The Easiest Way to Memorize the Noble Qur’an – salafyink.com
By: Shaikh ‘Abdul Muhsin Bin Muhammad Al Qaasim an Imaam and Khateeb in
the Masjid of Prophet (sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam).

The Easiest Way to Memorize the Noble Quran“Similarly, utilize this method for every page of the Qur’an, however do not exceed eight verses in a day (or one page) so that the portion memorized will not increasewhich may result in a weakening of the memorization of said portion…”

The Methodology & Supplication for Memorizing the Qur’an
By: Shaikh Muhammad Bin Saalih Al ‘Uthaimeen (may Allah have mercy upon him)

“the way in which an individual will memorize the Qur’an is by being consistent (upon memorizing it).

People (generally) have two ways of going about memorizing (the Qur’an).

The First: is to memorize verse by verse, or two or three verses at a time, depending on the length of the verses.
The Second: is to memorize page by page

… Furthermore, it is incumbent whether, (one memorizes) by the first or second method, that they do not proceed (to the next verse or page) until they have excellently memorized (that verse or page that they are currently on)…”

The Story Of How An-Najjaashee Became The King Of Abyssinia

September 20, 2011 Leave a comment

[Translated by Aboo Talhah Daawood ibn Ronald Burbank]

Posted by Saad Burbankwww.alitisaambissunnah.wordpress.com

* Concerning an-Najjaashee’s refusal to surrender the Muslims in his land to the Mushrikoon from Quraish, and his refusal to accept gifts to bribe him to do that:-

* az-Zuhree said: “I had this hadeeth narrated by “Urwah ibn az-Zubayr (rahimahullaah): from Umm Salamah (radiyallaahu “anhaa). So “Urwah said: “Do you know what he (i.e. an-Najjaashee) meant by his saying: “Allaah did not take any bribe from me, when He restored my kingdom to me, such that I should accept any bribe to keep my kingdom; And Allaah did not do what the people wanted with regard to me, such that I should obey the people against Him.” ?

So I said; “No.”… So then “Urwah explained it, saying:  ”Aa’ishah (radiyallaahu ‘anhaa) narrated to me that:

<< His father was previously king of his people, and he had a brother, and his brother had twelve sons. But the father of an-Najjaashee had no child besides an-Najjaashee.

So the people of Abyssinia started plotting together and they said: We ought to kill the father of an-Najjaashee, and give the kingship to his brother, then his brother has twelve sons. So then later they can inherit the kingship and the Abyssinian people will remain for a long time without any infighting between them. So they attacked (the king) and killed him, and they made his brother king.

So then an-Najjaashee entered upon his uncle, and he impressed him so much that he consulted nobody else besides him, and he was found to be a person of intellect and firm resolve.

So when the rest of the Abyssinians saw the status which he now had with his uncle they said: This boy has got the better of his uncle now, so we do not feel safe that he will not make him king over us (after himself), and he knows that we have killed his father. So if that happens, he will not leave a single noble amongst us except he will kill him.

So they went to his uncle and said: You know that we killed his father, and put you in his place; and we do not feel safe that he will not become king over us (after you). So either you kill him, or you banish him from our land.

He said, “Woe to you, you killed his father yesterday, and now I have to kill him today! Rather I will send him away from your land.”

So they took him away, and put him in the market place; and they sold him as a slave to a trader from the traders who threw him into a ship, having bought him for 600 or 700 dirhams.

Then he departed with him.

Then when it was the evening of that same day some clouds from the autumn clouds appeared. So his uncle went out to enjoy the rain, but he was struck by a lightening bolt which killed him.

So the people quickly went to his children, but they found that they were stupid people. There was not a single one that had any good in him. So the affair of the Abyssinians was thrown into confusion.

So some of them said to others:
“You know, by Allaah, that the only one who is suitable to be king over you is the one who you sold this morning. So if you have any concern for the affair of the Abyssinians, then go and get him before he leaves.”

So they went searching for him. So they found him and they brought him back; and they placed the crown upon his head, and they sat him upon his throne, and they made him the king.

But the trader (came and) said: “Give me back my money, for you have taken my slave!”

They said: “We will not give you anything.”
So the trader said, “Then by Allaah, I will go and speak to him.”

So he went to him and spoke to him, and said: “O king! I bought a slave and the people who sold him to me took the price, but then they seized the slave and took him away from me, and they won”t give me my money back.” So this was the first case that was seen from the firmness, wisdom, and justice of an- Najjaashee that he said:

“You must either give him his money back; or hand over his slave to him so that he may take him wherever he wants.”
So the people said: “Rather we will give him his money.” So they gave it to him.

So this is why ((when the Najjaashee did not surrender the Muslims, and did not accept the bribe from the Quraish to hand over the Muslims)), he said:

“Allaah did not take any bribe from me, when He restored my kingdom to me, such that I should take any bribe to keep my kingdom; And Allaah did not do what the people wanted with regard to me, such that I should obey the people against Him.”

* Shaikh al- Albaanee mentioned that it is reported by Ibn Hishaam in his abridgement of Ibn Ishaaq”s “Seerah” (1/363-364), and by Aboo Nu”aym in “ad-Dalaa.il” (pp.81- 84), and that its chain of narration is “hasan”.

* – This is the same one, an- Najjaashee, who sent a message to the Prophet (sallallaahu “alaihi-wa sallam) to say that he had accepted Islaam; and he died upon Islaam (radiyallaahu “anhu).

- Then Ibn Ishaaq reports through his chain of narration from “Aa.ishah that when an- Najjaashee died that the people mentioned that light was continually seen over his grave. Shaikh al-Albaanee said its chain is hasan (good).

- He is the one who is mentioned in al-Bukhaaree and Muslim in a hadeeth of Aboo Hurairah (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) that when he died, the Prophet (sal Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) was told through Revelation, and that he ordered the Companions to form rows and he prayed the Funeral Prayer for him, as no one in his land prayed the Funeral Prayer for him.

Reasons that brings Happiness and Reasons that brings Misery

In the name of Allaah, The Most Beneficent, Bestower of Mercy.

Diligence upon the Reasons that bring about Happiness and Avoid the Reasons that bring about Misery by Sheikh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him.

Translator: Abu Fouzaan Qaasim

Beware! Oh my brother of this horrified spectacle (The Day of Resurrection)!
Beware that your scale will be lightened (due to your lack of good deeds)!
Beware that you will be given your book in your left hand!
For indeed, that is a terrible affliction.

Be diligent upon attaining the means that bring about happiness and safety; that your scale be heavy (with good deeds), that you receive your book in your right hand and be amidst the successful and happy people (on that day).

This abode (i.e. The Dunya), is the abode of reckoning (i.e. of the self). So call yourself to account! Look at your actions day, night and forever until you expire.

Thus, if you are upright and steadfast then praise Allaah and thank Him and be patient and persevere and ask your Lord for success and stability.

However, if you have been disregardful and lethargic in many affairs then you must check yourself! Repent to Allaah, be upright, and repair that which you have been sluggish in, be steadfast upon the commandments of Allaah and stay away from the prohibitions of Allaah with a sincere intention solely for Him, yearning for what He possesses with Him accompanied with truthfulness.

Allaah says: [Oh you who believe! Have taqwah of Allaah and be with those who are truthful]. 9: 119
Therefore there must be truthfulness found in the individual.

(Again) Allaah says: [Oh you who believe! Have taqwah of Allaah and be with those who are truthful]. 9: 119
And He says: [Then if they had been true to Allaah, it would have been better for them]. 47: 21

Allaah also says at the end of Surah al-Maaidah:

[This is the Day on which the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness; they will have Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise) they shall abide therein forever. Allaah is pleased with them and they with Him. That is the great success (Paradise)]. 5: 119

This is the state of the truthful ones, those who are truthful with Allaah in implementing the haqq (truth), leaving off what Allaah has forbade, striving against the soul with good, racing towards the good, enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, encouraging one another with the truth and good advise to Allaah and to His slaves.

Whoever strives against his own self will find a praiseworthy outcome and he will reap the benefit of that in the Dunya and Aakhirah. But whosoever is careless and negligent of this affair (i.e. striving against one’s self) then he will regret the outcome.

So, it is a must to be cautious (of this matter). And you must examine yourself day and night asking: “What have I done”? “What have I been neglectful in”?! In order for you to know what is for you and what is against you.

Furthermore, beware of accompanying the wretched ones! Those who hinder you from doing good and aid you in doing evil. It is upon you to accompany the upright persons, those who when you recollect about an affair they assist you, when you forget they remind you with the good, those who strive with you, who are patient with you and they help and support you upon the good.

(Again) it is mandatory that you befriend the best of the people. Because a person is on the deen of his companion. He is going to be upon what his companion is upon. Thus, be eager in befriending the righteous and decent people. Those who help you upon the good and remind you when you forget and goad you when you become lazy.

You must accompany the honorable and avoid accompanying the wicked; those who impede you from what is correct and lead you to falsehood. Be cautious of associating with them. Because the believer, according to his condition, if he advises for Allaah and for His slaves and sticks with the upright persons he will achieve the utmost happiness and success. But if he abandons and neglects (what was just mentioned) he will have the utmost remorse.

Thus, oh you slave of Allaah; you must adorn yourself with the mannerisms of the Believers and abide by them. Allaah He says: [The Believers, men and women, are Auliyaa' (helpers, supporters, friends etc.) of one another, they enjoin the good and forbid the evil, they perform the Salat and give the Zakat and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah will have mercy upon them. Surely Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise]. 9: 71

And the Messenger, sallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, said: “All of my nation will enter Paradise except those who refuse. It was said: Oh Messenger of Allaah! Who will refuse?! He, sallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise and whoever disobeys me then he has refused.” [1]

Hence, whoever obeys Allaah and His messenger, sallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, enters Paradise and achieves the greatest success. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His messenger, sallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, then he has refused and exposed himself to the anger of Allah and His punishment.

So, it is imperative to be alert and to fight against the soul.

Allaah, The Most High, says:

[As for those who strive in Us (for Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (Allaah's Religion). And verily, Allaah is with the gooddoers]. 29: 69

And He says:

[And surely, We shall try you till We test those who strive hard (for the cause of Allaah) and the patient ones, and We shall test your facts (i.e. the one who is a liar and the one who is truthful]. 47: 31

Hence, striving is incumbent and bearing patiently is also incumbent.

Allaah, The Most High, says:

[And whosoever strives he only strives for himself. Verily Allaah is free of all wants from the 'Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists]. 29: 6

Therefore strive against yourself! So that perhaps you will be saved. Because you are in danger, this abode is an abode of danger, an abode of deception, an abode of tribulations.

Allaah He says: [And what is the worldly life except a deceiving enjoyment]. 3: 185

And He says: [Your wealth and your children are only trials, whereas Allaah! With Him is a great reward (Paradise]. 64:15

You are in an abode of deceptions, trials, lusts, and an abode of allurement to commit what Allaah has prohibited. You have to be heedful as long as you are present in this life. Fight against your soul, be forbearing upon the obedience of your Lord and be mindful of His disobedience. Cling to those who are upright and watch out for the evil ones.

This is the path to success. This is the path to salvation and the road to good.

The Prophet, sallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, said: “Whoever Allaah wants good for He gives him understanding of the Religion.” [2]

So it is upon you to learn and seek understanding and insight of the Religion.

What are the best righteous deeds after the obligatory duties?

September 10, 2011 1 comment
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah was asked the following question:
I asked the Shaykh, who followed in the footsteps of the earlier generations and was the example for the later generations, the most knowledgeable man I have ever met in the east or the west, Taqiy al-Deen Abu’l-‘Abbaas Ahmad ibn Taymiyah, to point out to me what is the best righteous deed after the obligatory duties.
He (may Allaah have mercy on him) replied as follows:
What you have asked about, the best deed after the obligatory duties, varies from one person to another, depending on what they are able to do and what is best at any given time. So it is not possible to give a comprehensive, detailed answer that suits everyone. But what those who have knowledge of Allaah and His commands are agreed upon is that constantly remembering Allaah (dhikr) is the best thing with which a person may occupy himself in general.
Therefore the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah narrated by Muslim says:
“ ‘The mufridoon have gone ahead.’
They said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, who are the mufridoon?’
He said, ‘Those men and women who remember Allaah much.’”
And Abu Dawood narrated from Abu’l-Dardaa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Shall I not tell you of the best of your deeds and that which is most pure in the sight of your Lord, that which raises you more in status and is better for you than giving gold and silver (in charity), and better than your meeting your enemy and striking their necks and they strike your necks?’
They said, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allaah.’
He said, ‘Remembering Allaah (dhikr).’”
There is a great deal of Qur’aanic evidence to support this.
The least that a person should do is to persist in reciting the adhkaar (pl. of dhikr) which have been narrated from the teacher of good and the leader of the pious (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), such as the adhkaar to be recited at certain times, at the beginning and end of the day, when going to bed and waking up from sleep and after the prescribed prayers; and the adhkaar to be recited on certain occasions, such as that to be said when eating and drinking, when getting dressed, when having intercourse, when entering or leaving the home, the mosque or the washroom, when it rains, when thunder is heard, and so on.
Books have been compiled on this topic called ‘Aml al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah (Actions of the Day and Night).
One of the best books written on this topic is the small book entitled Saheeh al-Kalim al-Tayyib, which is derived from the book by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah called al-Kalim al-Tayyib; this has been edited by al-‘Allaamah al-Albaani.
Then one should persist in remembering Allaah in general, the best of which is Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah.
There may be some situations where certain kinds of dhikr are preferable, such as saying Subhaana Allaah wa’l-hamdu-Lillaah wa Allaahu akbar wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billaah.
Moreover, one should realize that everything that the tongue utters or the heart imagines that may bring one closer to Allaah, such as seeking knowledge or teaching, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, is a kind of dhikr or remembering Allaah. Hence the one who occupies himself in the pursuit of beneficial knowledge after performing the obligatory duties, or who joins a gathering in order to learn or teach, which Allaah and His Messenger have called fiqh or understanding, is also doing something which is one of the best forms of remembering Allaah (dhikr).
If you think about it, you will not find much difference of opinion among the earliest generation concerning what is the best of deeds. Whenever a person is confused he should pray istikhaarah as prescribed in sharee’ah, for the one who prays to Allaah asking Him for that which is best (istikhaarah) will not have any regrets.
He should do that a lot, and make a lot of du’aa’, for that is the key to all goodness. He should not be hasty and say “I prayed but I did not get an answer.” He should seek out the times of special virtue, such as the end of the night, the times immediately following the prescribed prayers, the time of the adhaan, when rain is falling, and so on.
Quoted from the essay al-Wasiyyah al-Jaami’ah li Khayr al-Dunya wa’l-Aakhirah, by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him), published by al-Maktabah al-Salafiyyah, Cairo.

The formulae of Allaah’s Remembrance prescribed after Salah

September 3, 2011 3 comments

Majmoo’ Fataawa wa Maqaalaat Mutanawwi’ah li Samaahat

al-Shaykh ‘Abd al- ‘Azeez ibn ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Baaz, Vol. 11, pp. 188-190 – alifta.net

From ‘Abdul ‘Aziz Bin ‘Abdullah Ibn Baz to those who receive this among Muslims. May Allah guide all Muslims and increase their knowledge and faith, amen!

As-salamu ‘alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah’s Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!) It gives me pleasure to remind my Muslim brothers that -

It is of the Sunnah for a Muslim to say after each obligatory Salah, whether one is the Imam (the one who leads the congregational Salah), Ma’mum (a person being led by an Imam in Prayer) or Mufarid (a person who performs prayer alone) to say, three times

Astagfir Allah[#1]

(I ask Allah forgiveness)

 and then say,

“Allahumma Anta Al-Salam Wa Minka Al-Salam, Tabarakta Wa Ta’alayta Ya-dhal-Jalali Wal-Ikram” [#1]

(O Allah, You are Al-Salam [the One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies] and from You is all peace, blessed are You, Possessor of majesty and honor!)

If one is Imam, one should turn facing the people. The Imam, those praying behind him, or a person offering Salah individually should say,

“La Ilaha Illa Allah, Wahdahu La Sharika Lah, Lahul-Mulku Wa-Lahul-Hamdu, Wa-Huwa ‘Ala Kulli Shai’in Qadir, La Hawla Wa-La Quwwata Illa Billah, La Ilaha Illa Allah Wa-La Na’budu Illa Iyyahu, Lahun-Ni’matu Wa-Lahul-Fadl, Wa-Lahu Ath-Thanaa’u Al-Hasan, La Ilaha Illa Allah Mukhlisina, Lahud-Dina Wa-Law Karihal-Kafirun. Allahumma La Mani’a Lima A’tait Wa-La Mu’ty Lima Man’t, Wa-La Yanfa’u Dhal-Gaddu Minkal-Gadd. [#2]

(None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without any partner. To Allah belong all sovereignty and praise. He is Omnipotent over all things. There is no might nor power except with Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Him. We worship none but Him. To Allah all favor, grace, and praise are due. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and we are sincere in faith and devotion to Him although disbelievers detest it. Oh Allah! Oh Allah! None can prevent what You willed to give and none can grant what You have willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all wealth and majesty).

After offering Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer and Fajr (Dawn) Prayer one should say along with what is mentioned previously,

“La Ilah Illa Allah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Lahu Al-Mulk Wa Lahu Al-Hamd Yuhyi Wa Yumit Wa Huwa ‘Ala Kulli Shay’in Qadir”

(There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah Alone, He have no associate. His is the Dominion to Him is due all praise; He gives life and causes death and He has power over all things)

After that, one is to say each of the following supplications thirty three times;

(a) “Subhana Allah” (Glory is to Allah),

(b) Al-Hamdu Lillah (praise is due to Allah) and

(c) “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Great),

and then complete the hundred by saying,

“La Ilah Illa Allah, Wahdahu La Sharika Lah, Lahu Al-Mulk Wa Lahu Al-Hamd, Yuhyi Wa Yumit, Wa Huwa ‘Ala Kull Shay’in Qadir”.

It is recommended for the Imam, Ma’mum, and Munfarid to recite these supplications audibly after each obligatory Salah in a low voice without disturbing others. It is authentically reported in the two Sahih on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that raising one’s voice in supplication after concluding the obligatory Salah was during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, “I used to know when they finished the Salah by this (supplications as they were said aloud) if I heard them.”

However, it is not permissible to say these supplications collectively. Each worshipper should recite them individually without observing the voice of others, because reciting supplications collectively is Bid’ah and has no basis in the divine Shari’ah (law) of Allah.

It is recommended for Imam, Ma’mum, and Munfarid to recite

Ayat-ul-Kursy (the Qur’anic Verse of Allah’s Foot stool, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255[#3]

inaudibly. After that,

Surah-Al-Iklas (the Qur’an, Surah 112),

Surah-Al-Falaq (the Qur’an, Surah 113), and

Surah-Al-Nas (the Qur’an, Surah 114)

inaudbly after each obligatory Salah and repeat them three times after the Maghrib (Sunset) and Fajr (Dawn) Salahs. [#4]

This is preferable, for the authenticity of what we have mentioned above. May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, His companions, and those who follow him rightfully till the Day of Judgment.
