Public petitions are not naseehah, nor are they from the way the Salaf would seek change in a society.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
The following is some advice from our brother Abul-‘Abbaas Moosaa Richardson(حفظه الله تعالى) to all those people who wish to bring about change within Muslim authorities by organizing public petitions.
The original advice that was sent out has been slightly modified at the request of Moosaa after I sought permission from our brother to post it out on the Salafi mailing lists:
… Public petitions are not naseehah, nor are they from the way the Salaf would seek change in a society.
It is something from the non-Muslim Westerners, part of their democratic system of politics, adopted and promoted by the Ikhwan Sect and others.
People concerned with following the way of the Salaf must shun such behavior. Islam has its prescribed way of advising the Muslim authorities in private, direct advice that benefits and brings change, yet it does not lead to fitnah in the society. Why replace this with the methodologies of non-Muslims?
And Allaah knows best.
