Advice to those who are Tried with Watching Porn – Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq ibn ‘Abdul-Muhsin Al-Badr

Advice to those who are Tried with Watching Porn
Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq ibn ‘Abdul-Muhsin Al-Badr

Question:

May Allaah reward you and may Allaah bless you. May Allaah benefit us with that which we have heard; and may Allaah forgive us, you, and all the Muslims. This questioner, O Shaykh, says: I implore you, by Allaah, to ask this question (for me). He says in his question: O, Shaykh, give me advice, for by Allaah, I am upon the brink of the Hellfire. For I have been addicted, O Shaykh, to pornography websites since last year. Every time I repent I return to it again. By Allaah, the thing which I hate the most is these sites, but they overpower me every time and they are the reason for my failure. I used to be very successful in my work and in my studies, however, now I am in a state of loss.

Answer:

Firstly, I say, just as ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allaah be pleased with him, has said: “Supplicate to Allaah the Blessed and High that He turns the heart of your brother; that He guides him and accepts his repentance.” So we ask Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, the Generous, Lord of the Great Throne, that He guide him and accept his repentance; and that He makes us and him firm with the firm statement and that He give us refuge from the evil of our souls and the evil of our actions.

I advise you, O noble brother, with one piece of advice; always be mindful of it, for in it is salvation for you. It is the greatest admonition. Always bear in mind that Allaah, the Lord of all that exists, sees you and that He, Glorified and Exalted be He, is looking at you. If you are alone within the house on any day, then do not say: I am alone; but say: There is a Raqeeb (Watcher i.e. Allaah) over me. When you sit, in this seclusion with this screen on the internet and you begin to enter those sites and you think that no one from the people can see you, then know that the Lord of all that exists is looking at you.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى

Knows he not that Allaah does see (what he does)? (Al-’Alaq 96:14)

In this verse is a rebuke for you; treat yourself with it; rebuke yourself by way of the Qur’aan. There is not harm if you put this verse upon your room in front of you so that you can look at it and it can deter you and rebuke you from that matter, which there is not to be seen nor will you find therein any result that will benefit you. Rather, you have been affected in your studies, in your manners, in your worship, in your performance; there is no beneficial fruit in it. This is what the enemies of the religion desire; when they make the likes of these despicable, licentious, and harmful films; so that the children of the Muslims become lost; and the children of the Muslims become like cattle. Rather, they are even more astray; in the following of desires and urges, deviations and misguidances.

Due to this, have Taqwaa of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, and make yourself constant in turning to Allaah the Glorified and High, and in sincere Tawbah to Allaah the Mighty and Majestic.

This device, I do not say to you to-if this is your state-to utilize it for permissible affairs; rather, I say: REVOVE IT FROM THE HOUSE COMPLETELY. Remove it from the house completely; and it should not remain with you even for a second. Tonight, remove it from your house; because its presence is an apparent corruption for you. It should not remain with you in hopes of benefitting from it in useful ways. Rather, remove it from your house completely and close off this door of evil from yourself and turn to Allaah the Glorified and High.

We ask Allaah to turn your heart and to accept your repentance, and to accept all of our repentance; and to guide us all to the (straight) path; and to rectify for us all of our affairs; indeed He, Blessed and Exalted be He, is the All-Hearing, Ever-Responsive, and Ever-Near.

There is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma ba’d

The Precedence and Priority that obedience to Allaah has over the obedience to the creation

To reinforce the precedence and priority that obedience to Allaah (subhanahu wa ta’aala) has over the obedience to the creation, ponder upon the following ahadeeth of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam):

La ta’aata lil makhluk fi ma’seeyit al-Khaaliq (which means “there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator.”)

“Inna ma ta’aa fil ma’roof.” (Obedience is only in the matters ordained by Allaah).

The righteous scholars have explained that the right of The Creator takes precedence over the rights of the creation.

So when any one from the creation enjoins on you to commit an act of disobedience, then obedience to them in that specific matter is actually disobedience to Allaah, whereas disobedience to them in that specific matter is obedience to Allaah. Allaah (subhanahu wa ta’aala) says: …Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression… (Al-Ma`idah 5:2)

Regarding the parents, Allaah (subhanahu wa ta’aala) says:

And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years. Give thanks to Me and to your parents; unto Me is the final destination. (Luqman 31:14)

A man once asked the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam):

“O Messenger of Allaah, who has the most right amongst people to my good companionship?” He (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied: “Your mother.” The man said: “Then who?” He replied: “Your mother.” The man said: “Then who?” He replied: “Your mother.” The man said: “Then who?” He replied: “Your father.”

[Al-Bukhaaree (no. 5971), Muslim (no. 201) and Ibn Maajah (no. 2706)]

The right of the parents upon their children is so great that Allaah often mentions obedience to parents immediately after worshipping Allaah alone. Yet even if your mother or father enjoins on you to commit an act of disobedience, then obedience to them in that specific matter is actually disobedience to Allaah, whereas disobedience to them in that specific matter is obedience to Allaah. So if your parents command you to worship other than Allaah, or to attend the gatherings of the people of bid’ah (Sufis, Shee’a, Tableeghis, Ikhwanul Muslimeen, Khawarij, Hizb Tahreer, etc…), or to sing anasheed, or to hand them a can of beer or a pack of cigarettes, then there is no obedience to them in these matters.

Allaah says: But if they strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. (Luqman 31:15)

La ta’aata lil makhluk fi ma’seeyit al-Khaaliq (which means “there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator.”)

This also includes the wife in relation to her husband. The husband’s right over his wife is so great that the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said,

“It is not right that any human being should prostrate to another being. And if it were right for a human being to prostrate to another human being, I would have ordered the woman to prostrate to her husband due to the greatness of his right upon her.”

Yet if the husband commands the wife to disobey Allaah, such as the husband’s command to his wife to break her obligatory fast in Ramadan to have sexual relations with him,* or to remove her hijaab, or to engage in haram acts or speech, then in these particular cases obedience to him is disobedience to Allaah, as the scholars have explained.

La ta’aata lil makhluk fi ma’seeyit al-Khaaliq (which means “there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator.”)

If a “scholar” (or imam of your masjid) advises you to disobey Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) by telling you or giving you “permission” to call on other than Allaah, or say that Allaah in His Self is “everywhere,” or rebel/speak ill of the Muslim ruler, or celebrate the Prophet’s birthday, or engage in ribaa (interest, usury), then in these particular cases obedience to that “scholar” is disobedience to Allaah.

Allaah says: They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allaah… (At-Tawbah 9:31)

The Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) explained:

They (rabbis and monks) prohibited the allowed for them (Christians and Jews) and allowed the prohibited, and they (Christians and Jews) obeyed them. This is how they worshipped them.

[Calling on other than Allaah is Kufr, knowingly denying Allaah's 'Uluw is kufr, rebelling against/speaking ill of the Muslim ruler is the bid'ah of the Khawaarij and Ikhwanul Muslimeen and Hizb at-Tahreer, celebrating the Prophet's birthday is bid'ah that sometimes is accompanied by kufr as the 'ulamma have explained, and ribaa is from the seven destructive Kabaair, while declaring ribaa "halal" upon knowledge of its prohibition in the Qur`an and Sunnah is Kufr. Aoodhoobillaah!]

La ta’aata lil makhluk fi ma’seeyit al-Khaaliq (which means “there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator.”)

Likewise, with the Muslim ruler, the only time you may not obey the Muslim ruler is if he orders disobedience. As we learned from Kitab at-Tawheed class – chapter of Ruling by other than Allaah – regarding Allaah’s ayah: O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad, salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority… (An-Nisa 4:59) The word atee’u (obey) precedes “Allaah” and “the Messenger,” but not “those in authority”, because the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) could not order to do haram, whereas it’s possible that a ruler could. So although it is obligatory to obey the Muslim ruler, you may not obey him in that particular matter in which he orders disobedience.

La ta’aata lil makhluk fi ma’seeyit al-Khaaliq (which means “there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator.”)

May Allaah grant us akhlaaq pleasing to Him.

Note: *(as opposed to the optional fast, which scholars have said she should break if he asks)

How do we know what is a major sin? – Shaykh Saalih ibn Muhammad al-Luhaydaan

Q.The individual is asking how do we know what is a major sin?

A. The shaykh said major sins are for example that which Allaah tabaarak ta wa ta’aala, informs us the punishment for whoever performs it will be the hell fire. Likewise that which the Prophet (Sallaahu alayhi wa sallam) informed us that whoever does this action they will be distant from the mercy of Allaah, or whoever does this action will be cursed by Allaah. These are certain things which inform an individual that a sin is a major sin.

You have the hadith where the Prophet (Sallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘abstain from the seven major sins’. However the Prophet Sallaahu alayhi wa sallam did not mean that there are only seven. He sallaahu alayhi wa sallam in that hadith mentioned seven but did not say that they are the only major sins. The proof for that is ibn Abbass (RadiAllaahu anhumma). He was asked are there only seven? He said they are closer to seventy then seven. So there is no specific number of the amount of major sin there are.

Our sins are weighing us down – Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen

Our sins are weighing us down
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen

Allah the Exalted said:

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنْكَ وِزْرَكَ

And We removed from you your burden

(Soorah As Sharh verse 2)

َوَضَعْنَا عَنْكَ

Meaning: We removed, pardoned, forgave, and disregard.

وِزْرَكَ

Your burden

Meaning: your sins

الَّذِي أَنْقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ

Which weighed down your back

Meaning that Allah the Exalted forgave the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم his sins and mistakes to the extent that he was completely forgiven.

The result: Allah the Exalted forgave the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم for his sins and He explained that these sins had been weighing down his back, meaning they had been hard and tiring upon him.

Thus if this was the sins of the Prophet عليه الصلاة والسلام then how about the sins of other than him?!

Our sins weigh down our backs. Our sins are hard upon us and tire us out but it is as though we are not carrying anything, it is as though we are not carrying anything at all; this due to the weakness of our faith, and our lack of insight. We ask Allah to encompass us with His forgiveness.

Some narrations have mentioned that the believer, when he commits a sin it becomes like a mountain hovering over his head.

As for the hypocrite, when he commits a sin it becomes like a fly that landed on his nose thus he swipes at it, meaning it does not concern him.

So the believer is concerned with his sins, thus he attaches importance to his sins until he can free himself from them by way of repentance and seeking forgiveness or by performing noble good deeds that will erase the traces of his sins.

And you; if you find your heart heedless concerning your sins then know that your heart is sick. Because it is not possible for the heart which is alive to be pleased with illness and the illness of the heart is sins.

As Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak, may Allah have mercy upon him said:

I found that sins kill the hearts

And they bring about humiliation by being addicted to them

And abandoning sin gives life to the hearts

And it is better for your soul that you disobey it

At any rate I say, it is obligatory upon us, and I direct this statement to myself and I ask Allah to assist me upon this before I ask Him to assist you. I direct this to myself before I direct it towards you. And I hope for Allah to assist us all.

I say, it is obligatory upon us to be concerned with our souls and to take them to account.

And if the merchant does not go to sleep until he reviews his book of sales; reviewing what he sold, what he spent and what he earned, then surely it is upon the merchant of the next life to be even more concerned because the commerce is greater.

The commerce of the people of this world, what does it benefit them?

Most of the benefits, if it benefits them, will only bring harm to their bodies.

This type of commerce causes a lot of anxiety and stress, if he loses merchandise this causes him stress, and if he is in his country in fear of the highway robbers or the thieves, this causes even more stress.

But the commerce of the next life is the opposite of this.

Oh you who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous torment?

That you believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that you strive (your utmost) in the cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: that will be best for you, if you but knew!

He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which rivers flow

(Soorah As Saff verses 10, 11, and 12)

Safety from the punishment, Allah forgiving him for his sins, and entrance into paradise. Gardens of Eden meaning gardens of eternity.

وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ

Beautiful mansions in gardens of eternity

Mansions which are beautiful in the manner in which they are constructed and beautiful in the material used to construct them.

Do you think the material used to construct the mansions in paradise is cement and gravel? No!

As the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, ‘Two paradises with gold utensils and everything in them is gold. And two paradises with silver utensils and everything in them is silver.

I swear by Allah, if a person were to remain prostrating from the time he reached puberty until he died, this would be a small price to pay for such a great treasure.

Or if there were no other reward other than the person being saved from the fire this would be enough.

Sometimes a person will contemplate and they will say, ‘I wish I was never born’.  Or, ‘It will be sufficient for me if I can be saved from the fire’.

Take for example Umar Ibn Al Khattab رضي الله عنه he said, ‘I wish I could have been an uprooted tree, I wish my mother had never given birth to me.’

This is because the individual is afraid.

He could think that he is safe now, because he prays and fast, gives charity, performs Hajj, and honors his parents and things like this.

But there could be in his heart—and we ask Allah for safety and security—some type of hatred that leads him to an evil end; and refuge is sought with Allah.

As the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا إِلَّا ذِرَاعٌ

Verily one of you will perform the actions of the people of paradise until there does not remain between him and it except for an arms span.

Meaning the time span before his death and it does not mean the span of his actions because all of his actions are in vain.

He, ‘performs the actions of the people of paradise according that what is apparent to the people while (in reality) he is from the people of the fire’; as appears in an authentic narration.

His statement: Until there does not remain between him and it except for an arms span; does not mean that his actions take him close to paradise. No, the meaning is, until he does not remain upon it except for a short period of his life and then he performs the actions of the people of the fire thus he enters it. But this is if the actions of the person were performed for the sake of the people.

As the Messenger of Allah عليه الصلاة والسلام said:

إن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة فيما يبدو للناس وهو من أهل النار

Verily a person will perform the actions of the people of paradise, according to what is apparent to the people while he is from the people of the fire.

If a person comes across this type of text he fears for himself. He fears showing off. He fears being impressed by himself. He fears from being presumptuous over Allah with his actions.

Thus we ask Allah the Blessed and Exalted to protect us and you all from the evil of our actions. Oh Allah we seek refuge in you from the evil of our souls and from the evil of our actions; we seek Your forgiveness and to You we turn in repentance.

Guidelines on Children’s Clothes with Pictures and on Dolls – Sheikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (may Allah have mercy on him)

Guidelines on Children’s Clothes with Pictures and on Dolls
Sheikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (may Allah have mercy on him)
by SalafiEvents.com

Question:

Here, one of the sisters asks: What is the ruling on clothing children with clothes which contains pictures of things which have souls if it is not possible to erase these pictures from them, because by erasing them (the pictures), the garment is spoiled?

So, the Sheikh replied:

Answer:

Without doubt, it has to be said, that for the likes of this question, the purchasing of the garment which is illustrated with pictures, has to have definitely already occurred by mistake or negligence from the father or mother who bought (it), because the fundamental principle is that it is not appropriate for the Muslims that they purchase clothes which have pictures on them. However, a person may be unaware, and he may be negligent, and they may forget…and he may forget and he may purchase a garment, (and) after he returns with it to his house it becomes clear to him that there is a full prohibited picture on it. So, in this situation also, this question (above) is not to be found. It is imperative that another introduction precede it (this question), and it is…the changing of the garment for another garment from the place where it was purchased from, (whereby this new garment) does not have on it a prohibited picture. So if… so if it was not possible for the father or the mother to change it (for another garment), then here in the third stage (of this situation) this question comes about.

So, I remind about these two introductions (which should be placed before the question) because the majority of the people are heedless when they proceed to the markets. They buy everyday necessities (which are made) from different materials, from them which are the likes of those things which are spread out (carpets, rugs, mats etc.) and blankets or what resembles that, those (things) which are predominantly illustrated with pictures and decorated. And they do not pay any attention to them at all (these materials which have pictures) and they buy them with the excuse that these materials are not respected (because they are sat on, slept on etc.) and are not hung up. So, we say: It is imperative upon the Muslims that they be those who are awake (and) not those who are asleep, and that they pay attention to the plot of the disbelievers, those who are invading them in the midst of their own house with diverse ways – and that which is from them (these ways) are these clothes which are illustrated with pictures. And it (this matter) is mentioned bit by bit, specifically if the people are in need of it. And in a manner more specific when they are made heedless through some of the erroneous guidelines, through some of the fataawa (religious edicts) which are not based upon authentic proof, like (the fataawa for) these dolls and children’s toys which cram up the markets and the mothers go and buy for the boys and girls many a thing from these amusements in the name of them (being) toys for children or toys for girls.

So, it is imperative that we remember something here, and it is that the toys (i.e. dolls) which are allowed to be used for the small children… rather I say for girls only and not for the males from the children, that there is not out there any proof for the permissibility (of these toys/dolls) except the hadeeth of ‘Aaishah (may Allah be pleased with her) which says that she used to send for the daughters from the daughters of her neighbours to come to her and she would play with them with girls’ toys and the Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa ‘ala aalihi wa sallam) would help her in that and consent to her (doing that) and he would not rebuke her. Rather, indeed he (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa ‘ala aalihi wa sallam) [entered upon her] one time and saw amongst her toys a horse with two wings. So he (‘alaihi salaam) said to ‘Aaishah, playing about with her: ‘A horse which has two wings?!’ She said: ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, have you not heard’ or ‘has it not reached you that the horse of Sulaymaan (‘alaihi salaam) had wings?’ and he (‘alaihi salaatu wa salaam) laughed and he affirmed her in that. This hadeeth is the proof which makes it possible for us to rely upon it in allowing girl’s toys (i.e. dolls) with images and sculptured forms.

However, there is a principle of fiqh (jurisprudence) out there that every text which comes and carries within its folds a ruling which is an exception from the general proofs, then this ruling is halted at and it is not increased upon because it is against the fundamental principle. And that which was like that, i.e. that which was against the fundamental principle, then an analogy (qiyaas) is not made from that which was irregular to the fundamental principle, (and) because that which was against (an) analogy (being made with it), cannot (then) be used to make (a further) analogy based upon it, and indeed it is but connected (back) to the general principle.

If this meaning is clear to all, inshaa’Allah, then at this time we say: The toys which Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (may Allah be pleased with her) [had], they were from that type which some of the other women engaged in, in diverting the attention of their children away from requesting food and drink in the state of them fasting. And indeed they (the women) used to take for them images from coloured wool, from cotton and give them to those who were fasting from the youngsters, diverting their attention away from requesting food and drink. This type from the images, this type from the toys of the children, it was a local (type of image and toy) and it was a domestic [i.e. in the house] (type of image and toy), and it was not imported from outside the Islamic households, let alone being imported from the lands of disbelief and misguidance which manufacture toys and figures which are in accordance with their tastes, with their habits and their customs, and which do not agree in any way whatsoever with the habits of the Muslims and their customs and the rulings of their share ‘ah. And from that which shows you this, is what you see in these (imported) images, from the (imported) figures (which) sometimes are small (in size) and sometimes are big (in size), until (even) a young girl (who) can just about hold the doll and (yet) it is the same length as her and the same width as her and it has blond hair and clipped (in its hair) from the sides like the male children. And it (the imported doll) has a garment which are shorts i.e. the garment which has no legs to it, and it has the short garment which reveals the thighs (of the dolls). These sculptured forms contain the customs of those disbelievers and their habits and their mannerisms.

So, if we entered these sculptured forms into our houses, then first that (shows) that we are pleased with what they contain (i.e. from the customs, habits and mannerisms of those who made them)…firstly…, and secondly, that we are teaching our children (those) mannerisms and that we are bringing them up since their tender age upon finding pleasant these objects which are mutually contradictory to the Islamic clothing, and in particular that which is related to the men. And due to this, it is imperative upon us to beware of these imported clothes from the lands of disbelief with their [different] types and their (different) forms and their (different) purposes, and from that are the clothes of young children.

So we, with great sorrow, every time we enter a house we find the children of our brothers, those who adhere – according to our claim – to the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet, despite all of that, we find that the children have been dressed in clothes which have pictures on them and lewd pictures. Then, this calamity has spread until we have begun to clothe our youths who have passed the age of responsibility with shirts which have pictures on the back and on the front. And (when) sometimes we pray the Friday prayer, there comes to the Friday prayer, as you know, the one who does not pray except on the day of Friday, and most of his life he spends in play and amusement and despite that he (stills) attends the Friday prayer. So, we see him praying and behind him i.e. on the back of his shirt, there is a picture of a woman with her hair flowing and visible from her is her arm and her neck and the likes of that, and we face this picture (whilst praying).

These strange acts of heedlessness from the Muslims, I think that that which helps in spreading these shameful things and these Islamic violations is the saying that the prohibited images are indeed only but firstly, the three- dimensional images which have a shadow. As for that which is not three- dimensional, then these they claim are permissible and allowed and especially if they were not formed by the hand but were rather but formed with a photo camera or a printer. So, these are from the whisperings of shaytaan which he has thrown amongst humanity in this time and beautified for them (the fact) that there is nothing wrong with them.

So, it is upon the Muslims therefore, to stay away from buying any type from the types of clothes which have these pictures on them due to what we have mentioned earlier.

And in conclusion I say in response to that question (asked above): If the affair revolves around scraping off (the picture from) the garment and wasting the benefit from it and around seeking pleasure from it (the garment) despite its obvious and hidden shortcomings…I say if…., then seeking benefit (from it) is permissible. However, I believe that the believing woman and the one who with her capability is truly the mistress of the house, (should) erase the traces of that picture by scraping (it) off and with embroidery whereby the head is wiped out because the affair is as he (‘alaihi as salaam) said:

‘Indeed, the picture is but the head’.

So, if the head is wiped out, the picture is wiped out, even if some of its traces remain. And with this has the answer been completed inshaa’Allah.

Installing a Satellite Dish to Watch the News – Explained by Shaykh Fawzan

Installing a Satellite Dish to Watch the News
Explained by Shaykh Fawzan

[Watch the Video with English Titles Here]

Question:

O noble Shaykh there are numerous questions surrounding one topic here is one of the questions. What is the ruling on the person who installs a satellite dish in his home just for the news or to listen to Al Jazeera channel?

Shaykh Fawzan:

The news is obtained without a satellite dish, it can be obtained in the newspaper, it can be obtained on the radio, and it can be obtained on Saudi television that which is not on satellite. It is obtained without a satellite dish.

The satellite dish brings about evil upon him and upon others such as his children and his family. Thus its evil is greater than its benefit, if there is any benefit. The evil outweighs it. Thus do not install it in the home due to its pure evil or its preponderant evil.

And the affair is not limited to him, rather it will corrupt his family, all of them, the young and the old, except those whom Allah has mercy upon. And he is responsible for them. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: The head of household is a shepherd and he is responsible for his flock. Who will question him? He will be questioned by Allah the Exalted on the Day of Judgment.

Thus it is not permissible for him to install a satellite dish in his home using the argument of watching the news. The news is obtained by many means that do not contain corruption.

And then, what is the news? Most of it is fraudulent and lies, so what will he benefit from it?

He destroys his home in order to get the news? The news, most of it is lies and most of it is incitement and evil. So he should not destroy his home and corrupt his family for the purpose of this false claim.

And the Al Jazeera channel has a great deal of evil; it contains a great deal of evil and incitement. And they bring people who fumble about in the affairs of the religion and in issues of jurisprudence. And they make impermissible what Allah has made permissible or they make permissible what Allah has made impermissible, in their verdicts. Thus this is a great evil to listen to and watch the Al Jazeera channel. Its evil is wide spread now and everything associated with it is evil, and no one praises it.

Satellite T.V. in the Homes – A stern warning from Shaykh Uthaymeen

Satellite T.V. in the Homes
A stern warning from Shaykh Uthaymeen

Shaykh Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him:

And here there is an issue that I remembered now and I wish to caution against it. And it is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَسْتَرْعِيهِ اللَّهُ رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لِرَعِيَّتِهِ إِلا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ

There is no man to whom Allah has entrusted with the care of people, and he dies while neglecting his flock, except that Allah will forbid Paradise to him.

And this responsibility includes the major vast responsibilities and the minor responsibilities. And it includes the man’s responsibility concerning his family.

And based upon this, whoever dies while he has left behind in his house a satellite dish, then he has died while betraying his responsibility and he will be forbidden paradise as it is mentioned in the hadith.

For this reason we say, any sin that results from this satellite dish that the person installed before his death, verily every sin that results from it after his death then the sin is upon him; even if a long period of time passes by, and the sins are numerous. Thus beware my Muslim brother, beware not to leave behind you that which will be a sin against you in your grave.

And the satellite dish that you have with you it is obligatory to smash it. Because it is not possible for you to utilize it except in a manner which is prohibited. It is not possible to sell it, because if you sold it then you would have imposed upon the buyer using it in disobedience to Allah. And then you would be from those who assist in sin and transgression. And there is no way to repentance from that before death except by smashing this machine; this device that brings about evil and calamities that which is known today to all of the people.

Beware my brother that death should surprise you while you have this filthy device in your home. Beware, beware, for verily you will yield its sin and it shall continue upon you after your death. We ask Allah for safety and security.

Veiled sisters uploading their pictures on the internet – Shaykh Haamid ibn Al Khamis Al Junaibee

Veiled sisters uploading their pictures on the internet
A warning from Shaykh Haamid ibn Al Khamis Al Junaibee
http://mtws.posterous.com

[Watch the Video with English Captions Here]

 Question:

A questioner from France says: As salaamu alaikum, jazakaAllahu khrain O Shaykh. What is your view concerning the woman who places her picture wearing niqab, even though her face is covered, on the internet forums and other places? Keeping in mind, this is a fitna for the young men. May Allah bless you.

Shaykh Haamid ibn Al Khamis Al Junaibee:

You know, I don’t know—Subana Allah—some of the women, what do they want from this? What do they want by uploading these pictures, even those who upload their pictures in which they are wearing niqab, or a woman with her face covered, what does she want from this?

This is not done by someone with insight and wisdom and this is evidence of an ignorant way of thinking. What benefit is gained by uploading a picture of a woman wearing niqab, for example? And the evil is greater if she uploads a picture of herself. It is as though she is saying to them: “Look at me,” whether she is wearing niqab or not; along with the beautification or the eyes and other than that.

I say: My general advice to the women: Fear Allah O women, those who enter the internet forums and internet websites, and the social networking sites such as twitter and the other websites. Fear Allah. Whether addressing the men, or chatting with the men, uploading pictures, and going to great lengths in this matter. This is a great door to evil, the magnitude of it is only known to Allah.

And Allah knows the situation of these affairs based on these forums and websites, from the abundance of evil that occurs from some of the people due to these affairs; whether it is by the private messages, or by connecting through other means, or by sending emails, or other than that from the means that some men use to catch women.

And sometimes it occurs between a man who is religiously committed and a woman who is religiously committed. Fear Allah O daughters of the Muslims!!

By Allah, surely I know specific people, I know specific people, and I do not say this from the standpoint of mentioning stories and tales, but rather from the standpoint of inciting fear and alarm, this is the standpoint I am coming from. A woman and a man fell into fornication. Both of them were students of knowledge, both of them were students of knowledge. I know them specifically. We ask Allah for safety and security.

Thus beware, beware—may Allah bless you—beware beware! The person must stay far away from the doors of evil and he must make an escape from them; fleeing.

Whoever needs to connect with someone, whether it is for marriage, or engagement, the connection should occur from the females, from your family, your relatives, from this method. And do not open this door upon yourself! Because this door is a door of evil, such that if it is open it is not about to close except with great evil. We seek refuge in Allah. We ask Allah for safety and security.

Oppressing Other On The Internet – Shaykh As-Suhaymee

February 20, 2013 Leave a comment

Sheikh Dr. Saalih Suhaimi concerning oppressing others on the net

Abdulilah Lahmami : Taken from my own notes from the fourth lesson of Sharh Akhlaaq al-Ulama by Imam Ajuree explained by Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi during the Madinah Conference, Saudi Arabia 1426/2006

Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi said regarding those who write on the internet and oppress others unjustly:

About twenty eight years ago two groups of students differed with one another. The extremity of the situation resulted in argumentation such that they did not seek the truth but rather only to please their own desires. They accused one another of falling into sins. The matter of disagreement was regarding whether one places his hands on the ground before his knees while going down for prostration in the prayer. They charged one another of lying against the Messenger sallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. They claimed that these ones do no want the Sunnah. They fought each other until they threw chairs at one another.

This is from the deceptions of Iblees and whoever occupies himself with pleasing their desires then they ends up being misguided…

These affairs should be taken back to those firm in knowledge… let us consider Imam Ahmed and Imam Shaf’ee rahimahumaallaah. They differed with regard whether one has to make ablution after eating camel’s meat. Imam Shaf’ee says that if one is upon ablution then eats camel’s meat and prays then their prayer is correct, while Imam Ahmed says one’s prayer is nullified. However, both of these Imams pray behind each other without mentioning this difference…

Beware my brothers from some of the problems present on the internet. To the extent that one of these (troublemakers) tried to ascertain what his brother’s saying meant by given it a meaning other than the intended one, thereby being futile…

Another one has accused his brother of being an evil person and a Rafidi (an extreme group amongst the Shi’ah sect). The youths accusing others of being sinners, innovators and disbelievers. It maybe a result of a misunderstanding.

As the poet said,

And how many speak against a correct statement     And his shortcoming is due to his own wrong understanding

By Allaah, we advised them concerning their argumentation and accusingly ascertaining a false meaning to what others say. This has lead others who are weak in faith to accept it.

May Allaah have mercy on Imam Ibn Baz rahimahullaah, when he advised the callers to Allaah in general, some people said that he was referring to the callers in Madinah specifically and to such and such person. Thus, falsely accusing others. So he rahimahullaah replied, “Those who delve in murky waters are the ones who say I am referring to such and such person…”

Allaah said, “Do not go into that which you have no knowledge, indeed the hearing, the sight, the heart, all of it, he will be questioned about.”

We should keep away from accusingly ascertaining a false meaning to what others say…

…I say this to the students of knowledge, Fear Allaah concerning yourself (raising his voice), Fear Allaah concerning your brothers, Fear Allaah with what you put in your tapes falsely accusing and ascertaining a corrupt meaning to what others say.

Fear Allaah concerning the internet websites that are used for falsely accusing and ascertaining a false meaning to what others say.

Very little shame and much distortion in what your brothers say concerning those things that are not meant. By Allaah you will be questioned, by Allaah on a Day when neither wealth nor children will benefit you except the one who came to Allaah with a pure heart. By Allaah you will be questioned.

Someone wrote in that website, the one whose owners don’t have fear of Allaah in reviling the students of knowledge with different types of insults and they even placed a student of knowledge and scholars to be a reference point for the website but I say this with much sorrow.

I heard this tape from the website of someone, may Allaah forgive him, he specified twenty minutes talking against me with very dangerous slanders and he attributed to me and others what is befitting for hypocrites and disbelievers. He said so and so he has such and such and he followed other than the path of the believers…he fell into hypocrisy and disbelief and he differed from the scholars and he went here and there, by Allaah, if you heard those characteristics then they are not attributed except to the disbelievers and hypocrites. I don’t say this to defend myself, but he was not only specifying me with these slanders, only, but also other students of knowledge and scholars…

I say to him two things:  the first of them being that I will not use against him more than the arrows at night for I will not forget in the last third part of the night the supplication against him and those that aid him, Allaah willing.

Secondly, I say to him: say what you say because in front of Allaah the disputers will gather and those that oppressed others will know which place they will end up in.

I say this, my brothers, for the sake of Allaah such that a Muslim is aware that Allaah is watching him, thus being afraid of Allaah in that which he says and writes. That he is accountable concerning every statement he utters for indeed a man says something without realising where it will reach until he falls into the hellfire a distance of 70 years.

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam while holding his own tongue said to Mu’adh ibn Jabal (may Allaah be pleased with him), “withhold this!” So Mu’adh said, “will we be accountable concerning what we say?” The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “May you be put back in your mothers womb and born again, for the people will be thrown into the hellfire upon their faces or noses on account of what their tongues used to say.”

The great calamity is that this enmity is happening between people who ascribe to this methodology and this one way, except that satan has caused enmity between them. It maybe satan found those who delve into murky waters just as Ibn Baz rahimahullaah said.

If a person makes a mistake, do you take him out of salafiyyah and from the methodology of Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah based upon your own specific opinion. Who is the one to clarify these affairs, they are the scholars who cultivate people to the truth, those who speak truthfully and are just upon it not Bakr or Zayd like us young ones.

So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are (Raising his voice). So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are. So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are.

Fear Allaah concerning your brothers from Ahlu Sunnah, Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Just as our sheikh AbdulMuhsin al ‘Abbad said. I advise myself and you with the fear of Allaah in secret and in open.

Allaah said, “And indeed We have created man, and We know what his own self whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular veins (by Our knowledge). (Remember) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).” [Soorah Qaf: 16-18]

I ask Allaah for myself and you that we gain beneficial knowledge and good, correct actions for He is the One able to decree it and we say the supplication which Jibraeel taught the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam to say:

“O Allaah, the Lord of Jibraeel, Mikaeel and Israfeel, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and Bearer of witness. You are the One who judges between your servants in that which they differ, guide me with truth in those things that there is difference with your permission. Indeed you guide whom you will to the straight path.”

The hadeeth has is Hasan, see Sunan Abi Dawood (767), Sunan Ibn Maajah (1357), Sunan Tirmidhee (3420).

End of translation.

For those who don’t know Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi, then he is in his 70′s a teacher in the Prophet’s mosque and also at The Islamic  University of Madinah and is held in high esteem amongst the scholars of Ahlu Sunnah and the general people. May Allaah protect him. The sheikh is also blind may Allaah grant him paradise for his efforts in calling to Allaah.

The Ruling On Putting Personal Pictures In Social Networks
[like Facebook, Twitter and etc]

[Click Here to Watch The Video with English Subtitles]

Question:

This questioner asks on the ruling of putting personal pictures as a member on websites especially on Facebook and Twitter?

Shaykh ´Ubayd bin ´Abdillâh al-Jâbirî:

I say that the pictures of souls are haram and it is from the kabaa’ir (the major sins).

The Messenger, [salla Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam], said: “The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Judgement will be the image-makers.”

And he, [salla Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam], also stated that the image maker will be presented with an image and it will say ‘Blow a spirit therein, which he will not be able to do’.

And from this we know that it is not permissible to publish pictures (images) of people in Twitter or other networks. When the agency responsible (for the networks) request a picture for a specific matter such as licences (for traffic) and security (passports etc) and other authority bodies that employs a person, then it becomes necessary or in need of. And it cannot exceed further than this.
