Explanation of Allaah’s Statement: And they will never cease to differ except upon whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy

September 30, 2012

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah

Explanation of Allaah’s Statement:
“And they will never cease to differ except upon whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy”

The following is a highly beneficial excerpt from a lesson that student Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul-Waahid (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala) gave during his recent trip to America: [ AbuKhadeejah – Final Night : Mercy Upon The Salafis and Love between them]

…So Ahlus-Sunnah’s Qawaa`id (principles) and Usool (fundamentals) follow on from the Kitab (Qur`an) and the Sunnah. Ahlul-Bid’ah – the reverse.[1] They invent and then they try to establish proofs from the Kitab and the Sunnah.[2] And this is where (and how) splitting and differing occurs. Of course, it’s going to lead to it, because everyone starts doing that. Then everyone will come with their own religion. And the Deen of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, is one.

So this is what we are upon. So if one returns back to the Kitab and the Sunnah, and the sayings of the Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum), then you will find that Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) forbade splitting.

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, stated:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy…
(Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

So Allaah mentions in this ayah two groups of people: (a) those who differ; and (b) those who are free from differing. Because Allaah said:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ

But they will not cease to differ (disagree) : So there are the Mukhtalifeen, who will never cease to differ, those people who fall into this Ikhtilaaf, those who will never cease to differ.

إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy : So this is the other group.

The great scholar Umar Ibn ‘Abdil-‘Azeez (d. 102 H, rahimahullaah Ta’aala), the Mujjadid (The Reviver) and King[3], said:

Allaah created the people of His mercy in order that they do not differ.”

And Abu Muhammad Ibn Hazm Al-Anduloosi (rahimahullaah Ta’aala), from the great Imams of Spain, said:

“So Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, excluded those upon whom He bestowed His mercy from being those who differ. And He has (protected) those under His mercy from being those who differ.”

So those who are deserving of the mercy of Allaah, do they differ? [No,] they don’t differ.

Likewise, Imam Ash-Shatibee (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) mentioned in his book Al-I’tisaam:

This ayah necessitates that the people of ikhtilaff mentioned are distinct from those whom Allaah has bestowed His mercy, due to the statement of Allaah:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy… (Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

This ayah shows that the people are of two types:

(a) Ahlul-Ikhtilaf (the people of differing); and
(b) those whom have been bestowed by Allaah’s mercy.

And what is apparent from this categorization is that the people of mercy are not from the people of differing.”

So the Ummah is of two types: (a) Ahlul-Ikhtilaaf (those who differ), and therefore they are devoid of Allaah’s mercy; and (b) Ahlur-Rahma (the people of the mercy of Allaah), those who do not differ.

Ibnu Wahhab (rahimahullah Ta’aala) said: “I heard (Imam) Malik saying:

‘Those whom Allaah shows His mercy to, they do not differ.'”

They do not differ. This is why Ahlus-Sunnati wal-Jama’ah put so much emphasis upon the fact that we do not differ – we are united. Our ‘aqeedah is one, our Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is one, the Sunnah is one. The Manhaj is one. The way of the sahaaba is one. Do we not keep re-iterating this?

Why? Because we want the people to know: Ahlus-Sunnah are united, Ahlus-Sunnah are Ahlur-Rahma, and we are not from those who are Mukhtalifeen (those who differ). We do not like to be from those who differ.

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said: “Allaah said:

وَلاَ يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ

…But they will not cease to differ (disagree) – Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy. And for that did He create them… (Hud, ayat 118 and 119)

So Allaah has informed us that the people of mercy do not differ. And the people of mercy follow the followers of the Prophets in their speech and action, and they are the people of the Qur`an and Hadeeth from this Ummah. And whoever differs from them in anything, then he distances himself, and he leaves the mercy of Allaah to the extent that he differs from them.”

So after mentioning that Allaah has divided the people into two types: (a) the people who differ; and (b) the people of mercy (Ahlus-Sunnah, Ahlul-Hadeeth, Ahlul Qur`an wal-Hadeeth), then Ibn Taymiyyah said: whomsoever differs with them. He didn’t say, ‘whomsoever differs with it.’ Ibnu Taymeeyah didn’t say that. He said: whoever differs with them. With who? With them. With Ahlul-Hadeeth, Ahlul Qur`an wal-Hadeeth, Ahlus-Sunnati wal-Jama’ah.

Whoever differs with them – in anything – he leaves the mercy of Allaah to the extent that he differs with them. So the more you differ with Ahlus-Sunnah, Ahlul-Hadeeth, the Salafiyeen, the more you leave the mercy of Allaah.

That’s an amazing Fahm (understanding) of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah.

And whoever opposes (Ahlus-Sunnah, the Salafees) in the affair of ‘Aqeedah, if they oppose them in the affair of Manhaj, if they oppose them in their following of the Sahaaba, the more they oppose them, the more (they are distanced) from the mercy of Allaah. …

[1] As Shaikh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said, the invented beliefs and methodologies and principles of Ahlul-Bid’ah are cut off; they do not trace back to revelation from Allaah. They only trace back to the founder of that sect, whereas Salafiyyah is from Allaah.

[2] No ayah or hadeeth supports Shirk, bid’ah or any falsehood, as scholars such as Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) have clarified. Thus, when Ahlul-Bid’ah approach the Qur`an and Sunnah after having already believed in something, they approach the Qur`an and Sunnah in other than the correct manner, as they seek to distort the intended meaning of an ayah or hadeeth to support their misguidance. Ahlus-Sunnah read the Qur`an and Sunnah and then believe in accordance with what is found in the Qur`an and Sunnah upon the correct and intended meaning.

[3] Abu Khadeejah elaborated that ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdil-‘Azeez (rahimahullaah) was the greatest Mujjadid (Reviver), besides the Sahaaba, since the Tajjdid of the Imams such as Ash-Shafi’ee and Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhab (rahimahumullaah) was restricted to the affair that they had influence over, whereas ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdil-‘Azeez was himself the ruler.

[4] There were many other benefits derived from the highly beneficial lesson, such as the virtue of the Sahaabi Mu’awiyyah (radiallaahu Ta’aala ‘anhu), who is the Uncle of the Believers because he was the brother of one of the Mothers of the Believers Umm Habeeba (radiallaahu ‘anha) who was one of the wives of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Abu Khadeejah relayed what the scholars advise with – naming our children with the name of Mu’awiyyah (radiallaahu Ta’aala ‘anhu).

[5] Also Abu Khadeejah advised that Ahlus-Sunnah should not backbite each other, they don’t let each other starve from hunger, and when one of them hurts, they all hurt.

And Abu Khadeejah also brought a beautiful benefit, saying Ahlus-Sunnah should not only be united upon one ‘aqeedah and manhaj, but also they should strive to be together in person, learning together, etc. For when the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his sahaaba reached a stop on their journey one day, the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saw the Sahaaba separated just by distance – some here, some there, some over there – and for this he (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said to them that this physical separation of yours is from shaytan! The narrator said – after that day – if a blanket was spread out over them, it would cover them from how close they were sitting.

So the sahaaba were united in their hearts – upon the same ‘aqeedah and Manhaj – and physically! May Allaah be pleased with all of them.

[6] Other benefits include [and this is not verbatim]: Ahlus-Sunnah does not tolerate Ahlul-Bid’ah. Ahlul-Bid’ah desire that we stay quiet about them (regarding their Bid’ah and Shirk).

Imaam Abu Ismaa’eel al-Ansaari (rahimahullaah) said: “Whilst in Haraah: ‘The sword was put to my neck five times [and each time] it was not said to me, ‘Leave your madhhab’ but it was said to me, ‘Remain silent about those who are in opposition to you’. So I would say, ‘I will not remain silent.'”

Abu Uwais (rahimahullaah) said the ‘Aqeedah is to be acted upon, and on account of it, Al-Walaa` wal-Baraa` is to be made. Why did the polytheists hate the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)? Because he didn’t keep quiet about their false gods.

And Abu Khadeejah warned against selling our Aqeedah, selling one’s Deen!

Nu’aym ibn Hamad (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) used to be a Jahmee, then repented and wrote 13 books refuting the Jahmiyah. Now that’s what you call a Tawbah! For refusing to give in during the Fitnah of the deviant statement ‘The Qur`an is created,’ Nu’aym Ibn Hamad (rahimahullaah) was tortured and imprisoned and kept hungry and without water. And when his students came to visit him, he told them: By Allaah, when they kill me, do not remove these chains from my body. Bury me in these chains (so that he will be resurrected with them). He did not surrender his Deen. In addition, they cut off his arms and legs and killed him, without him surrendering his Religion! Rahimahullaah!

Allaahu akbar!

These Imams such as Imam Ahmad and Nu’aym Ibn Hamad (rahimahumullah) didn’t sell the Haqq (truth).

Some today, no sword is put to their neck, no gun to their head (and they sell the Religion). Out of fear of losing a friend, they will sell their ‘aqeedah! Those Imams had swords put to their necks or imprisoned, and they wouldn’t leave the Haqq…Our Salafiyyah is not for sale! We don’t sell it to Ihya At-Turaath or Ikhwanul Muslimoon, even if they offer us a position as Imam and $1,000 a week. Not for $20,000 (a week or any amount of money). Our Salafiyyah is not for sale. Put a sign on your body: NOT FOR SALE!

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, said about about the Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum):

نْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَر

You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma’roof and forbid Al-Munkar… (Aali ‘Imran, ayah 110) Why? Because they enjoined the good and forbade evil. Not just to themselves, but to others.

Ahlus-Sunnah love each other, even if you’ve never met many of them or speak their language. Why? Because the foundation upon which the Jama’ah is built is the Sahaaba of Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). They are Ahlus-Sunnah. And whoever does not follow them has gone astray and innovated.

People today want the Salafees to “soften up.” It’s not my Deen or your deen. Take it whole. It’s not a buffet bar.

Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said in Majmoo’ al-Fatawaa (vol. 12):

“There is another group of individuals. They don’t know the ‘Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah as they are obligated. Or they may know some of it, and they are ignorant of some of it. And that which they know, they try to conceal. And they don’t clarify that ‘Aqeedah (of Ahlus-Sunnah) to the people. And they don’t forbid bid’ah. And they don’t condemn (refute) Ahlul-Bid’ah, and they don’t punish them. Rather, they may condemn speech of the foundations of the Sunnah! Rather, they don’t distinguish between what is said by Ahlul-Bid’ah and Ahlus-Sunnah, or they will accept all of the sects.”

Ibn Taymeeyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) also said Ahlul-Bid’ah treat the issues of Usool (the fundamentals of the religion, the ‘Aqeedah) as if they were issues of Ijtihaad. This is the attitude of many of the Murji’ah, the ‘thinkers,’ the Soofees and the people of philosophy.

Sound familiar, ya ikhwaan? Yes. “Goldie” (Abu Usamah Adh-Dhahabie), Shadeed Muhammad, Yasir Qadhi. Do they come in the garb of Salafiyyah? Yes. They (lyingly) say, ‘We are Salafi.’

Abu Khadeejah advised not to be deceived by these false claims, just as Imam Ibnul-Qayyim (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) provided the example of someone who brings a bottle of whiskey and replaces the label with a label that reads: Pure Milk. It’s still filthy whiskey.

Changing the label does not change the reality!

This describes many in our times who claim that they are Salafi, but they are not. If you see these (characteristics that Ibn Taymeeyah listed) in them, then you’ve caught them. Run away from them with your Religion!

Then Abu Khadeejah gave an in-depth look at Hizbeeyah and its machinations. He mentioned that he knew Ali Hasan Al-Halabi and Saleem Al-Hilaali and Muhammad Moosa Nasr since 1993.

As time went by, they started to nurture those who sat with them upon distancing themselves from Shaikh Ibn Baaz, Shaikh Al-‘Uthaimeen and Shaikh Rabee’ to connect their listeners to them exclusively! In 2000, Abu Hasan Al-Ma`rabee came to the UK – as a student of Imam Muqbil (rahimahullaah) – and he sat with the Salafees in the UK and sat with Al-Hilaali.

The following is the greatest proof of their Hizbeeyah!

Saleem Al-Hilaali, Al-Halabi, and Al-Ma`rabee made the brothers sign a contract – after inviting Maktabah Salafiyyah and other Salafees – and they said: “These are the points we enforce upon you – that you will not refer back to any scholar except Ali Hasan and Saleem Al-Hilaali in all of your disputes and affairs. (And) you will not invite any scholar to the UK unless it is approved. [Keep in mind that Shaikh Al-Albaanee, Shaikh Muqbil and Shaikh Al-‘Uthaimeen were still alive; Shaikh Ibn Baaz had died. May Allaah have mercy on them!]

And Al-Ma`rabee, Ali Hasan and Saleem Hilaali threatened those who didn’t sign this contract with warning against them. They even put Abu Khadeejah’s name on it, and Abu Khadeejah said: “I didn’t ask for my name to be put on there.” They told him to come back the next day, Abu Khadeejah never returned – wa lillaah il Hamd! Abu Talha Dawood Burbank (rahimahullaah) didn’t go, and Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis didn’t sign either. Al-Hamdulillaah Allaah saved them!

This is from their Hizbeeyah – they seek to cut off connection to the true scholars!!

May Allaah reward Abu Khadeejah for his efforts, and preserve him upon the Sunnah.

In this link here, you will find more about this bullying and deception and flat-out Hizbeeyah of these characters whom Abu Khadeejah told us about. The following is an excerpt from that link:

“However, as time went by, we noticed some contradictions between what they were calling to in public and what they would say in private gatherings and insinuations they would make in lectures. They would make disparaging remarks towards other well-known scholars. They would try and restrict the da’wah around them. They would disregard the refutations of the scholars if they opposed their close companions. So we found them defending the likes of Adnaan al-Ar’oor and Muhammad al-Maghraawee.

In 1999, only a few months before the death of Shaikh Al-Albaanee – Abul-Hasan al-Ma`rabi and Saleem al-Hilaalee enforced and imposed upon the Salafi du’aat in the UK a contract containing a command to refer all religious and manhaj affairs/disputes back to Ali Hasan and Saleem al-Hilaalee to the exclusion of the Scholars.

Many of the brothers still remember how Saleem al-Hilaalee and Abul-Hasan gloated at the Salafis, proud to have overpowered them with threats and bullying. Al-Hamdulillaah, most of the Salafi students of knowledge rejected the contract and either refused to sign or did not bother turning up to the signing. This resulted in several years whereby these very same Jordanians (who had now departed from the teachings of Shaikh Al-Albaanee) warned against the Salafi du’aat who stuck to the scholars in Riyaadh, Madeenah and the South (Saamitah). Wherever they would travel in the West, they would now warn against good Salafi students of knowledge, in Canada, in the USA, in France and across Europe. They tried to raise themselves up as the vanguards of the Salafi da’wah whereas in reality they defended the people of desires, promoted the manhaj of tamyee’ and watering down of the clear Salafi principles.

The issue came to a head during the fitnah of Abul-Hasan al-Ma’rabi (a few years later) when these individuals took to following their desires in opposition to the evidences (when the evidences were brought to them, they refused to accept them) – they waged a campaign against many of the scholars of the Sunnah, such as Shaikh Rabee’, Shaikh Ubaid, Shaikh Ahmad an-Najmee, Shaikh Zaid al-Madkhalee and Shaikh Muhammad bin Haadee. All this after the death of Shaikh al-Albaanee.

They started making more and more apparent their disdain for the Scholars of Saudi such as Shaikh Muhammad bin Haadee and Shaikh Rabee’. They would openly defend those who the scholars warned against such as al-Maghraawee, Ar’oor, Muhammad al-Hassaan, Abul-Hasan al-Ma’rabi. They would not defend these deviants upon knowledge, but upon desires – they would reject clear-cut evidences presented by the likes of Shaikh Rabee’ and Shaikh Ubaid al-Jaabiree. Their counter-argument would never go beyond, “there is no consensus of the scholars in their jarh of al-Ma’rabi”(!!) or “Shaikh so-and-so still has not refuted him” or “Shaikh Rabee’ is not a hujjah” (!!) etc. So thousands of Salafis in the West realised the games they were playing and so kept their distance from them… For more, click here.
