeat it a hundred times. Then he would say, ‘say Laa ilaaha illallaah a hundred times.’ So they would say it a hundred times. Then he would say, ‘say Subhaanallaah a hundred times.’ So they would say it a hundred times.”

(Ibn Mas’ood) asked, “What did you say to them?”

(Aboo Moosaa) said, “I did not say anything to them. Instead I waited to hear you view or what you declared.”

(Ibn Mas’ood) replied, “Would that you had ordered them to count up the evil deeds they acquired and assured them that their good deeds would not be lost!”

Then we went along with him (Ibn Mas’ood) until he came to one of these circles and stood and said,

“What is this which I see you doing?”

They replied, “O Aboo ‘Abdur-Rahmaan! These are pebbles upon which we are counting takbeer, tahleel and tasbeeh.”

He said, “(You should) count your evil deeds and I will assure you that none of your good deeds will be lost. Woe to you, O Ummah of Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)! How quickly you are rushing to your destruction! These are the Companions of your Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and who are widespread (and numerous). There are his clothes which have not yet decayed and his eating utensils which are unbroken. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! Either you are upon a deen better guided than the Deen of Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) or that you are opening the door of misguidance (from this bid’ah).

They said, “O Aboo Abdur-Rahmaan! By Allaah, we only intended good.”

He said, “How many there are who intend good but do not achieve it. Indeed Allaah’s Messenger said to us ‘A people will recite the Qur’aan but it will not pass beyond their throats.’ By Allaah! I do not know, perhaps most of them are from you.” Then he left them.

Umar ibn Salamah (the sub-narrator) said: “We saw most of those people fighting against us on the day of Nahrawaan, along with the Khawaarij.”

From the introduction of ad-Daarimee, volume one, page 73 with an authentic chain.

[2] The scholars differentiate between those innovations which take  a person outside the fold of Islaam (al-Bid’atul-
Mukaffirah) and those which do not. So this is not to be understood unrestrictedly.

Making Ribaa (interest) permissible in the west

Shaykh Ahmed al-Wasaabee warns us of evil callers who make ribaa “halal,” evil callers such as Qaradaawe, Siraaj Wahhaaj

Question to Shaykh Ahmed al-Wasaabee: Some youth try to tell us that ribaa (interest) in the west is permissible. And they attribute this to al-Qaradaawee. So what is the ruling on the one who follows these types of rulings? And other people in the west have made similar statements, such as Siraaj Wahhaaj, and others like him. This is a very common thing, as many youth say that ribaa is permissible in the west because of necessity (i.e. you cannot purchase a house without a mortgage, and if you do not purchase a house, the Muslims will be in a state of weakness!, etc.).

Shaykh Ahmed al-Wasaabee: Allaah (subhaana wa ta’laa) has completed our deen for us. Allaah’s statement:

This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (Al-Ma’idah 5:3)

So our deen is perfect, and it is perfect in every time and every place. So the one who has given the fatwa that working with ribaa, and eating ribaa is allowable in the lands of the west, then he is from amongst the people who are following the footsteps of shaytaan. And it is waajib upon us and the Muslims to enter into al-Islaam fully. And to accept al-Islaam in its entirety, in all of its forms, all of its orders, and all of its prohibitions. Allaah’s statement:

O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). (Al-Baqarah 2:208)

So the ones who issued these fataawa, allowing ribaa in the lands of the west, then they are indeed following in the footsteps of shaytaan. And the deen of al-Islaam must be established and performed in all places, in Yemen, and in Makkah, and in Britain, and in America, and other than them; and the deen is not to be established in certain places and to be left off in other places.

And the ruling of ribaa is clear. Allaah (subhaana wa ta’laa) said: O you who believe! Be afraid of Allaah and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribaa (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers. (Al-Baqarah 2:278)

And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger. (Al-Baqarah 2:279)

    And He (taa’ala) said:

Those who eat Ribaa (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: “Trading is only like Ribaa (usury),” whereas Allaah has permitted trading and forbidden Ribaa (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Ribaa (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allaah (to judge); but whoever returns [to Ribaa (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire – they will abide therein. (Al-Baqarah 2:275)

And the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihiwasallam) said, “Every time a person increases in ribaa, then the end of his issue is to littleness and nothingness.”

And the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihiwasallam) did not make a distinction in these hadeeths, and Allaah (subhaana wa ta’laa) did not make a distinction in these ayaats, regarding times and places. And this is applicable to every time and to every place.

And the ones who change the deen and make it applicable in certain times and certain places, then they are the ones who follow their desires. Allaah’s statement:

Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilaah (god), and Allaah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. (Al-Jathiyah 45:23)

So it is waajib upon the believers to fear Allaah in these issues. Allaah’s statement:

Say (O Muhammad (salallaahu ‘alaihiwasallam) to these polytheists): “Tell me, what provision Allaah has sent down to you! And you have made of it lawful and unlawful.” Say (O Muhammad (salallaahu ‘alaihiwasallam)): “Has Allaah permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allaah?” (Yunus 10:59)

    quote:
And verily, the people who allow ribaa in the west have made a lie upon Allaah (suhbhaana wa ta’laa). And they have no justification for what they say. And the clear verses and the clear commands of Allaah and His Messenger are present. And there is no room for anyone to twist and modify them according to certain times and places. And these fataawa are false and far astray, and they come from the people who are not cautious in their deen.

And my advise is that we do not ask about our deen except from the Ahlul-’Ilm, the people known to be upon the Kitaab and the Sunnah, the Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. And we do not ask about our deen from the Ahlul-Bidaah, such as Yusuf al-Qaradaawee, and others like him. So they are never to be asked about affairs of our deen, and never to be depended upon in their legal opinions. And they are to be warned against.

And Islaam calls the disbelievers to enter into al-Islaam, and calls them to fulfil the orders of Allaah (subhaana wa ta’laa) and to leave off His prohibitions. And from His prohibitions is ar-ribaa.

[And the shaykh warned us about these callers of evil (those who issue rulings making ribaa permissible in the west), and that they should be warned against, and to be stay away from.]

In summary, ribaa is not permissible in the west.

Benefit: It is not permissible to put money in banks that deal with ribaa. However, out of necessity, if a person fears that his money may be stolen, or that it may be robbed, or that it may be taken from him (if he does not place it in a bank); then in this instance, the ‘Ullema, like Shaykh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez ibn Baaz and others have issued fataawa that it is permissible for people to put their money in banks that deal with usury in order to secure their money. This is with the condition that they are not allowed to earn interest on this money. But if this fear is not a reality, then it is not allowed for any Muslim to place his money in banks that deal with ribaa, even if he fulfils the condition that he does not earn interest on his money. For verily, the banks benefit from those who place money in their banks.

      Ten Commandments in the Qur’an

      January 1, 2011 1 comment
Is there anything in the Qur’an similar to the Ten Commandments of the Bible?
The Bible has the famous ‘Ten Commadments.’ What about Islam? Does it have such a code of conduct which overviews some of the beliefs and rights of the reliigion? This short article will help to educate the enquiring mind better about the Qur’an, and perhaps knock down some misplaced notions about the Noble Qur’an and its message.

And follow not (O man, i.e., say not or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, the sight and the heart, each of those one will be questioned (by Allaah). And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height.

      The Ten Commandments?

Question: Is there anything in the Quran that is similar to the Ten Commandments of the Bible?

Answer: All praise is due to Allah, thank you for directing this question to us indicating your interest in the Quran. We would be delighted to provide you with an answer.

There are verses in the Quran that were called the ‘Ten Commandments’ or the ‘ Ten Instructions’ by some scholars due to containing ten great commandments to mankind by Allah. These verses can be found in two places in the Qur’an.

The First: In Surat Al An’aam, Allah says:

(Say (O Muhammad): “Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from:

      1. Join not anything in worship with Him;
      2. be good and dutiful to your parents;
      3. kill not your children because of poverty” – We provide sustenance for you as well as them –
      4. “Come not near Al-Fawahish (great sins and illegal sexual intercourse) whether committed openly or secretly;
      5. and kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law). This He has commanded you with that you may understand.
      6. And come not near to the orphan’s property except to improve it until he or she attains the age of full strength;
      7. and give full measure and full weight with justice” – We burden not any person, but that which they can bear –
      8. “And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned,
      9. and fulfill the Covenant of Allah. This He commands you that you may remember.
      10. And verily, this (i.e. Allah’s Commandments mentioned in the above two Verses) is my straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you from His path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious.)[1]

The second: In Surat Al Israa, it is as if it is an explanation of the previous verses. Allaah said:

      1. And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him.
      2. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor. And lower to them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow upon them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.” Your Lord knows best what is in your inner-selves. If you are righteous, then, verily, He is Ever Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again in obedience, and in repentance.
      3. And give to the kinsman his due and to the Miskeen (needy) and to the wayfarer. But spend not wastefully (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. Verily, the spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayateen (devils), and the Shaytaan (Devil-Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. And if you turn away from them (kindred, needy, wayfarer and have no wealth at the time they ask you) and are awaiting a mercy from your Lord for which you hope, then speak to them a soft, kind word (i.e. Allaah will provide for me and I shall give you). And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty. Truly, your Lord increases the provision for whom He wills and straitens it (for whom He wills). Verily, He is Ever Well-Acquainted, All-Seer of His slaves.
      4. And kill not your children for fear of poverty. We shall provide for them as well as you. Surely, killing them is a great sin.
      5. And come not near to unlawful sex. Verily, it is a Fahishah (i.e. anything that transgresses its limits: a great sin), and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allaah forgives him).
      6. And do not kill anyone whose killing Allaah has forbidden except for a just cause. And whoever is killed wrongfully (intentionally with hostility and oppression and not by mistake), We have given his heir the authority [to demand Qisaas, Law of Equality in punishment – or to forgive, or to take the Diyah (blood money)]. But let him not exceed the limits in the matter of taking life (i.e. he should not kill anyone except the killer). Verily, he is aided (by the Islaamic law).
      7. And come not near to the orphan’s property except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength.
      8. And fulfill (every) covenant. Verily, the covenant will be questioned about.
      9. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight. That is good (advantageous) and better in the end.

All the bad aspects of these (the above mentioned things) are hateful to your Lord.

This is (part) of Al-Hikmah (wisdom, good manners and high character) which your Lord has revealed to you (O Muhammad). And set not up with Allaah any other ilaah (god) lest you should be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected (from Allaah’s Mercy)) [2]

After you closely examine these verses O questioner, we hope you attain a better perception towards the Qur’an, a lot better than what preceded it, a stance that opens a way for you to make fundamental changes in your life, a noble way that enables you to embrace the religion of Islam. We wish you continuous success, and may peace be upon those who follow guidance.

By Allah if Faatima the daughter of Muhammad stole…

      Narrated ‘Aisha (Radi-Allahu ‘anha):

The people of Quraish worried about the lady from Bani Makhzum who had committed theft. They asked, “Who will intercede for her with Allah’s Apostle?” Some said, “No one dare to do so except Usama bin Zaid the beloved one to Allah’s Apostle.”

When Usama spoke about that to Allah’s Apostle (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam), Allah’s Apostle (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, (to him), “Do you try to intercede for somebody in a case connected with Allah’s Prescribed Punishments?” Then he got up and delivered a sermon saying, “What destroyed the nations preceding you, was that if a noble amongst them stole, they would forgive him, and if a poor person amongst them stole, they would inflict Allah’s Legal punishment on him.

By Allah, if Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad stole, I would cut off her hand.”

Helping Sinners Repent or Insulting Them

      November 24, 2010 3 comments

Shaykh Saalih Aal ash-Shaykh explains the admonishment of Aboo ad-Dardaa’ (radiyallaahu anhu)

It has been relayed that Shaykh Saalih Aal ash-Shaykh – may Allaah bless and preserve him – said:

From the sayings of Aboo ad-Dardaa’ – may Allaah be pleased with him – :

Once when Aboo ad-Dardaa’ passed by a man who had committed a sin and the people became aware of it and were insulting him because of it – and Aboo ad-Dardaa’ was so keen and insightful in helping people recovering from their religious ills and reviving sickened hearts – so he said:

Had you found him at the bottom of a well, wouldn’t you be helping him up and out of it?

They said, “Of course!”  So he replied:

Then praise Allaah who has excused you (from his trial), and do not insult your brother!

He said, “Praise Allaah who has excused you (from his trial) and do not insult your brother!”  Look at this parable – that the believers would surely help someone in sin and they would not abandon him like how people would naturally help someone stuck in a well.  Would believers insult someone who is in physical need and say to them, “Why have you gone into this well?  or such-and-such situation?”  No, they would only struggle and try their best to help such a person!

Thus, insulting someone is negativity, and it is not permissible in the Sharee’ah (Islaamic legislation).  Instead, we ask Allaah to guide our brothers and we praise Allaah for excusing us (from what they are being tried with), and then we work to save them from the evil of their sins and disobedience.  They have only sinned due to their giving in to the plots of Iblees, Allaah’s enemy and our enemy.

So this admonition – dear believer – is a great one!  When you see someone who has committed a sin, you must work to help him!

Dear brothers, if we were to think about our times, we would find that many people speak about others’ sins.  They say, “This guy did such-and-such, that one travels and does such-and-such, this family has gone through such-and-such…”  You find them extremely critical and insulting, perhaps even mocking people, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought.  When you ask them what they have done to help your brother stop these sins, they say: Nothing.

As a result, he has actually become one of Shaytaan’s devices (to keep people sinning) as well, since the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said:

Whoever says that the people are destroyed, he is the one who destroyed them.

Meaning: He has become a reason for their destruction.  And the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) forbade use from speaking about everything we hear. He (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said:

Whoever speaks about everything he hears is one of the two liars (or one of the liars).

So we must work hard to fix mistakes, advise sinners and conceal their (hidden) sins, and spread good reports.  When we see someone who has done good, we say, “He has done such-and-such good thing,” since, by behaving this way, we spread good behavior, and the people will follow each other’s good leads.  However, if we were to spread evil, then people would be lenient in their approach to those things and in doing them, saying, “Yea, So-and-So has done this sin, and this guy has done such-and-such, and that guy has done such-and-such!”  People would then be led to assume that there is so much more evil than good, and thus weaken their stance against bad things and begin doing them.

May Allaah be pleased with Aboo Ad-Dardaa’ and reward him well for his dealings with his companions and the Ummah after him!
