Advices regarding Manhaj to the Beginners in Salafiyyah – Shaykh Abu ‘Umar Usaamah al-’Utaybee

Aqeedah, Manhaj and Akhlaaq are all together, and you cannot separate them – Shaykhunaa Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa

Aqeedah, Manhaj and Akhlaaq

From Al-Waalid, Shaykhunaa Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa, hafidhahullahu ta’aalaa.

Aqeedah, Manhaj and Akhlaaq are all together, and you cannot separate them. It is necessary for the Taalibul-Ilm (Student of Islaamic Knowledge) to possess sound Aqeedah (correct Islaamic belief and creed), upon the correct Manhaj (methodology) along with good Akhlaaq and Aadaab (manners and behavior). When the Taalibul-Ilm studies Aqeedah and Manhaj, he must also study Akhlaaq and Aadaab. Fear Allah Oh Tullaabul-Ilm (Students of Islaamic Knowledge), fear Allah Oh Tullaabul-Ilm”.

Tremendous Advice from Shaikh Rabee’ On The Importance of Reviewing Correct ‘Aqeedah & Tawheed, Renewing one’s Eeman, and fearing Shirk and Hypocrisy!

Shaikh Rabee’ bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala) said:

“Look at the Muslim world today; go to Egypt, or go to Sudan, or go to Pakistan, and you will see incredibly dangerous false practices. In this land of Sa’udia Arabia, we have eradicated these elevated and venerated graves connected with false worship – all praise is due to Allaah. However, today many callers make it easy for the people to go to these locations or places of disobedience of Allaah in other countries, while at the same time it is likely that they denounce the emphasis given by others to calling to the worship of Allaah alone.

Oh brother, the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) would from time to time repeatedly call his companions to reaffirm their oath of allegiance to him that they would not associate anything with Allaah in their worship. He had Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, Ibn Mas’ood, ‘Ubaidah Ibn as-Saamit (radiallaahu ‘anhum) and others again make the oath of allegiance to him that they would not associate or join anything else along with the worship of Allaah, as well as that they would establish the prayer, and so forth.

Why would he reaffirm this oath of allegiance with the likes of Abu Bakr and ‘Umar?

Because our correct belief always requires being refreshed, rekindled, and renewed. As this correct belief, it is necessary that we plant it firmly within us as individuals, and among us collectively, and that we be reminded of its place and importance.” …

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:

“And if there is a caller today who correctly warns the people from this false practice of associating others with Allaah (in worship), the people will say, ‘Do you think we are idol worshippers?’ But why would the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) himself reaffirm this oath of allegiance with the likes of Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, that they not associate anything with Allaah in their worship, yet you ‘callers’ do not warn from this practice of joining others with Allaah in worship?!

Ibraheem (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said [in his du'aa to Allaah]:

وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الأَصْنَامَ
“…and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.” (Ibraaheem, ayah 35)

Yes, Ibraaheem – the father of the Prophets – and Khaleel-ur-Rahmaan said:

وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الأَصْنَامَ رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيرا ً مِنَ النَّاسِ فَمَنْ تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّه ُُ مِنِّي وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَإِنَّكَ غَفُور ٌ رَحِيم

“…and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. Oh my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind. But whoso follows me, he verily is of me. And whoso disobeys me – still You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Ibraaheem, ayat 35-36)

He was aware that from among his descendants there would be many Prophets, yet despite this he still feared for them. So how can we consider ourselves safe and secure from this danger?!

Ya Muqqallib al-Qulloob Thabit Qulubuna ‘ala Deenik
(Oh Turner of the hearts, make our hearts steadfast upon Your Religion).

The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) often made this supplication and taught his companions to say this supplication. Yet many of us today, we possess undeserved confidence that we will not fall into associating others with Allaah, nor fall into hypocrisy.

But the companions feared for themselves hypocrisy. Ibn Abee Malaikah (rahimahullaah) said:

“I encountered 30 of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), and all of them feared for themselves being hypocrites.”

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:
“As such, it is necessary that each of us fears falling into hypocrisy, and fears falling into matters of associating others with Allaah in worship, and fears for our hearts swerving away from the truth.

Allaah said:

(They say): “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” (Aali Imran, ayah 8) and the verse:

فَلاَ يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
…None feels secure from the Plan of Allaah except the people who are the losers. (Al-A’raf, ayah 99)

So we have fear for that which might affect the steadfastness and the strength of our Eeman within ourselves.

Therefore, we must make every effort in bringing about the causes for steadfastness, from actions which are obedience to Allaah, from submission and compliance to Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, from seeking forgiveness of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, during the day and night by always humbly seeking from Him and beseeching Him to make us firm upon Islaam, and that Allaah guide at our hands those who want the guidance of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala.”

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:

“As for the danger of lying and hypocrisy, we will offer you some thoughts regarding that. Indeed many of the leading personalities of falsehood and misguidance wore the ‘garments’ of Islaam, and made an outward show of worship and of striving to rectify affairs, as it is not possible for them to attempt to deceive the people except through adorning themselves in these ‘garments’ of Islaam in which they present themselves giving the appearance of righteous Muslims.

So in any case, if he reveals the characteristic of lying – even if he stands the night in prayer and fasts during the day – then that lying is a sign from the signs of hypocrisy. Moreover if he possesses – in addition to this – the characteristics of going against his word and excessiveness in his disputes, then clearly he stands as a pure hypocrite, and from this we seek refuge in Allaah.

Just as the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

The Signs of the hypocrites are three, when he speaks, he lies, when he promises, he breaks his word – or it is said when he gives a trust he is disloyal to it – and when he disputes, he goes to extremes.

So these four characteristics, if he possesses these four, then he is a pure hypocrite. And I say that the first three characteristics are those which are mentioned in the narration of Abu Hurrairah. However, the narration of ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar mentions four characteristics. In any case, if he possesses all of these mentioned characteristics, then he is a pure hypocrite upon pure hypocrisy. And it may be that in regard to specific individuals, it would be restricted to the hypocrisy of deeds or actions, or it may be the full reality of hypocrisy in one’s inward belief which then takes him outside of the boundaries of Islaam.

Previously it has been explained to you that some of the people today consider that the matter of hypocrisy as a reality has ‘ended.’ They suppose that hypocrisy was ‘only’ in the time of the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), but as for the latter ages, then they are ‘free’ from hypocrisy occurring within them. This is clearly from their obvious ignorance and foolishness, and we seek refuge in Allaah from that.

As indeed, the most knowledgeable of people regarding the hypocrites was the companion Hudhaifa ibn al-Yamaan (radiallaahu ‘anhu), and this companion who was the most knowledgeable of the hypocrites said: The hypocrisy today is worse and more evil than the hypocrisy in the time of the Messenger. They said, ‘Why is that?’ He said: Because at that time, the hypocrites strove to conceal their hypocrisy, but as for the people today, they manifest it openly.

So these individuals openly showed their hypocrisy, and spoke about their shameful affair, in their opposition to the Muslims. Specifically in the matter of calling to Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High, the one who fights against the call to the truth, engages in deceptions and fabricates things, then it is not something to be considered unlikely that many from among them are true complete hypocrites. And we ask Allaah for health and well being.”

Explanation of Allaah’s Statement: And they will never cease to differ except upon whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy

Explanation of Allaah’s Statement:
“And they will never cease to differ except upon whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy”

The following is a highly beneficial excerpt from a lesson that student Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul-Waahid (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala) gave during his recent trip to America:

[Listen to mp3 lecture @ AbuKhadeejah – Final Night : Mercy Upon The Salafis and Love between them]

…So Ahlus-Sunnah’s Qawaa`id (principles) and Usool (fundamentals) follow on from the Kitab (Qur`an) and the Sunnah. Ahlul-Bid’ah – the reverse.[1] They invent and then they try to establish proofs from the Kitab and the Sunnah.[2] And this is where (and how) splitting and differing occurs. Of course, it’s going to lead to it, because everyone starts doing that. Then everyone will come with their own religion. And the Deen of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, is one.

So this is what we are upon. So if one returns back to the Kitab and the Sunnah, and the sayings of the Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum), then you will find that Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) forbade splitting.

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, stated:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy…
(Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

So Allaah mentions in this ayah two groups of people: (a) those who differ; and (b) those who are free from differing. Because Allaah said:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ

But they will not cease to differ (disagree) : So there are the Mukhtalifeen, who will never cease to differ, those people who fall into this Ikhtilaaf, those who will never cease to differ.

إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy : So this is the other group.

The great scholar Umar Ibn ‘Abdil-’Azeez (d. 102 H, rahimahullaah Ta’aala), the Mujjadid (The Reviver) and King[3], said:

Allaah created the people of His mercy in order that they do not differ.”

And Abu Muhammad Ibn Hazm Al-Anduloosi (rahimahullaah Ta’aala), from the great Imams of Spain, said:

“So Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, excluded those upon whom He bestowed His mercy from being those who differ. And He has (protected) those under His mercy from being those who differ.”

So those who are deserving of the mercy of Allaah, do they differ? [No,] they don’t differ.

Likewise, Imam Ash-Shatibee (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) mentioned in his book Al-I’tisaam:

This ayah necessitates that the people of ikhtilaff mentioned are distinct from those whom Allaah has bestowed His mercy, due to the statement of Allaah:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy… (Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

This ayah shows that the people are of two types:

(a) Ahlul-Ikhtilaf (the people of differing); and
(b) those whom have been bestowed by Allaah’s mercy.

And what is apparent from this categorization is that the people of mercy are not from the people of differing.”

So the Ummah is of two types: (a) Ahlul-Ikhtilaaf (those who differ), and therefore they are devoid of Allaah’s mercy; and (b) Ahlur-Rahma (the people of the mercy of Allaah), those who do not differ.

Ibnu Wahhab (rahimahullah Ta’aala) said: “I heard (Imam) Malik saying:

‘Those whom Allaah shows His mercy to, they do not differ.’”

They do not differ. This is why Ahlus-Sunnati wal-Jama’ah put so much emphasis upon the fact that we do not differ – we are united. Our ‘aqeedah is one, our Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is one, the Sunnah is one. The Manhaj is one. The way of the sahaaba is one. Do we not keep re-iterating this?

Why? Because we want the people to know: Ahlus-Sunnah are united, Ahlus-Sunnah are Ahlur-Rahma, and we are not from those who are Mukhtalifeen (those who differ). We do not like to be from those who differ.

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said: “Allaah said:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy. And for that did He create them… (Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

So Allaah has informed us that the people of mercy do not differ. And the people of mercy follow the followers of the Prophets in their speech and action, and they are the people of the Qur`an and Hadeeth from this Ummah. And whoever differs from them in anything, then he distances himself, and he leaves the mercy of Allaah to the extent that he differs from them.”

So after mentioning that Allaah has divided the people into two types: (a) the people who differ; and (b) the people of mercy (Ahlus-Sunnah, Ahlul-Hadeeth, Ahlul Qur`an wal-Hadeeth), then Ibn Taymiyyah said: whomsoever differs with them. He didn’t say, ‘whomsoever differs with it.’ Ibnu Taymeeyah didn’t say that. He said: whoever differs with them. With who? With them. With Ahlul-Hadeeth, Ahlul Qur`an wal-Hadeeth, Ahlus-Sunnati wal-Jama’ah.

Whoever differs with them – in anything – he leaves the mercy of Allaah to the extent that he differs with them. So the more you differ with Ahlus-Sunnah, Ahlul-Hadeeth, the Salafiyeen, the more you leave the mercy of Allaah.

That’s an amazing Fahm (understanding) of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah.

And whoever opposes (Ahlus-Sunnah, the Salafees) in the affair of ‘Aqeedah, if they oppose them in the affair of Manhaj, if they oppose them in their following of the Sahaaba, the more they oppose them, the more (they are distanced) Read more…

The Creed of the Two Raazee Imaams – Aboo Zur’ah (d. 264 H.) and Aboo Haatim (d. 277 H.)

The Creed of the Two Raazee Imaams:
Aboo Zur’ah (d. 264 H.) and Aboo Haatim (d. 277 H.)

This is the creed of the two Raazee Imaams: Aboo Zur’ah (d. 264 H.) and Aboo Haatim (d. 277 H.) may Allaah have mercy upon them both; transmitted by Imaam Ibn Aboo Haatim Ar-Raazee (d. 327 H.) may Allaah have mercy upon him.

Text of the ‘Aqeedah: ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Aboo Haatim said: “I asked my father and Aboo Zur’ah about the schools of Ahlus-Sunnah in the foundations of the religion and that which they found the scholars in every region to be upon and what they held from that? They said:

“We have reached the scholars in all the various regions; the Arabian Peninsula, ‘Iraaq, Egypt, Shaam, and Yemen. From their way is that:

  1. Eemaan is statement and action; it increases and decreases.
  2. The Qur’aan is the Speech of Allaah; it is not created in any way.
  3. The Divine Decree, its good and its evil, is from Allaah the Mighty and Majestic.
  4. The best of this Ummah after its Prophet is Aboo Bakr As-Siddeeq, then ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, then ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan, then ‘Alee ibn Abee Taalib; may Allaah be pleased with them. They are the rightly guided Khulafaa’.
  5. And that the ten who Allaah’s Messenger named and bore witness for them with (entering) Paradise; we bear witness to what he bore witness to, and his statement is the truth.
  6. Beseeching for mercy upon all of the Companions of Muhammad .
  7. Being silent concerning what occurred between them.
  8. That Allaah the Mighty and Majestic is above His Throne, distinct from His creation; just as He has described Himself in His Book and upon the tongue of His Messenger without asking how. He has encompassed all things with His Knowledge: “There is nothing similar to Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.” (Ash-Shoorah 42:11)
  9. That Allaah, the Blessed and Exalted, will be seen in the Hereafter. The people of Paradise will see Him with their eyes and they will hear His Speech how He wills and in a manner he wills.
  10. Paradise and the Fire are true. They are created and they will never perish. Paradise is the reward for His friends and the Fire is the punishment for the people of disobedience; except he whom Allaah shows mercy.
  11. The bridge is true.
  12. The scale which has two hands; upon it the actions of the slaves are weighed, the good of them and the evil of them, is true.
  13. The Pool with which our Prophet has been honored is true.
  14. The Intercession is true.
  15. That the people from Ahlut-Tawheed (the true Monotheists) will exit the fire due to the intercession is true.
  16. The Punishment of the grave is true.
  17. Munkar and Nakir are true.
  18. The Noble Scribe angels are true.
  19. The resurrection after death is true.
  20. The people who commit major sins are under the will of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic.
  21. We do not excommunicate the people of the Qiblah (i.e. Muslims) due to their sins; and we entrust their secret affairs to Allaah the Mighty and Majestic.
  22. We maintain the obligation of Jihaad and the Hajj along with the leaders of the Muslims in every era and time. We do not see (the permissibility) of rebellion against the leaders, nor fighting in times of Fitnah. We hear and obey he who Allaah has placed in charge of our affair and we do not remove the hand from obedience (to the ruler). That Jihaad is ongoing since Allaah sent His Prophet up until the establishment of the hour with those who are in charge of the affairs from the leaders of the Muslims; nothing nullifies it. Likewise is the Hajj, payment of the charity from the livestock to those in charge of the affair from the leaders of the Muslims.
  23. We follow the Sunnah and the Jamaa’ah and we avoid deviating, splitting, and differing.
  24. The people are believers with regard to their rulings and inheritances; one does not know their state with Allaah. So whoever says that he is a believer in truth, then he is an innovator. Whoever says that he is a believer in the sight of Allaah then he is from the liars. Whoever says: “I am a believer in Allaah.” The he is correct.
  25. The Murji’ah are deviant innovators.
  26. The Qadariyyah are astray.
  27. The Jahmiyyah are disbelievers.
  28. As for the Raafidhah, they have rejected Al-Islaam.
  29. The Khawaarij are deviants.
  30. Whoever claims that the Qur’aan is created then he is a disbeliever in Allaah the magnificent, with a disbelief that takes his outside the fold of the religion. Whoever doubts in his disbelief from those who understand (the affair) then he is (likewise) a disbeliever.”

I heard my father saying: “The sign of the people of innovations is revilement of the people of narrations.”

Aboo Haatim said: “The sign of the people heretics is that they call Ahlus-Sunnah: Hashawiyyah (the worthless ones); they wish to falsify the narrations. The sign of the Jahmiyyah is that they call Ahlus-Sunnah: Mushabbihah (those who liken Allaah to his creation). The sign of the Qadariyyah is their calling Ahlus-Sunnah: Mujabbirah (those who say man is compelled to act and has no free will). The sign of the Murjiah is their calling Ahlus-Sunnah opposers and reductionists (people who say that Eemaan decreases). The sign of the Raafidhah is their calling Ahlus-Sunnah: Naasibah (people who hate the household of the Prophet . No name befits Ahlus-Sunnah except one name and it is impossible that (all of) these names can bring them together.”

I heard my father and Aboo Zur’ah commanding with Hijrah from the people of deviation and innovations and being very harsh in that; and repudiating compiling books of opinions in place of narrations.

We ask Allaah the magnificent to benefit us and the rest of the Muslims with it. And may abundant prayers and peace of Allaah be upon His Prophet, his companions and those who follow him until the day of Recompense.

Proofs, Virtues, Fruits for Al-Walaa` wal-Baraa`
(Loving and Hating for Allaah’s Sake)

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

Love For Allaah’s sake Leads to The Sweetness of Eeman

On the authority of Abu Hurrairah: The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever would like to taste the sweetness of Eeman, then let him love a person – not loving him except for Allaah’s sake. [Ahmad (2/298), al-Haakim (1/3 and 4/168); Isnaad is 'hasan']

The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: There are three characteristics that if a person has them, he will taste the sweetness of Eeman: that Allaah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else; to love another only for the sake of Allaah; and that he hates to convert to disbelief after Allaah has rescued him from it as he hates to be thrown into the fire. [Bukhaaree, Muslim] In another version, the above-mentioned hadeeth begins with the words: No one will find the sweetness of Eeman until and unless…

Loving and Hating For Allaah’s Sake is The Strongest Handhold of Eeman

On the authority of al-Baraa ibn ‘Aazib (radiallaahu ‘anhu): The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: Awthaq ‘Ural Eeman Al-Hubu fillaah wal-bughdu fillaah (The strongest handhold of Eeman is loving for Allaah’s sake, and hating for Allaah’s sake). [Ahmad (4/286), Ibn Abee Shaybah (no. 110); hasan due to supporting narrations]

Shaikh ‘Abdul-’Aziz ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah), in his work The Authentic Creed And The Invalidators of Islaam, said: “Belief in Allaah also necessitates love for His sake, hate for His sake, and making friends and enemies for His sake…”

Loving and Hating is for Allaah’s Sake Leads to Allaah’s Friendship

Ibn ‘Abbaas (radiallaahu ‘anhumma) said: “Whoever loves for the sake of Allaah, and hates for the sake of Allaah, and befriends for the sake of Allaah, and shows enmity for the sake of Allaah, would get Walayatullaah (Allaah’s friendship). Without abiding by this, no one can get the real taste (sweetness) of Eeman though he may have been a frequent offerer of prayer (salat) and fasts. Today, people keep relationship and love only for some wordly reason, but this will not provide them any benefit (on the Day of Judgement).” [Ibn Jarir]

After bringing this hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas in The Chapter “Love for Allaah” in the classical work Kitab at-Tawheed, the author Shaikhul-Islaam Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhab (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) mentioned among the issues/benefits of the chapter: Read more…

Tips for Remaining Firm Upon the Manhaj – Umar Bryant (rahimahullaah)

The Path to Salafiyyah – Part I
Tips for Remaining Firm Upon the Manhaj
[1]
Compiled by Umar Bryant {May Allah have mercy upon him}

Verily, all praise is due to Allaah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we ask Him for His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allaah from the evils of our selves and the evils of our actions. Whomsoever Allaah guides, there is no one that can lead him astray. And whomsoever is led astray, there is no guide for him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship in truth except Allaah. He stands alone and without any partners. And I bear witness that Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is His slave and Messenger.

O you who believe! Fear Allaah as He ought to be feared and do not die except while you are Muslims.[2]

O you who believe! Fear your Lord who created you from a single person (Aadam), and from him, He created his wife, and from them He created many men and women. Fear Allaah through whom you demand your mutual rights and (do not cut off the relations of) the wombs. Surely, Allaah is ever an All Watcher over you.[3]

O you who believe! Fear Allaah and be truthful and precise in your speech. He will rectify your deeds for you and forgive you of your sins. And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger, then he has achieved a great success.”[4]

To Proceed:

The following are aids in keeping the Salafee firm upon this noble manhaj.

We ask  Allaah to grant us and you success!

  1. Thank and praise Allaah for this great gift of being guided to pure Islaam.  Indeed it is a great blessing in which Allaah grants to whom He wills from his servants, hence, it is befitting that you turn to The Most Merciful with the utmost gratitude and thanks.
  1. Constantly ask Allaah for success, guidance, and firmness upon the path for indeed you being guided to it does not guarantee you will remain upon it.
  1. Seek assistance with Allaah, humble yourself before Him and call upon Him with sincerity and humility as if you are in need of being guided to the straight path.  Ask Him to make you firm upon it.  From the great  supplications in this regard is one of the opening du’a of the prayer.

Oh Allaah, Lord of Jibra’eel, Mika’eel, and Israfeel, Creator of the heavens and the earth, knower of the seen and unseen.  You are the arbitrator between your slaves in that which they have disputed.  Guide me to the truth by your leave in that which has been differed upon from the truth for verily You guide whom you will to a straight path

[ From AbdurRahman.Org : Adding transliteration of above Du'a

Allâhumma, rabba Jibrâ'îla, wa Mîkâ'îla, wa Isrâfîla ! Fâtira s-samâwâti wa-l-ardi, âlima l-ghaybi wa sh-shahâdati, anta tahkumu bayna ibâdika fîmâ kânû fîhi yakhtalifûna. Ihdinî li-mâ khtulifa fîhi mina-l-haqqi bi-idhnika. Innaka tahdî man tashâ'u ilâ sirâtîn mustaqîm. ]

After this, seek out the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  Guard it, reflect upon it, and stick firm to it.

  1. Connect yourself with the ‘Ulamaa known for their upright manhaj and creed.  Those who speak the truth and are just with it.  Those who are known by those far from him and close to him for being firm upon the Salafee manhaj. Stick firm to their books and tapes.  Be adamant about attending their sittings and lectures.  Be adamant about calling them each time a matter arises or you have a question.
  1. Leave alone the frauds and self proclaimed “scholars” and “du’aat”, those known for being in opposition to the Salafee manhaj.  The manhaj is free of them and their da’wah.  They are known for creating fitnah, getting the people excited, their strong desire to be seen as people of knowledge, while associating with the people of innovation.
  1. Be steadfast in seeking knowledge.  Start by learning the correct creed and becoming well versed in it.  Get a hold of the books of Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyah and his student Ibn Qayyim, likewise the books of the great reviver Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab – may Allaah have mercy upon them all.  Be steadfast in reading these books with a known Salafee Shaykh.  Likewise be steadfast in studying the books of the Salaf which clarify their creed and manhaj as it relates to those who oppose the manhaj of the Salaf.  Books such as As-Sunnah by Ibn Abee Aasim, As-Sunnah by Khalaal, As-Sunnah by Abdullaah ibn Ahmed, Sharhus Sunnah by Barbahaaree, Al-‘Itisaam by Imaam Ash-Shaatibee, Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah Al-Ukbari, Sharh Usool ‘Itiqaad Ahlis Sunnah wal Jama’ah of Laalikaa’I – may Allaah have mercy upon all of them.[5]
  1. Free yourself of everything that is related to Hizbiyyah and the Hizbees, such as their books, their tapes, their nasheeds, and their shows in which no permission from Allaah for them has been granted.
  1. Do not allow your heart to be a sponge sucking up shubuhaat (doubts) and accepting them.
  1. It is sufficient for you in this life to stick with the Salafee ‘Ulamaa, keep the ties between your parents, and aid your family.  It is also sufficient for you to be around good Salafee companions.  If you want to call to Allaah then sufficient for you are the books and tapes of the known Salafee scholars.  Beware of proceeding before your maturity.  Prepare for yourself a Salafee library consisting of the books of Salafee tafseer, books of hadeeth, and books of aqeedah.  Stay far away from the books of “intellectual” thinkers such as the books of Sayyid Qutb his brother Muhammad and other then them from the known people who have deviated in their manhaj.
  1. Stay away from suspect individuals.  Those known to speak against leaders of the Muslims, those who claim to dispel evil and those who claim to be aiding “the jihad”.  The majority of these individuals and their allegation of enjoining good, is nothing more than hizbiyyah and not upon the Sharee’ah.  Their Jihaad is that of the Haroorees[6] and not that of the Sunnee.

So for example, you will see some of them making takfeer upon the Raafidhah and saying “The ruler should stand up and remove these people from the land or he should annihilate them”  We shall say to him “What is your opinion of the one who insults the companions such as Sayyid Qutb?  If you see him pause, hesitate, or stammer in his speech then know his statement about the Raafidhah was only a political hizbee one.

If you see one say “The muslims are being slaughtered while the muslim governments do nothing”  We shall ask him, “What have you done to aid the muslims by way of correcting his aqeedah and manhaj?  If he frowns and continues upon such speech then know his statement was a political and hizbee one.

  1. Do not enter into debates with the Hizbees.  Ask Allaah to guide them.  Beware of visiting and sitting in the gatherings of the Hizbees as you know what they are upon from misguidance.

The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) informs us in a hadeeth narrated on the authority of Aboo Hurayrah (radi Allaahu ‘anhu);

There shall be people in the latter part of my Ummah who will speak to you concerning things you nor your fathers have heard so beware of them[7]

The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) also informed us that when one hears of the Dajjaal then we are to stay far away from him.

Ibn Abbass said:

Do no sit with the people of desires for verily in their sitting is a sickness for the heart

  1. There are many important books, publications, and tapes in which the Hizbees hide because in them their figureheads are exposed.  Try to attain them from the known Salafee brothers or from known Salafee organizations[8].
  1. Stay away from politics[9] and busy yourself with seeking knowledge[10]
  1. Be open in your affiliation to the blessed Salafee manhaj.  Do not be ashamed to call yourself SALAFEE.  And if one says your are praising yourself.  Tell him this is from informing the people of your affiliation and not from praising oneself and furthermore if this were the case, then everyone who refers to himself as Muslim or Sunnee is also praising himself.Memorize the statement of Shaykhul Islaam Ibnu Taymiyyah:

There is no criticism for the one who proclaims the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf, who attaches himself to it and refers to it. Rather, it is obligatory to accept that from him by unanimous agreement (Ittifaaq) because the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf is nothing but the Truth (Haqq).[11]

  1. Beware of falling into tamyee’ [12] and associating with its people!   Beware of the many tricks and hidden attacks of those who have been afflicted with this sickness.  From their tricky statements are:

“Those brothers are harsh”
“Their focus is only refuting the people”
“They blindly follow “their” scholars (Shaykh Rabee)”

  1. Beware! Beware of looking into the books of the people of innovation and those who defend and protect the people of innovation and listening to their tapes for verily within them is a deadly poison.

Ibnu Quddamah (rahimahullaah) said:

“And from the Sunnah is to boycott the people of innovation, exposing them, leaving off arguing and debating with them in the religion, leaving off looking into the books of the innovators, and lending ones ear to their speech.   And every newly invented matter in the religion is an innovation”

And if you want to study with anyone then be sure of his methodology.  Return his affair to the scholars of Jarh and Ta’deel from our Salafee Mashaayikh.  If they caution you from him then flee from this leper as if you were fleeing from a lion.

When you are cautioned from an individual by the scholars and those known for their firmness in this area then do not fall into a common misconception amongst many and that is the statement “I will wait until I see this matter with my own eyes” or “I have not seen what they say about him” and other similar statements signifying ones ignorance of this manhaj.  Do not be bold and arrogant.

  1. Call the common people (from the Muslims) to the methodology of the Salaf with insight and good exhortations.  You must use kindness and wisdom with them as the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Verily kindness is not added to an affair except that it beautifies it and it is not taken from an affair except that it disgraces it”[13]
  1. Be humble in the face of sincere advice.  Take the advice of our blessed elders in knowledge and virtue when they advise you.
  1. Be abundantly aware of those who oppose the manhaj of the Salaf and know that they have characteristics that you must know.

And all praise is due to Allaah and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad.

[12] Tamyee’ literally means to water down or liquefy.  As it relates to manhaj, then it is the act of watering down and changing firmly established principles in an effort to defend the people of desire

With regard to tamyee’ Shaykh Rabee’ was asked:

Questioner:

Our Shaykh (hafidhakumullaah), we hear a lot from your excellence the usage [of the term] “at-tamayyu`”, we hope (i.e. seek) an explanation of this usage from you, and what is your view regarding the one who rejects this [terminological] usage.

Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee:

This is not [terminological] usage, this is a temporary word (i.e. a passing remark upon a particular trait) that is said, but what is desired by it is a [group of] peoples who came to the `usool of Islaam, melting them, softening them, and belittling their importance, rather, they wage war against them , may Allaah bless you.

And they describe – meaning [describe] the Salafee manhaj, and standing (firmly) in the face of Ahl ul-Bida`, and defending the Sunnah – they describe it as shiddah (harshness), they describe that as shiddah, and they describe that as ghuluww (extremism), and they lied and fabricated a lie.

By Allaah, besides whom there is none worthy of worship (in truth),  shiddah (harshness, severity) is not found amongst the masaakeen Salafees now. And certainly, no matter how harsh the Salafees are in facing and standing against the falsehood, and innovations, they do not reach one hundredth of what the Salaf were upon of harshness against Ahl ul-Bida` to the degree that they (the Salaf) used to kill them, and expel them (from the land), and boycott them, and beat them, and humiliate them. [And as for us] the Salafees, they have nothing [of what was with the Salaf of harshness], masaakeen.”

If You Want to be from the People of The Sunnah – Shaykh, Dr. Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhaab al-‘Aqeel

As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum,

Bismillah,

All praise is due to Allah, and may exaltation and safety be granted to Muhammad, his family, his companions, and those who aid them. To proceed:

The people of the Sunnah (1) have foundations and a methodology that they have adhered to since the earliest times of Islam, and these principles and methodology are what distinguish them from others.

The noble Shaykh, Dr. Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhaab al-‘Aqeel (2), may Allah preserve him, presented a summarized version of these foundations and methodology in five principles (3). This was done during a recorded explanation of Ibn Abee Dawood’s [d. 316 AH] well-known poem on creed, “al-Haa’iyyah.”

Before the reader are my own personal shorthand notes from that portion of the lecture. I ask Allah, the Most High, to make this effort solely for Him, and to make it a source for understanding the creed (4) and methodology (5) of the People of the Sunnah.

Principle #1: Understanding the Qur’aan and Sunnah by their apparent meanings, especially in issues related to creed.

Connected to the topic [of understanding creed] are a few points: not separating the Qur’aan from the Sunnah, giving the upmost importance to the Sunnah, and accepting and implementing all authentically reported hadeeth related to ‘aqeedah, whether they be widely-narrated (6) or not (7).

Question: What represents an apparent meaning?Anyone who claims that he is carrying a text upon its apparent meaning must be scrutinized by what follows:

  1. That the [claimed] apparent meaning is in accordance with other verses of the Qur’aan and wordings of the Sunnah;
  2. That the [claimed] apparent meaning is in agreement with the understanding of the pious predecessors: the Companions and those upon their way;
  3. That the [claimed] apparent meaning is in agreement with Arabic language;
  4. That the [claimed] apparent meaning is in agreement with sound natural disposition

Principle #2: Giving upmost importance to narrations of the pious predecessors: the Companions and those upon their way, and giving their understandings precedence over ours. This is something that distinguishes the People of the Sunnah

Principle #3: Guarding our intellects from that which it cannot fathom in affairs of creed, especially affairs of the unseen

Allah, the Most High, said: “Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he prohibits you from, stay away from it.” [Soorah al-Hashr (59): 7]

The mind has a limit and boundary, just as the eyes do.

Principle #4: Abandoning sitting with the people of innovation, abandoning reading their books, and not debating with them – also, from the angle of current affairs, abandoning visiting their websites and watching their channels.

This (point #4) is a foundation of the People of the Sunnah, and it represents loving and hating for the sake of Allah.

The People of the Sunnah stay away from the people of innovation for the following reasons:

  • Due to their harm to the Muslims, and if the People of the Sunnah were to mix with them, the general population would not know who to follow, and they would not know who is correct from who is incorrect, mixing with them gives the false-notion that everyone is equal;
  • A representation of Islamic allegiance and Islamic disownment;
  • Protecting one’s self from the disease of doubts that the people of innovation spread;
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah exalt his mention and grant him safety, said:
Flee from the leper as you would flee from a lion.” [al-Bukhaaree]
  • As a punishment for them for leaving off the Sunnah;
  • As a cure for them, so they don’t think that their behavior is correct

Principle #5: The people of the Sunnah show love for all of the Muslims, and they strive to bring them together upon the truth (8).  We must add this last part: upon the truth. Allah, the Most High, says: “Indeed, the Believers are brothers.” [Soorah al-Hujaraat (49): 9] (9)

I ask Allah to make me and you from those who bring the Sunnah to life and from those who cause innovation to die.

I also ask Him, from His favor and generosity, to make us from those who strengthen the hearts of the people of truth, and from those who deflate the souls of the people of desires. (10)

The Reality of Revolution in Light of The Qur`aan and Sunnah – by Shaykh ‘Adil Sayyid

June 11, 2012 1 comment

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

Beginning with Tunisia then Libya, Egypt, Yemen and now Syria, the Muslim lands have become riddled with the fitnah of revolution – an adopted method of change that has never been part of Islaam.

This disease has entered the hearts and minds of Muslims who have resorted to demonstrations, protests and revolting against the Muslim ruler – all of which are haram (impermissible), according to the pristine sharee’ah (the final and preserved Islaamic legislation revealed from above the heavens by One Who is All-Wise and All-Knowing). Many have been deceived into change through these hectic and democratic methods.[1]

This sickness of revolution, which was innovated by the early deviant groups such as the Khawaarij, has now sadly become the accepted way amongst ignorant Muslims – and undoubtedly this benefits none but the enemies of Islaam. May Allaah rectify the Muslim lands from this disease, and return us all back to the Qur`aan and Sunnah upon the understanding of the righteous predecessors (the Prophet, salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and his companions, radiallaahu ‘anhum).

Shaykh ‘Adil Sayyid (hafidhahullaah), who is in the middle of this calamity in Egypt and who has defended the position of Ahlus-Sunnah, clarified this very important issue on the 20th of Jamada ath-Thaani, 1433, corresponding to 5-9-12.

Our Call is to Correct What People Have Corrupted, by Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said: “Those who establish the duty of preserving what was inherited from the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) – and safeguard it from any addition or deletion – are from the greatest of the awliyya` of Allaah; they are of the beloved servants of Allaah and His party.

Imam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said: “Whoever proceeds upon the Straight Path that the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his companions were upon, let him make himself get used to trouble from the ignoramuses and Ahlul-Bid’ah, such as them belittling him, attacking him, warning against him.
